On one level, it’s just a bit of fun. On another level it’s about something deeper – our approaches to life. How do we view the world? How do we view the future? How do we view ourselves? And where do we look to find answers? This Christmas, billions of people will stop to honour the birth of history’s central figure. Maybe Jesus can make sense of things. Have a read and see what you think.
An excellent little evangelistic book ideal to give away this Christmas that looks at four different ways to understand Christmas. Which way do you see it? Four Kinds of Christmas is a great introduction to the Christmas message. It will make people laugh. And it will make people think… about themselves and about Jesus. Splendid little read on the true meaning of Christmas. Having just read 'A Christmas Carol' I particularly enjoyed all the Scrooge references. This book is highly readable and entertaining, but still manages to share deeply on why the Stable is the answer to all our Christmas longings. Yes, the dark is heavy, but the light has come and has overcome the darkness!
Oh boy, great stuff. Scrooge, Shopper, Santa, all that cultural longing in us is partially affirmed (but without assimilation) and then beautifully challenged with the gospel. Not trying to be clever, and yet should be interesting enough for those inoculated by the message of Christianity.
I recommend that together with 'The Weirdest Nativity' as Xmas giveaway books for non-Christian friends.
And that's the most surprising thing - 99% of Christmas leaflets/booklets/etc either puts me to sleep or irritates me on the intellectual level alone, so why should I expect different reaction from my non-Christian friends? And here I have finally found two resources that would not be ashamed to give away.
A very short read and very accessible. Glen Scrivener brings the gospel message from Isaiah 9:2-6 using 4 different vignettes of Christmas. He draws on the differences between each type and ultimately points the reader to the source of truth, hope, joy and light in the dark world we live in. Great to gift to non-believers or early Christians. His writing style allows access for a wide range of ages.
This is a great little book that brings out the realities of our attitude about not only Christmas nut also of life. It is short, concise and gospel, rich. Easy for pre-teens to read and for older Christians to check our own hearts to see if we are keeping the Gospel as the center. Awesome evangelistic tool that I hope to have for our church next year at Christmas time!
Original - which is tough to do on such a well worn topic - and creatively crafted to help us see Christmas for what it is, and for the ways we usually miss it! A must read for every December to remember what this is all about.
An excellent, observation of Christmas. Very funny in places yet challenging and poignant. Take the challenge and discover Which kind of Christmas you are!
