Advent and Christmas Wisdom From Pope Francis

Rate this book
"I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ."

- Pope Francis in Evangelii Gaudium, or The Joy of the Gospel

This Advent, prepare to celebrate Jesus' arrival as an infant born into poverty in the small village of Bethlehem. He brings us the good news that God loves us and calls us to give of ourselves to others. Let the example of Pope Francis, as he models the humility and generosity of our Savior, inspire you. Reflect on the pope's teachings, accompanied by Scripture, prayer, and action. Then go out and share the message: Jesus Christ is born!

“Advent And Christmas Wisdom From Pope Francis” is a collection of 40 daily meditations taken from Pope Francis’ Encyclical, homilies and addresses. Each day’s selection consists of one or two paragraphs from Pope Francis, a related scripture text, a prayer and a call to action.

I read this day by day through the Advent and Christmas seasons with only a few days that I missed and had to catch up. I found something to ponder and reflect upon each day. It also helped me see Pope Francis in a different light. The secular media portrays him as a progressive reformer, more in the model of a politician than an apostle. The Francis the reader meets on these pages is a Christ-centered teacher whose actions are derived from their Divine source. I am glad that this book was a part of my 2015 Advent & Christmas devotions. I will put it away, to be taken out again for further inspiration.

I did receive a free copy of this book in the hope, but with no obligation, that I would write a review.
