I had to read this. I just had to read this and it was heartbreaking to me. Jenna and Camden are basically the hero and heroine. Violet's (the wannabe OW) husband went to find himself in Japan or something like that. Violet owned a coffee shop down the street from where they live. Heroine leaves town to find herself or something. She was having doubts about their marriage. It had gotten stale I guess like all marriages do and it was just hard to like her at first. She grew on me after a while. But she went away and she found she didn't want to move on. I was afraid she was going to so something wrong on one of her bar nights but she didn't and I was glad. She is gone for six weeks approximately.
In the meantime Vi, the skank barista, meets Camden and they start hanging out. She knows he's married but they keep doing stuff together. Watching movies, dinners, talks, etc. She knows he still loves his wife but she falls in love with him. One night she leans over and kisses him and he freaks out and runs out of her apartment and is sorry. I was glad he did that. But then when he is telling her they can only be friends a day or two later, he says he felt the electricity too and that really bummed me out. He is giving her flowers and hugging her and his wife who found out she is pregnant is back and sees them through the window. She freaks out and leaves. It was so sad.
Even after this the evil skank Vi is still hoping that she would get her love story ending with Camden. I was so pissed at her. Leave married men alone. Just no. Camden gets in an accident, Vi is at the hospital with someone else and they bring him in. Its really bad and the wife shows up. She sees the skanky Vi, and gets pissed real pissed. She screams at her and Vi then says nothing happened and it's not too late for you. (I had a girl tell me that once and she lied, I believed her and that was more heartbreaking and so now of course so I don't ever believe that crap because OW who mess with taken men are skanks and gross and I am digressing.... Bitter party of one...) Okay back to the story,
Camden does recover and he really absolutely loves Jenna. Vi, the skanky home wrecking idiot, has decided she loves Camden too and she is going to see if they still have a chance and make sure he's okay. Once there she sees Jenna and Cam together through a window and he is looking at Jenna with so much love in his eyes and she knows it is a lost cause. At least for now. I really didn't like that skank for some reason. She goes home, and guess who's waiting, Liam, the true love of her life and he was miserable without her and he wants her back. Then at the end, they are all friends and Vi is pregnant with Liams baby and just HELL NO! You don't be nice to a skank who wanted your man no matter what, hell no never. I was so disappointed.
I kind of wish I hadn't read it because it hurt my heart and I hate books like this. No he didn't sleep with Vi but what the hell was he thinking hanging out like that with her. Yes the wife had gone to think over the relationship but they weren't legally separated or anything. I just thought it was tacky. I was happy he pulled away in horror when the skankity skank kissed him but then he said he felt electricity and that just pissed me off. Again there was no sex and only one short kiss but I still want to stab him through the heart and hide skanky skank Vi's body where no one would ever find it. I still gave it three stars and I can't remember why. I keep vacillating between two and three only because I didn't like Vi (Did I mention she was a skank?) and I hate that he liked the kiss. I know, I know. I have serious, serious issues. I am on medication though so don't be afraid....

‘Why can’t I just love what I have? So what if things aren’t perfect?’
“I think it’s just life. It got the better of us.”
Lindsay Detwiler is a new Author to us and we were so intrigued by the synopsis to Without You that we jumped in eagerly, it sounded so different and emotionally charged. From what we understood this was a story about two couples whose paths cross when both relationships are in the danger territory.
‘…people fall into ruts, couples drift apart, and temptations threaten to overthrow the power of marriage.’
‘It sounds so simple, but it isn’t anything of the sort. How do you reconnect with yourself when it feels like all of the pieces are misplaced, scattered by experience, sorrow, and time?’
We identified with many aspects covered in Without You, but we have to be honest and say that we were quite surprised at times too. Whilst beautifully written we found it quite slow for the majority of the story only to feel rushed toward the end. We felt that after such a large proportion of time being spent on setting the scene and warring with emotions and justifications for what was to come it was over without us experiencing the afters. Yes, it had us riveted and we were desperate to see how it would all end up – we just would have loved more.
‘We, victims of our own senseless carelessness and bad luck, are forced to trudge through life without the missing item, big or small. We are, as the old saying goes, sometimes unaware of the value of the particular thing until it’s gone.’
Now, whilst in some respects this is primarily Jenna’s story, we have to say she was our least favourite character in this book, in fact, we disliked her immensely. Now, don’t get us wrong we understand where she was coming from in many respects. However, overall we just found her a petulant spoilt princess who thought the grass was greener and wanted her cake and eat it too. There was not emotional connection there sadly.
‘Maybe distance will help us rekindle the passion, the love we had not long ago. If nothing else, maybe a change of scenery, a break from my humdrum routine is what I need.’
Her behaviour, reasoning’s and ‘not my fault’ attitude was immature and disproportionate to the years married and her age. It felt all wrong, especially after a very emotionally distressing event which Jenna appears to treat as an inconvenience – she never convinced us of her heartfelt love and compassion. We think, if these characters had been older with actual ‘real’ problems it would have been a whole different story, maybe. Thus, sadly – Jenna’s the reason we just didn’t love this book.
‘…no matter how hard I try to focus on other things, he’s always invading my thoughts. He’s always invading my thoughts. He’s always the whisper in my heart, the voice incessantly resonating in my head, He’s the roadblock in my future, whether I want to admit it or not. He’s the constant what if, the constant why not, the constant regret.’ – Vi
Now, Violet – we fell in love with her and actually she was the complete opposite of Jenna. She came across mature and took responsibility for her actions. In many ways the two couples were a mirror image and showed two different perspectives. We didn’t really get to know Liam really as he didn’t feature throughout the story but we understood their journey. Ray -Violet’s best mate was a confusing part of their story which was never really resolved. We did love the ‘relationship’ he had with Vi, though.
“..as much as I love you, I can’t ask you to give up your dreams to let me follow mine. Don’t you see? It’s not fair to either of us.”
We can’t forget to mention Camden, the hero in this story. The man who loved with his whole heart and never faltered. Talk about throwing someone who can’t swim in at the deep end, poor bloke. We understand parts of why Jenna struggled in her marriage to Cam – however – give the man a chance to understand your issues and try and work through them. We couldn’t blame him for his confusion, despair and sudden isolation in what is a partnership.
So, whilst we didn’t love this story, we did enjoyed it and liked how different it felt with a new and varying perspective. We will definitely look out for more from this Author.

When the sparkle evanesces to dust, the glorious days are just memories, Jenna is trying to keep the magic alive, trying to save her marriage from falling apart. When the opportunity presents itself - Jenna flees away, thinking - a break might be the answer she is looking for.
For Vi, things turn upside down when a handsome man, who is wrapped in a halo of gloom, who disseminates dreariness, walks into her bakery. The attraction is immediate and mutual. Ergo, the mayhem starts.
This was my second Lindsay detwiler book and she didn't disappoint. My personal favorite is voice of innocence though =D
After reading the synopsis I thought I kind of knew what will happen, but what I predicted didn't take place, and I was completely surprised.
The story is told in two point of views - Jenna and Vi's. I liked Jenna more than Vi, mostly because Jenna tries. The characters were lovely, but my only problem was - I loved the protagonists individually and not as couples.
Reason - For me, hey! This is important now - I repeat again - For me, Camden didn't substantiate as bae material. Sorry, Camden, your place is taken by Corbin (okay, I am obsessed with voice of innocence, just can't help it) I am sure most people will instantaneously fall in love with Cam.
I gulped this book down in two sittings. It was so cute, fast paced and a few quirky details here and there doesn't hurts, right? I enjoyed without you, and if you have read Voice of innocence you'll know how beautiful Lindsay's writing style is.
I recommend this book to romance lovers :)

This contemporary romance was full of angst. If angst isn't your thing then you should probably move along. I wasn't real happy with it, but then I think that is me and my personality issues coming out to play, too. I didn't care for the main female character here, not at all. I want to connect with and like my heroines.

March 16, 2019Just my humble opinion of a married woman. Marriage is serious matter, we don’t take a break from it because things are “fizzled”, or you reach a hard place or you seem to have “doubts”. You don’t go away in a extended trip to work things out in your head. IMO

Before I even start this review, can we please talk about this cover? I mean look at it! It's absolutely beautiful and I seriously cannot wait for the day that I can both of Lindsay Detweiler's books on my shelves.
There is something beautiful, haunting, gut wrenching and truthful about the way Lindsay writes. It is one of the many reasons I wanted to read this book; I loved Voice of Innocence, which I'm sure you have figured out if you've seen my blog. I rave about it any chance I get. So to say that I was absolutely looking forward Without You was an understatement. I knew that her second book would be just as amazing as her first and I was right.
Without You is a story of four people, Jenna, Violet, Camden and Liam. Jenna and Camden have been together for a while and were once madly in love and passionate but suddenly the honeymoon staged kicked in and things got well comfortable. It leaves Jenna wondering if there is something more out there. Violet and Liam were madly in love but dreams and different career goals were a deciding factor. One that left the other wondering if they should stay together and risk feeling resentment towards the other for never pursuing those dreams. To be honest, it was an honest portrayal of a relationship.
Lindsay honestly showed us what a real relationship looks like and not the kind we are so use to seeing with the sunshine and butterflies and petty fights over misunderstandings. This was the real deal. This was what an honest and real relationship. It pretty ugly and it was pretty hurtful and sometimes hard to understand but it was real.
What interested me the most of the story was how these four people were connected. I couldn't wait to see how these characters were going to be connected and how this was going to play out. I was really curious and I kept turning the page trying to find out what was going on.
In the end, I was pretty content with how the story played out. I thought it was realistic and that I loved most. There were some things I would have liked for example: Liam and Camden's point of view of the story. I kind of wanted more of Liam and Violet's relationship. But those are just minor details in the story. Everything else I enjoyed. The writing was good.
Should you read this? Yes! A million times yes.
Before I even start this review, can we please talk about this cover? I mean look at it! It's absolutely beautiful and I seriously cannot wait for the day that I can both of Lindsay Detweiler's books on my shelves.
There is something beautiful, haunting, gut wrenching and truthful about the way Lindsay writes. It is one of the many reasons I wanted to read this book; I loved Voice of Innocence, which I'm sure you have figured out if you've seen my blog. I rave about it any chance I get. So to say that I was absolutely looking forward Without You was an understatement. I knew that her second book would be just as amazing as her first and I was right.
Without You is a story of four people, Jenna, Violet, Camden and Liam. Jenna and Camden have been together for a while and were once madly in love and passionate but suddenly the honeymoon staged kicked in and things got well comfortable. It leaves Jenna wondering if there is something more out there. Violet and Liam were madly in love but dreams and different career goals were a deciding factor. One that left the other wondering if they should stay together and risk feeling resentment towards the other for never pursuing those dreams. To be honest, it was an honest portrayal of a relationship.

Without You was a highly introspective and emotive read. It was also highly relevant, well written, insightful, and despite the angsty subject manner - easy to follow. I saw myself in this story, maybe a bit too much. Like the last quote, 'marriage is hard,' and we all get busy and tired at times. But Jenna and Camden had slid into a rut which proved to be unsettling and unsatisfying for Jenna, whom I would label as being more than a bit of diva with a prickly personality. The writing was observant and full of feels as Jenna appears to process her early mid-life crisis - she is only in her late twenties. She views her marriage as stale and wonders if it is worth continuing. Most of us have experienced similar pivotal life points and wondered, "Is this all there is?" I know I've been there more than once, and not just in reference to marriage. Ms. Detwiler approached this process with a fresh angle and interesting style, and I was quickly drawn into the story. I enjoyed the welcome hits of humor, which helped to offset the angst and also provided some of the cringe-worthy self-revelations made by both women. This was my first experience with Ms. Detwiler, but her entire listing has just been added to my TBR.

This is a story about what happens after the ‘happy ever after’. Five years down the line are you still in love? Is there still heart stopping romance, or are you both just going through the motions? This is the situation Jenna finds herself in and even though Camden is still the man of her dreams, isn’t he? The magic is gone, or too difficult to find.
Jenna is a flawed character but she comes across as realistic because of this. Maybe she blames Camden too easily, for all their problems but if we’re honest isn’t that what we do? It’s easier to find fault with our partner, than to look inwards, for the cause of our emotional problems.
Camden loves his wife and she should know this, right? He shouldn’t have to tell her, or show her, it’s a given. It’s not until Jenna leaves on a business trip and stays away, he wakes up and realises his perfect marriage, is on the rocks.
The story portrays the couple’s emotions sensitively, the realism is undeniable but sometimes the pacing is a little slow.
Vi’s story, adds an interesting dynamic to this tale of marital discord. She is well meaning and therefore instantly likeable. However her need to find the man of her dreams may prove to be more destructive than Jenna’s selfishness.
The story links all the characters and storylines together in a believable way and there are some nice plot twists.
Overall I enjoyed this story and the ending, although a little rushed after the earlier slower pacing, is romantic and satisfying.

This is really a 1.5 stars for me. This book was a let down for me.

Purchased this book and to me it was not worth the dollars. Too wordy and background in areas that didn't pertain to the story IMO.
Was not a fan of any of the characters.
Jenna feels her married life is dull and wants more. Instead of telling her husband that she wants a break and on a business trip she tries to reevaluate her life.
Camden thinks everything is OK with their marraige. But while she is out of town starts spending time at a coffee shop and chatting up the owner Violet. Walking around with her going to fairs. Something he didn't do with his wife.He was always to tired or want to play on his games.
Violet seeing a wedding ring on Camden's hand but still pursues having a relationship with him.
Wished there would have been more to Jenna catching Violet and Camden together at her coffee shop. A real let down on the angst department. We don't even see her getting mad at him for having an emotional relationship with Violet.
And then the ending they are somewhat friends. What!!!

Jenna has been married for five years, but lately she has been feeling like the spark is missing and like her marriage is coming to an end. So, when she is headed on a business trip to New York she decides that it's the perfect time to take a break from her marriage to try to find herself and figure out where her marriage went wrong. Violet has just opened her own coffee shop with the help of her boyfriend Liam, but when he decides he wants to pursue his own career he leaves her heartbroken and dedicating all her time to her coffee shop, that is until Camden walks in, she feels an immediate attraction to the man who seems to be just as lonely as her. They begin a friendship, but the more time they spend together the more Violet realizes that Camden is waking up feeling in her that she thought would never feel again. There is only one problem Camden is a married man and Violet is no homewrecker.
This novel had my emotions all over the place one minute I was crying and the next I was laughing, I fell head over heels for this book! Lindsay executed the way monotony can be a problem in marriage so well in this novel. I fell in love with each single character! At the beginning of the book I thought I was going to hate Jenna, but I just couldn't, as I kept reading I completely understood where she was coming from even though I did want to shake some common sense into her once in a while. Violet I loved her instantly especially her sense of humor and her best friend had me laughing out loud. Camden at the end of the day I just wanted what was best for him. I think he was the character I felt the most for, he was happy with the life he had with Jenna and didn't understand why she would do that to their marriage. This book was very beautifully written and I was not expecting any of the twists the author hit me with. I recommend this book to anyone in look for a good contemporary or just a good novel.

The Struggle is soooo real.

So much angst i feel in this book, i want to shake some senses to all the characters.
So many heartbroken in this book.
This is the story how to keep your marriage, when the honeymoon is over and when the love is not in the air anymore. When saying i love you and holding hands is completely forgotten.

This is my first book from Lindsay and i enjoyed it a lot...love all the characters..i totally understand their struggles.

Everything was good but at the end I'm not satisfied with Violet ending. It was like after Camden and Jenna got their HEA and she should also get her HEA and that's why the author brought Liam back.She easily let Liam in her life like nothing happened which was a let down. There was no explanation what happened with Ray......I thought Ray and Violet had a possible future. Well Jenna and Camden had perfect HEA.I thought Jenna was a little overbearing and hypocritic as she doesn't listen to him at all and only forces her decisions.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where I hated every single character till now.
Jenna is a selfish bitch.
Cam is a lying, cheating POS. He didn’t have sex with Violet but he did kiss her and told her he had feelings for her.
Violet (OW) is a home wrecking whore. This chick felt not one bit of remorse over pursuing a married man and every side character encouraged her to do it.
The kumbaya ending was gross.
Moral of the story: it’s ok to lie cheat and pursue married men.

Wow this was a really good read.
The writing was excellent,I felt fully invested in the story.
The characters are not always likeable,they like real persons have doubts and act stupidly sometimes but fortunately they understand their mistakes and they choose to fight for their happiness before it is too late.

what kind of garbage is this from H. disgusting bastard... he admits to ow that he is attracted to him, that he would like to see where things go between them, but hey, he is bothered by h, because he is still in the picture, he still feels bad, but he feels the chemistry with ow, he loves his time with her, he apologizes to her, why,....it's obvious that he wants to go.....you and be with her, so why didn't he, but we get the story that in the end he still loves h and all we readers should buy that rotten false belief as if we are stupid, don't underestimate us, H didn't love h and I honestly hate books of this type....poor h should have had her own self and give herself a chance to be loved by someone don't stay with a piece of trash who neither appreciates nor loves her and doesn't deserve her in any way...whore, this is his match as far as I'm concerned...disgusting book

There are really no bad guys in this story, seriously. Did the h make some very stupid choices? Yes. Did the H make some pretty stupid choices? Yes. Did the potential OW make some pretty stupid choices? Yes. Fortunately, the choices never resulted in cheating nor did they do any damage that was not redeemable. Loneliness can be powerful and can make a very strong person consider bad choices.
I enjoyed the way everything worked out and I enjoyed the fact that none of the main characters were despicable. Love is a lot more powerful than loneliness.

Going into this read, I had the feeling it would be a hurts so good read. I was also filled with dread and anxiety. It didn’t look like a full on “cheating” story line, but there are subtle hints for sure. I went back and forth in deciding when to start it and for the first time EVER, I started it and also went to the end chapters just to see how bad it might be. I know, I'm really good at creating anticipatory anxiety. Low and behold, it is an amazing story about the frailty of relationships and is as exquisitely written as I had heard.
All of the characters are people you know, maybe even yourself. Not oddly, I found myself feeling a ton of sympathy for Jenna and Camden. I think the author does a stellar job putting us in her frame of mind and creating the situation that doesn't necessarily make her a bad person. She's given the chance to work in New York for period of time. She’s very tense about their marriage and having doubts about trying to create and keep the spark. But, she’s not leaving Cam, it's a break. Honestly, in my many years of marriage I’ve had some of the exact same thoughts. How do you keep the spark and grow your relationship, when day to day you may not be getting the support you need to maintain your home, etc. Real Domestic bliss is HARD to create , never mind the maintenance part. She hasn’t fallen out of love with Cam, but the day to day activities, stress of work, etc. get in the way.
For all the dissension, Cam really had my sympathy. He loves her with everything he is , so he’s confused and scared. When their communication breaks down , stressed by the distance, his loneliness is palpable. At this point, he’s my hero and I feel like we just need to bide some time.
A few chapters past this and my contention centers on Violet. It’s not that she is bad - she’s a good and lovable person. Her friendship with Cam is unexpected and gives them both something to ease the loneliness, something to look forward to.. But the relationship contributes to his confusion and it borders VERY close to making her a not likable person. But Detwiler writes this perfectly. It mirrors exactly what you’d expect to go down. She knows Cam, she feels for Cam, and Jenna is this faceless women who’s put her relationship in jeopardy. I want to not like Violet for contributing to Cam’s confusion, but I can’t fault either of them. It’s life and emotions run hot and high at times. But, Cam’s not up grabs. I’m a “put yourself in another persons shoes” person and Violet had little room to judge someone and the situation as she does.
One thing I love is that the author keeps the plot line to a relatively short time frame, not allowing things to drag out too much. But it doesn't take a long time for new relationships to form and we know it it doesn't take a long time for one to fall apart. What I appreciate about this is that Jenna and Cam aren’t necessarily experiencing a long rough patch. Relationships wax and wane. It's evident Cam doesn’t feel it like Jenna does but that doesn't make it not so.
Now Violet is seriously suffering from her own feeling of “being left”. Through flashbacks we learn about the dissolution of her marriage to Liam. He remains a mystery for much of the book and I can’t help but wonder what he was thinking and how and why did he Violet let go. What was he thinking? This one aspect was a bit thin for me...
But Detwiler ends this story perfectly! She brings everything full circle and puts the world right (for me). I cannot recommend this enough. It's just so expertly constructed and wonderfully written. It’s not often that I find that I used the review writing time, even sitting on it for a few days as a way to exorcise the high emotions this story gave me ~ it’s utterly delectable (even if the story made me feel squirmy and left me sleepless). Lindsay Detwiler has earned a new fan! 5 Stars & recommendation

Without you is a really nice contemporary romance and is definitely an easy, quick read for a quiet weekend. I'd say it pretty similar to the type of story written by Nicholas Sparks. Lindsay Detwiler is a very talented writer.
Without You is mainly set with Jenna in New York and with Vi in a small town (I think it's a small town) coffee shop. Both settings relate well to their respective characters - Jenny's high flying business trip and Vi's own little coffee shop. So this also relates well to Camden's relationship to both women. He meets Vi when he is lonely and doesn't know if his marriage will survive. He needed somewhere to go really.
I quite liked the characters, although they aren't too rememberable. Camden appears to be the nice, kind, good looking male character who doesn't know what has gone wrong with his marriage. He's happy with the quiet life. Because of this, I liked Jenna the least. Camden would give her anything and she practically threw their relationship away. But, I did start to like her more as the story progressed.
I really liked Vi. She tries not to let anything get her down. But she still struggles with heartbreak and her emotions and it is definitely something everyone can relate to. Similarly, she gets her hopes up. I do find Vi a very strong person as she powers through to make sure her business is a success. She is someone anyone would want to be like.
Without You is told via the alternating perspectives of Jenna and Vi during a period of 6 weeks whilst Jenna I'd in New York. This shows us the differing and confusing feelings of both women who are in essence looking for the same thing. It also shows just how quickly feelings can change or build up. Lindsay Detwiler writes both women so well and their characters are completely believable.
I felt the story told was somewhat predictable, but there were a couple of twists that I really didn't expect. It didn't end the way I thought it would either. The plot also had quite a nice pace to it. As it covered six weeks, you don't see every single day, just the important bits. I really liked this, as feelings didn't just suddenly disappear or reappear and everything builds up gradually.
I did like the end. Everything is tied up and everyone is happy. I do feel that it may have been a bit of an easy-out. I was surprised at the appearance of a certain character right at the end.
I would definitely recommend Without You to fans of Contemporary Romance. It is your "after-the-happily-ever-after" type story and portrays that even in the happiest marriage; it won't stay as happy for long. There has to be give and take on both parts.
I will definitely be looking out for more by Lindsay Detwiler in the future.

He meets Vi when he is lonely and doesn't know if his marriage will survive. He needed somewhere to go really.
I quite liked the characters, although they aren't too rememberable. Camden appears to be the nice, kind, good looking male character who doesn't know what has gone wrong with his marriage. He's happy with the quiet life. Because of this, I liked Jenna the least. Camden would give her anything and she practically threw their relationship away. But, I did start to like her more as the story progressed.
I really liked Vi. She tries not to let anything get her down. But she still struggles with heartbreak and her emotions and it is definitely something everyone can relate to. Similarly, she gets her hopes up. I do find Vi a very strong person as she powers through to make sure her business is a success. She is someone anyone would want to be like.
Without You is told via the alternating perspectives of Jenna and Vi during a period of 6 weeks whilst Jenna I'd in New York. This shows us the differing and confusing feelings of both women who are in essence looking for the same thing. It also shows just how quickly feelings can change or build up. Lindsay Detwiler writes both women so well and their characters are completely believable.
I felt the story told was somewhat predictable, but there were a couple of twists that I really didn't expect. It didn't end the way I thought it would either. The plot also had quite a nice pace to it. As it covered six weeks, you don't see every single day, just the important bits. I really liked this, as feelings didn't just suddenly disappear or reappear and everything builds up gradually.
I did like the end. Everything is tied up and everyone is happy. I do feel that it may have been a bit of an easy-out. I was surprised at the appearance of a certain character right at the end.
I would definitely recommend Without You to fans of Contemporary Romance. It is your "after-the-happily-ever-after" type story and portrays that even in the happiest marriage; it won't stay as happy for long. There has to be give and take on both parts.
I will definitely be looking out for more by Lindsay Detwiler in the future.

What I thought?
This is the first book I’ve read by Lindsay Detwiller and it wont be the last! Without You describes what this book is about to a T. Without the person you love what is there to life? The story itself was a great read, it started of slow but as the story progresses it fell into place so to speak. I really liked how the author connected love from real life. You can’t control who you fall in love with even if it’s a married man or woman. The characters in this story I really enjoyed reading about them and their lives. The first couple you read about is Jenna and Camden. Jenna works for Johnson & Browning Firm her husband Camden is a construction worker. They have a dog names Henry. The second couple you read about is Violet she is a 26 year old who is heartbroken when her boyfriend Liam got a job offer in Japan. Violet is the owner of Vi’s. Vi’s is a coffee shop. There are other characters in this book that fit into the story for example Violet’s sister April and her daughter Ava. Violet’s friend Ray calls her “Purple”.
Do you have to take a break from the person you are in love with? That’s what one of the characters decides to do. You’ll have to find out who it is. My favorite part was the ending, however I enjoyed the entire book. I’d recommend this book for those that like to read about romance and love.
Parts of the story I liked:

“It’s about connections. It’s about sharing something with someone. It’s about love, no matter what format love looks like. Even if love looks like gross sweatpants on a couch eating grilled cheese sandwiches together, it’s still valuable. In fact, sometimes, it’s in those simple moments the meaning of life, the value of connection, is most apparent. If you can find someone who you want to do something as simple as eating a grilled cheese with, then you’ve found a real bond”

Without You is the second book from Detwiler that I have read. Though I did like it and I could relate to it at points, I liked the first book better. It was more because this one hit home with me.
I've stopped airing out my laundry on my blog a while ago, but I can definitely relate to Jenna's feelings of stagnation. It's been something that I personally have had a problem with and I'm sure other married couples have gone through it. I found my own way of finding a niche for me (and am still working on it), but I am glad I never did what happened in Jenna's life.
It was realistic, worrying, and showed me a life that could have happened if I went the route Jenna did. I instead found hobbies and took enjoyment in some domestic work (baking and ironing are favorites. I'm beginning to like cleaning as well). However, the emotions Jenna went through were worries of my own as well. Funny thing, I've been married for almost five years now (same amount of time as Jenna and Camden).
Violet's storyline was more enjoyable for me because it was an escape. I was able to live her life without the echoing of previous worries. Violet was sweet, caring, and had a lot going for her. I was happy to see her ending.
From the blurb, I'm sure you can figure out what happens, but I was surprised at how everyone ended up. I wasn't expecting the ending Detwiler had. I was expecting something open ended like her first book or something bittersweet.
All in all, it was an easy book to get into and I did like the characters. I find it interesting that the animals are named after Detwiler's own pets. It's just a fun tidbit that makes me smile. This is a nice contemporary work that pulls on the strings and may invoke your own worries in wherever you are in relationships.

I’ll be the first to admit when I read the summary of this book my tummy was in knots. I have a hard time with a single woman being “friends” with a married man when the marriage has troubles and the wife also happens to be away for work for 2 months. I honestly wasn’t sure where the book would go and I would agree with the terms – but I went into it with an open mind and heart hoping for the best. I was pleasantly surprised! I REALLY enjoyed this book. The author’s way of portraying an actual marriage was AMAZING! I’ve been married for 21 years – so I can totally relate and see where this book was coming from.
Jenna is married to Camden, after 5 years of marriage, Jenna feels the spark is gone. She keeps trying to bring back the spark – however, feels that Cam isn’t giving 100%. When Jenna has the chance to leave for 2 months and go to NYC ( 5 hours away) – she feels this is just the break they both need. Will it bring back the spark? Will distance really make the heart grow fonder?
Cue in Violet, owner of Vi’s coffee shop – she is a heartbroken woman – the love of her life Liam, has recently left her. Camden and his adorable, but large pup Henry come in for coffee and a friendship blossoms. Cam was just as heartbroken as Violet – he thinks Jenna is going to ask for a divorce. His companionship with Violet is comforting, however his love for Jenna is stronger. Where will this friendship go? Will they find what they both need?
This is a more difficult review for me to write – I don’t want to give away any part of the love story. Truth be told – this is a love story – just told a little different than the “normal”.

3.5 Stars Without You, totally grabbed my attention.
I truly enjoyed this read; it kept and totally held my complete attention, hoping for some complete happiness for Violet and Camden. Okay, so here is where my heart was split; I did not care for the lead heroine Jenna. She came across as selfish, immature, and totally self centered. I had some real strong reactions to her behavior, and for me, that lends to the talent of this author, as she fully engaged this reader. As much as I didn't find Jenna likable, I could relate to many of the things that she was feeling. I'm sure that many women and men can identify with her internal monologue of the discontent with the state of her life and marriage; but I totally could not condone her reactions and response to it. Her lack of communication with her husband was disrespectful and just wrong in my humble opinion. Here again, this author really go me thinking and reacting to her words, great job! Another character that confused me was Liam, okay maybe not so much the character, but his brief, albeit important role in this story line. This plot was set up so meticulously, too only wrap up so quickly, that I was left feeling a little let down. I had invested in both Vi and Cam, that I wanted to see more of their happiness and joy. I needed to buy into the redemption of both of their partners, for the pain and suffering their behavior and choices had caused. I actually would have loved to hear both the voices of Cam and Liam; also would have enjoyed to get more thoughts from Ray. I personally would love to see this author explore these 5 characters with another story, as I became vested, and would love to have more.

Book Review For ** Without You ** By Lindsay Detwiler This is the first time reading anything by Author Lindsay Detwiler and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this touching story.The author has given us a touching love story of relationships and marriage ,and how a marriage should be without the fighting and the misunderstanding. This story had my emotions going from laughing out loud to crying ,while I was reading this story. This story is told from the point of view of two women who are seemly unconnected ,they are trying to figure out what's not working in their marriages. Jenna has been married for 5 years but the spark seems to be gone and she's feeling like her marriage is coming to an end ,she's going on a business trip to New York ,so she decides it's the prefect time to think about her marriage and what has gone wrong with it. Then there's Violet who has just opened up a coffee shop with the help of her boyfriend Liam , but when everything is done Liam decides he wants his own career and leaves her , heartbroken and dedicating all her time to her business. Then one day a handsome man walks in and instantly she's attraction to this man who seems to be lonely . Their seem to hit it off and began a friendship ,but the more time they spent together the more he begins waking up feels she though she had lost. But there's a problem he's married and she's no home wrecker. The characters were amazing in this story very strong and they make the story flow so easy . I could go on and tell you more about this story but that would spoil the story you. I highly recommend that you read this touching story , you won't be disappointed I wasn't.

...That's not homewrecking. That's Life. what? Did i missing something? Most of homewrecker don't relize they've been wrecking a home, and the rest of them just don't care. And kissing this guy to the other just one of that, it was okay when you are teenager but when you pass it, can be another story. Talk about disrespecting other people, you need to know when to stop, that's a choice. People who's unable to make the right choice are teenager.
