Tiny Glitches

Rate this book
Life isn’t exactly normal for Eva the stronger Eva’s emotions, the faster nearby electrical devices die. Eva can’t have a cell phone, use a computer, or be in a car for more than a few minutes without killing it. Dealing with her electricity-killing curse makes living in modern-day Los Angeles complicated enough for Eva—and that was before she was blackmailed into hiding a stolen baby elephant and partnered with Hudson, a sexy electrical engineer Eva just met.

Dodging repeated attempts on her life made by ruthless corporations hunting the elephant is easier for Eva than quelling her growing affection for Hudson, and while protecting an elephant is hard, controlling her curse is a lot harder. However, Eva must do both, because if she lets her emotions free and falls in love with Hudson, neither of them will survive.

Enchanting and quirky, Tiny Glitches fuses electrifying romance and high-voltage suspense in a rollicking adventure.

I love Rebecca Chastain's Madison Fox urban fantasy series so when she contacted me about reviewing her new paranormal romance I jumped at the chance. This story has all the humour of her previous books but with added sexy times so of course I loved it!

Eva Parker has a very unusual ability: her body absorbs electricity. That might not sound too bad but whenever Eva is feeling any kind of heightened emotion (from happiness or attraction right through to anger or fear) she has no control over her ability. Basically she's like a walking electromagnetic pulse and any electrical items in her vicinity soon stop working. She can't use a mobile phone or a computer for more than a couple of minutes, travelling by car is a risky business when she could kill the battery at any moment and she's even had to have her home set up to run gas lighting and appliances. It makes it pretty difficult for Eva to live in our modern world but she's adjusted quite well, she has a successful career as a feng shui consultant and she's usually able to pass off her lack of modern conveniences as a weird eccentricity.

Unfortunately Eva's well organised life is about to come crashing down around her ears though. There is a very good reason that Eva has always kept her abilities secret, only a few very select people know what she is capable of and she wants to keep it that way so she doesn't end up in a government lab somewhere being experimented on. Unluckily for her she wasn't quite careful enough and someone has figured it out. Suddenly Eva finds herself being blackmailed into taking care of a stolen baby elephant, an elephant who happens to be at the centre of a conspiracy that puts not just Eva's life in danger but also the lives of everyone she cares about.

I can't even begin to tell you how many times I laughed out loud reading this story, Rebecca Chastain has quickly become one of my favourite humours writers and her quirky characters along with the crazy situations they get themselves into never fail to make me giggle. I honestly don't know where she comes up with her ideas but as long as she keeps writing them down I'll be a very happy reader. Add in brilliant characters, a sweet romance, great friendships and an adorable baby elephant and of course Tiny Glitches is going to be a winner. If you're looking for a light hearted paranormal romance, one that will have you laughing until there are tears in your eyes, then you can't go wrong with this book. My one slight complaint was that the romance was a little rushed but you know what? I was having so much fun reading this story that I just don't care about that. I don't know if this will end up being part of a series or not but I would absolutely love to read more about Eva and Hudson, I think Eva's abilities are so interesting that the author could take the story pretty much anywhere and I really hope it's something she considers.

Tiny Glitches is a brilliant, quirky and lighthearted paranormal romance and it's just cemented Rebecca Chastain's name on my auto-buy list of authors.

(PureTextuality.com)Paranormal romance is one of my favorite genres, as well as urban fantasy. I absolutely love this authors urban fantasy series, Madison Fox, Illuminate Enforcer, so it was a no brainer that I wanted to read a paranormal romance by her.

Eva has lived with a curse her entire life. She drains energy from anything electrical that she is anywhere near. This means she doesn’t own a tv, cell phone, regular phone, computer, or car. Her appliances and lights runs off of gas. She has guarded her secret her whole life for fear of someone wanting to use her gift or that the government would want to do tests on her. To make things even more interesting, the energy she drains, fuel the the things she sees surrounding people. Like little moving cartoons that show off a person’s emotions. Her life hasn’t been easy because of all this, but her Aunt Sophie raised her, and helped her control her “gift”, although it’s a gift nobody would ever want.

I am not sure exactly what I was expecting. Maybe something more like her UF series, but that is not what I got. The author completely changed it up. And actually I ended up enjoying the ride. And that’s because this was a totally wild ride of a book. I needed to totally suspend any sort of reality because some of it was a bit hard to swallow(the cartoons), but once I decided to just go with it, I had fun reading it. Ms. Chastain wrote a completely unique read for me and that’s really hard to do with the amount of paranormal books I read.

As far as the premise, it was so complicated that I don’t want to ruin anything. I will say that Eva ends up having to care for a baby elephant, one that she has to hide before it gets stolen. And that’s because there’s all kinds of groups that want the elephant. I totally fell in love with that elephant! And Eva totally fell in love with Hudson, an electrical engineer(of course)who manages to get involved with the elephant as well.

The humor was almost slap stick at times. I laughed out loud too many times to count, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was a romance, and a comedy, but it was also a mystery and a light thriller, as well. It’s not young adult, but I highly recommend it to adult romance fans that like a unique, funny, and yes, even sexy at times, read.

Favorite Quotes:

“He's either a terrible influence on you or a great one. And I think it should be a new rule in our relationship that I meet anyone who sees you in handcuffs.”

“The Tercel moaned, backfired twice, and rattled to a stop. The stench settled around us. 'Damn it, Ed. Your fart's killed the car.'”

“I'd never thought I'd appreciate my gift's side effect. Apparently I'd been leading the wrong lifestyle to make use of it. My curse was far more suited for the life of crime.”

“You don't walk into love, Eva, and you don't fall. You throw yourself into it. It's all or nothing.”

My Review:

Paranormal anything is not my typical genre but I found this hybrid paranormal/contemporary romance/cozy mystery to be a fun and entertaining read. Nestled in the mystery were delectable hits of steamy goodness, and miles and miles of clever humor. I frequently snorted and even laughed aloud at a scene involving gastric distress – don't judge – it was really funny. The paranormal aspect involved the main character having a strange relationship with electricity - she absorbed it - and this caused ill effects with electronics, meaning she ruined them. Imagine not having a computer, cell phone, television, car, not being able to fly or travel... no wonder she called it her “curse.”

Written in first person POV, our heroine, Eva, is blackmailed into helping a wayward scientist, Jenny, hide a kidnapped genetic experiment after tinkering with the creatures chromosomes. Jenny had figured out Eva's curse by observing her in high school, and threatened to expose her if she did not aid and abet. Over the course of the story, Eva is chased, shot at, attacked, and kidnapped several times - by bumbling bakers turned private eyes, as well as ninjas, and a “retrieval expert” who was after the experiment - hunted by the FBI, and finally taken by SWAT. My life suddenly seems so drab and boring.

I loved Tiny Glitches!

Tiny Glitches is a unique story with a lite paranormal element, lots of action, humor, romance, and a delightful cast of characters. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this but I can say I'm thrilled to have taken the chance on it.

Eva is an interesting young woman. She's a feng shui consultant, is very close to her aunt, and she has this amazing gift/curse. The only drawback is that it drains electricity. This prevents her from riding in cars for long, owning a cell phone, using a computer...essentially it keeps her from living a normal life. Good thing since her uncommon life is about to be turned upside down.

Tiny Glitches has a complex plot with many threads woven in. It has mystery and suspense as Eva and Hudson try to figure out why Eva was targeted to take care of this baby elephant. There's romance as Eva and Hudson begin exploring the attraction between then while working at solving the puzzle they've been given, and work at giving each other trust, which is clearly difficult for them. And every step of the way they are surrounded by family and friends who love them and offer every kind of support they can.

Tiny Glitches is also about acceptance - accepting yourself as much as others. It's about the power of friendship and family. And it also has a social message about the evils of certain human quests using science. Ms. Chastain managed all the many threads deftly and injected so much humor. I literally laughed out loud several times. I feel for and/or felt for each of the characters as Ms. Chastain gave them distinct personalities.

There's so much going on in this story. Sometimes it was a little over-the-top but Ms. Chastain created such an entertaining story - it is a read where your emotions change as many times as Eva drains cell phone batteries. It is a compelling read and I'll definitely be reading more from Ms. Chastain.

Review:

This is paranormal romance with a punch. Tiny Glitches, Rebecca Chastain’s latest work is by far her most ambitious novel to date. It literally is a post-modern take on the genre. A killer plot, emanating from a series of “tiny glitches,” quickly rollercoaster into a web of intrigue, thrilling mystery, and, of course, romance. It’s probably the single book I’ve read, in this oft overlooked genre, that I would recommend to those who are new to it – or for that matter anyone who wants a good read. Chastain’s writing is a constant evolution as she flexes her wings, and Tiny Glitches sits at the top of the heap now. The sheer enjoyment reading this book (not the type you can put down easily) left me feeling exhausted, yet fulfilled. It was sheer pleasure to read.

The plot I’ll leave to the reader. Needless to say, all the stops were pulled out here, and layers of “tiny glitches” pepper the novel, building pressure and culminating in an explosive ending. The reader is constantly trying to stay two steps ahead of a game that’s seven moves ahead of them. You’re constantly behind the eight ball in this cat and mouse game. It’s impeccably detailed, and unerringly woven into a solid foundation, one that collapses as you rush headlong into a conspiracy that defies the traditional boundaries of a “paranormal romance.” Aside from the intimate encounters, which are tastefully written and spaced out adequately, you’d swear you were reading a Robert Ludlum novel – actually it’s almost exactly like a Ludlum book – high praise indeed.

The characters are varied and the cast of Tiny Glitches is the largest menagerie Rebecca Chastain has thrown at us yet. In sheer defiance, she handles even the minor characters with a flair and panache separate from her other works, namely, Fistful of Evil, Fistful of Fire and Magic of the Gargoyles. Her masterful working of the characters is almost transparent, allowing the reader to never have to guess at who happens to be speaking to whom, or how a character is going to react in a given situation. Eva, and Hudson, the main “couple” of the novel, make excellent protagonists, and their foils flip sides as often as they are tossed. The characters, even the minor ones, speak in a true, well thought out voice, that sheds more light on their character the more they speak. There are no “tiny glitches” in the characterization.

The writing is Chastain at her finest. By far, if I can repeat it enough times, this is her most intricate and captivating novel to date. Her writing has matured at a rapid pace, and there seems to be no hurdle she cannot overcome. Smooth sentence structure, and natural grammar, are the norm here, and, like the characterization, is transparent to the reader, easing the suspension of belief necessary in any “paranormal” volume. At no point, does this suspension of belief collapse. Description is done with broad strokes in places, and in a fine line in others. Dialogue is natural, given the circumstances of the book. The writing is from the perspective of Eva, the unwitting heroine in the novel. All the pieces fall, almost miraculously and magically into place toward the end. Kudos must be given to the author for tying the disparate plot themes and events into a neat package, delivered to you at the end.

Tiny Glitches is a book I would highly recommend to anyone, not just lovers of the “paranormal romance” genre. It’s an incredibly well written, hard hitting and conscious arising novel. There is something in Tiny Glitches for everyone: romance, adventure, ninjas…. oh, I didn’t mention the ninjas. Pick this novel up. You won’t regret it.

(3.5 Stars)
I became a fan of Rebecca Chastain after reading "A Fistful of Evil;" so when she alerted her fans that "Tiny Glitches" was being released I knew I wanted to read it. In all honesty, this book had the potential to be 5 stars for me but what brought the rating down was the author included one too many supernatural aspects that interfered with the story line and reading enjoyment. I will explain in a minute.

Eva Parker is a fen shui consultant who hails from a line of quirky women. Her mother is an actress who gave birth to her as a teenager and left her to be raised by her Aunt Sofie who is an up an coming artist. Eva has several unique abilities one of which she calls her curse. She can see divination, unique creatures and aura like images around people and she unfortunately disrupts anything electrical when she is around it for a small period of time. She can't use a computer, cell phone, watch TV, drive a car etc. and when she is with others who have those devices strong emotions will knock out their electronic devices as well.

Here is where my earlier comment about too many supernatural aspects comes in. This book would have been so much better without all of the crazy divination and auras Eva sees. It really added nothing to the story line and actually often got in the way. Eva's ability to disrupt electronics was enough on its own. However, I don't want to harp on this because there were so many other great aspects to this read.

While Eva goes to the Galileo Art Gallery to investigate the theft of several of her Aunt's paintings she meets the handsome security consultant named Hudson. As she is about to leave he asks her out for a drink but before he can fully extend the invitation, Eva is carted away by a woman named Jenny who claims to know her from high school. Before you know it Eva is in a horse trailer, handcuffed and saddled with the responsibility of taking care of a baby elephant. Yep, I said, "elephant."

Jenny has secrets and she knows of Eva's abilities and is threatening to out her and her skills to the world if she doesn't help her. What follows is a serious of dire but hilarious escapades involving a bevy of quirky characters and a hot and heavy budding romance between Eva and Hudson. I found myself barreling through the story, intrigue with the plot, savoring every quirky characters and quite frankly laughing my ass off! In the end I had a great time. Now, the question is whether or not this is a series or just a standalone novel. I for one hope it is the former.

This is my third book by the author and I want more! I utterly enjoy the writing style and the voice the author uses in her stories. Even though her stores deal in the paranormal/supernatural world, it feel real and I connect with every character.

I really liked the Eva, the heroine, even though I wanted to kick her! Duh Hudson really, really likes you you daft girl! Would he be at ALL helping you with the whole elephant fiasco if he didn't? I do feel bad that he IS an electrical engineer and she is an electrician's worst nightmare - someone who drains electricity. Poor girl. Living in the modern world and having this curse makes every day life harder then hell. Girl can't even drive, because she kills cars!

There was SO much craziness happening at every turn. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed by everything and I would have to step away. There was barely only moments of calm. The only calm before the onslaught of craziness was when they went to Eva's aunt's house at the beginning. From there it felt nonstop. It seemed unreal. It was fun, don't get me wrong, just over-the-top and hard to believe that Hudson stuck around.

Speaking of Hudson...I had mixed feelings about him. Great guy, but I was meh. He seemed to perfect to me.

Ooooh the ending. It was good and made me happy (I was really upset about what I thought had happened, but the last chapter cleared everything up for me). It seemed like a stretch, but I'm happy with it :D.

But yes, this was a cute and fun story. I loved the uniqueness of the story, situations, and the characters - especially for Eva and her sad curse. I would be a hot mess if I had to deal with that. I highly recommend it to people who need a lighter story with some laughs, craziness at every turn, and fun characters. In the end, I shall stamp this with....mmmm...3 stars.

Firstly I would like to kindly thank this lovely author for being kind enough to provide me with a copy of "Tiny Glitches" to read and review.

I love it when you come across hidden and great gems like this, and I'm grateful for the opportunity, this will be my first time in reading anything by the lovely Chastain, but I do look forward to read more from her in the future....*fingers crossed*

Living with a curse can be torture, Eva knows this first hand; especially since she has one that involves electrical currents. It seems Eva drains energy from anything electrical that she is anywhere near, so yeah, this can be a deadly curse not only to herself but those around her.

Hudson; now where to start with this guy....I was always left wondering will they, or won't they. I'm totally rooting though....

This book definitely has a complex plot with many threads weaved into the tiny minuscules of the writing. It has mystery & suspense as Eva and Hudson try to figure out why Eva was targeted to take care of a creature from the very beginning.

With some unlikely help and a hunky Hudson, Eva just may be able to save herself and the possible downfall of society, that's if she can stay out of trouble long enough though.....

I'm not sure on what I was expecting BUT it worked and I FLOVED it! Chastain totally changed things up. At times it was totally mind blowing, in a unexplainable confusing way, but I don't want to say anything more otherwise I'll end up giving parts away, and we don't want that.

Be prepared to become totally engrossed in this beautifully written book and the reader is only left with only 1 question..... is this a series or a standalone novel

After a break in at the art gallery where her aunts painting were stolen, Eva runs into someone she is least likely to remember. In fact she doesn't remember Jenny at all. Jenny has blackmailed Eva into hiding a baby elephant, yes, I said a baby elephant! Since running into Jenny, Eva feels like nothing could possibly go her way, cursed in fact and I mean that quite literally. Eva drains electricity from everything she is surrounded by and Jenny knows all about it. Since being left with a baby elephant, Eva is handcuffed, kidnapped and has destroyed two house trying to hide this "package" from the police, FBI, the government, and two companies trying to get there hands on Jenny, the information she has on a possibly devastating experiment  and the elephant. With some unlikely help and a hunky beau, Eva just may be able to save herself, Jenny, the elephant and the possible downfall of society, if she can stay out of trouble long enough.
This is such a fun book! Entertaining at every turn! I enjoyed it through out. Loved the knight in shining armor and how he just couldn't stay away. The twists with Jenny and the humorous PETA gal Eva just could shake. A book I would definetely recommend. This is a five fangs read.

My Review:

I loved the idea of this book. The cover is beautiful and the synopsis caught me almost immediately. I'm buried to my neck in review requests but took this one for that very reason. I needed to read this. I mean, who wouldn't want to read a contemporary paranormal romance that involves an elephantini?!?! What's an Elephantini? You'll have to read the book to figure it out!

What I Liked:

I liked a lot about this book. I loved the humor; I laughed quite a few times. I've never read a book about powers like Eva had. The concept was fantastic. I also really enjoyed the author's writing style. Even when I felt the book was all over the place, she kept it interesting. I also enjoyed the extreme differences in her characters; the cast was very diverse.

What I Didn't Like:

There was just so much happening. I couldn't keep up with who had kidnapped her or who was on her side. The story was all over the place at points.

Final Thoughts:

I enjoyed reading this and I'm glad I did. I felt the story was very hard to give a rating to. I'm giving it 3 stars, but I would say it's more of a 3 1/2 and I never feel like I could give half ratings. The story was there, the cast was interesting, but I had a few issues with the story.

At first, I was a little worried that Tiny Glitches wouldn't quite live up to the Madison Fox Series because, let's face it, they're some of my favorite books. I was so worried by this that I went to my mom and asked her for advice. She, of course, said I had an obligation to be honest, even if I adore Rebecca Chastain (she is honestly so nice). I knew she was right, but it turned out to be something I really didn't need to worry about.

Tiny Glitches was nothing like any paranormal fantasy book I have ever read, and I have read a LOT. You really can't even compare it to the Madison Fox Series, it's almost like they're written by a totally different author. Sometimes when you read books of the same genre, by the same author, you can see aspects of the other books in the one you're reading and it's not necessarily a bad thing, but it was a surprise to......

*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

This was the second book I have read by author Rebecca Chastain although the previous read was more Urban Fantasy and definitely had a different vibe.

This story is lighter, and funnier, although at times felt a little confusing to me with so many different things going on. That being said the overall read was a good one with some very interesting characters. Having crashed my fair share of electrical devices (including a computer lab whilst at school) I found the main character especially amusing and there are definitely enough unique scenarios going on that I think even the most seasons PNR fans will find something new.

Overall 3 1/2 stars rounded up to 4 from me.

Tiny Glitches was an entertaining hard to put down read. It had its moments of absurdity and one of complete craziness, but all in all I truly loved this book. It kept me wanting to know more and wanting to know how it ended. Rebecca Chastain has written this world where Eva has this ability and curse all rolled into one and then a woman from her past drops a load of crazy on her doorstep and the action never stops. But it did bring her Hudson the very hot and funny security expert.

Their adventures are so full of trouble and problems it is comical. The troubles keep piling on. The moments of suspense mount and then the moments where Rebecca Chastain causes the readers heart to seize begin. This is a book full of passion, adventure and suspense. I truly loved it. I would recommend this book to any who enjoy a bit of paranormal with their romance and suspense.

(request submitted by author for an honest critique)

This has to be the weirdest book I've ever read and that's NOT a bad thing. In fact, I couldn't stop myself from reading page after page until I reached the epic conclusion.

Throughout Tiny Glitches, there was absolutely no boring moments and enough humor to keep a smile plastered onto my face.

From the get go, Rebecca brought the fun when Eva and Hudson began their unwelcome job of elephant sitting. Yup, you read that right..... ELEPHANT SITTING. At least it was a miniature elephant or elephantini (as referred to in the book).

In their reluctant adventure with Kyoko (elephant), they had to endure kidnappings, FBI, ninjas, and a gun-toting clown.

Seriously, I can't make this stuff up but I'm sure glad Rebecca did.

Read the book, folks, you'll be pleased you did.

Electrifying!!

This quirky paranormal story kept me reading from beginning to end. This story was very entertaining the "curse" that Eva must endure is her ability to "Kill" any electrical device. This story gets more interesting when she and Hudson realize that they have more than electrifying chemistry, such as the elephant. It's a well written story, but there are some stale or unnecessary moments, but all in all, I enjoyed it. Chastain does a good job at the balance of "danger" versus hilarity and sexual chemistry. Good read.

"Tiny Glitches"

By: Rebecca Chastain

Ok, I am still reeling from this book and laughing to myself when trying to formulate a review. I am not sure where or how to start describing my reading experience. I had a similar feeling when I conquered "Guide to the Galaxy"; exhausted, fascinated with the author's imagination and truthfully glad it was over and done with! Let me try to summarize: Eva Parker is a young woman with a gift that is more like a curse with some advantages (few, in my opinion). She absorbs energy from everything electrical around her so of course she can't stay in one place very long or things stop working. She owns nothing electrical, her apartment only runs on gas and cell phones, televisions, computers and cars are not even in the realm of possibilities in her world. No one escapes this "gift/curse". If she is around anyone long enough even their electrical gadgets stop working. Makes it a little hard to make friends wouldn't you say?

This electrical power she absorbs fuels her "gift" of seeing apparitions on people giving her a hint of their personalities and emotions...geez, just give me a regular empath any day of the week!

She meets a guy named Hudson who must be a saint because they develop a mutual attraction and he stands by her when she is confronted by an old classmate who leaves her in charge of hiding an "elephantini". Or to be more precise a genetically modified elephant that will always remain about the size of a Shetland pony. Ok, lost you yet? If not pay close attention because the story gets more convoluted from here! She is being chased by bad guys that want to find the "elephantini" and her old classmate Jenny. Have you ever tried to hide a baby elephant? Multiple, multiple accostings, kidnappings and comical events ensue.

I never really bought into this story and frequently found myself trying to figure out what Eva's apparitions meant. Let me give you just a short excerpt from this story and perhaps it will help explain my conundrum: "I knew the moment he regained consciousness: Gears winked out and the school boys outfit clung to his body. The old man's murder on a loop solidified, as did a new looping scene of a young boy sitting on a three-story tiled roof, shooting spitballs on a crowd of kids below." This was just one apparition and there were many! It might have been helpful if the author had published a directory of meanings for all the different apparitions that she encountered. The bad thing was, even Eva couldn't always interpret what they meant.

Ok, I am dragging this out...this story was long and tortuous and made even longer by the need to try and understand what the main character was seeing. But saying that, I still felt like muddling through because I "kinda liked the characters". Always a romantic I was hoping Eva could find a balance with her curse and enjoy some normalcy in her life...hmm, not sure that would even be a remote possibility in this technological world but who knows!

Not the easy flowing read but if you like the unusual this might be your kind of book. Just couldn't make a steady diet of this!

I give this book 3 "draining" sheep.

Tiny Glitches is a stand-alone novel by Rebecca Chastain. It is available in e-book format only.

POV: First person

Tense: Past

Sexual Content: detailed sex scenes, for ages 18+

Tiny Glitches is not your typical paranormal romance. It’s filled with lots of humor and silliness. As long as you go into reading it with the right expectations, you will probably have a lot of fun reading it.

Rebecca Chastain is highly creative. Tiny Glitches mixes the genres of mystery, romance, science fiction, and comedy.

The story is about a woman named Eva, who meets Hudson after her aunt’s paintings are stolen from a gallery. Not long after meeting Hudson, Eva is forced by an old acquaintance into watching a baby elephant. Hudson helps Eva deal with the elephant and try to track down the woman who gave it to her.

Eva has abilities that she considers a curse. She doesn’t know how to control them, so they are always interfering with her life. One of these is the ability to drain electricity from things. It makes it near-impossible for her to ride in a car, for example.

There is a lot more to the story than that, but I don’t want to give too much away.

The author kept me guessing about the woman’s motivations. She also kept me smiling and/or laughing through much of the story.

I thought the romance was satisfactory overall. I would have liked to have seen Hudson require more convincing to accept her gift after she finally revealed it. (Not to mention I thought he was pretty dumb to not have put it together on his own.)

The sex scenes were detailed, yet tasteful. The author described what was happening between the characters without using crude language.

I would have liked to have seen Eva gain more control over her powers. Since this isn’t listed as being part of a series, I think the reader should have been given more closure about Eva’s annoying abilities. There is a moment in the book that made me think that she had finally learned how to control them, but sadly that wasn’t the case. The HEA would have been more satisfying for me if the characters didn’t have to sacrifice so much to deal with her abilities.

Another complaint is there was too many villains. I couldn’t keep them all straight, and none were developed enough to make me fear them.

Overall, though, I enjoyed reading Tiny Glitches. It’s fast-paced, funny, sweet, and unique. I would recommend this to readers who are looking for something different.

This is a wonderful and quirky romance. I loved it!

Eva Parker is an unusual character. I liked her a lot, but wanted to shake her at times. She is a Feng Shui consultant with an unusual gift. Unfortunately, she has a problem with electricity - she absorbs it. This powers her ability to see the emotions of people as pictures/hallucinations. This makes it awkward when getting from one place to another, or staying in one place too long, which leads to batteries dying and power cuts. When she gets embroiled in a situation involving a stolen elephant, she needs to keep her wits about her. However, Hudson Keyes muddies the waters even more and she finds herself falling for him.

This is a wonderfully quirky romance, full of action, adventure, danger and weird and wonderful characters. It is told through the eyes of Eva. I started to read and was quickly swept away. I fell in love with the descriptive writing. I could picture each and every scene with clarity. The characters are lifelike and likable. I giggled at a lot of the descriptions of the emotional visions that Eva sees, though some are a little disturbing too. I loved the two characters, Atlas and Edmond. These two bumbling cousins had me chuckling at their antics. Also, the mention of baking and cakes kept making me feel hungry. I don't know how good Edmond's cakes really were, but my mouth was watering every time there was mention of it and the coffee cake too, which is Eva's favourite dessert. Therefore, either eat something before you start this book or you'll be salivating at it too.

The story took me on a roller coaster ride from beginning to end. I did feel, however, that the plot had a few holes in it, which left a few loose ends. I still felt that Hudson's past was not explored enough. There were hints, but the reader has to make their own interpretation of what the images Eva sees around him mean. He never actually confirms or denies things, as Eva never comes out and asks him about his life. Therefore, he remains a bit of an enigma. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know these characters.

Rebecca Chastain has written a wonderful comedic romance. I love her fast paced writing style. However, the flow seemed a little choppy at times. I have not read any other books written by this author, but I would definitely read more of her books in the future.

Due to some scenes of an explicit nature (though not as explicit as some I've read), I do not recommend this book to younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love quirky contemporary romances, or paranormal romances. - Lynn Worton

REVIEW: As far as Eva is concerned, she is cursed: she can’t own a phone, a car or even a home with electronics. Her curse prevents her from being in close contact with anything electronic. Within an hour or even less, cars breaks down and phones die. Her home is fitted with gas appliances only. It’s all tied in with her emotions, strong emotions bring out the curse.

Her only joy is her job. She is a feng shui consultant, and a damned good one. Feng Shui restores her inner peace and promotes only calming emotions.

Eva gets a phone call from the art gallery, in which her aunt’s paintings were being stored and shown. The gallery was broken into, and only her aunt’s painting were stolen.

Bumping into an electrical hottie installing a new security system would have been a pleasant distraction, but Eva promised her aunt she would look into the breaking.

Eva bumps into someone from her past, but she doesn’t remember Jenny, but Jenny remembers her, in fact she drops a few hints about Eva’s past, and then blackmails Eva into taking on a package until she can collect it. The package turns out to be a baby elephant !!

And from there on mayhem, laughs and confusion reigns supreme.

There are a few moments where I laughed out loud, they were so wonderfully written, that I could clearly see it all :-)

The romance comes in the form of Eva and the security fitter Hudson. Almost from the start, he makes it clear he likes her, but Eva has to be careful. Strong emotions cause accidents, and as she grows to like Hudson, she worries about hurting him.

Will Eva and Hudson get a happy ending ? Will Jenny claim the special baby elephant ? Will Eva’s aunt find who stole her paintings ?

Your going to have to read to find out

Eva was born with a gift, or curse as she calls it, where she basically sucks out everyone’s electricity. Not even cars are safe from her uncontrollable ability. She hates it, but she and those closest to her have learned to adapt. Of course those who don’t know her suddenly believe in curses of bad luck.

“Redheads and trouble go hand in hand,” Mark said, walking over to me after he pocketed Hudson’s money. “That’s what my father always said. But always worth it.”

Hudson was only there to install a new security system, but before he left he had to ask Eva out. Too bad their date never officially happens and instead they get thrown into a wild goose chase with an elephant in tow. He becomes a firm believer in the elephant curse since every electronic he comes in contact dies a mysterious death and yet he still stays around to help Eva, a woman he barely knows, find Jenny, a psychopath lady who handcuffed Eva and left them shackled with an elephant and no idea what for.

“Shouldn’t I be concerned about the cuffs?”

“They were your idea.”

I originally thought Tiny Glitches would be fun and entertaining, but it was more strange and monotonous. Between pooping elephants, ninjas, cars breaking down and someone getting kidnapped every time I turned around it was a little much. The chemistry between Eva and Hudson was there sometimes, but overall it wasn’t. The storyline was interesting it just wasn’t captivating.

Tiny Glitches is one of the best books I have read. I was
hooked on this book from the first few pages. This is not
your typical tale, I love the new approach Rebecca has
taken with this book. I felt for Eva in this day and age not
being able to have any electronics. I would go mad. But she
is so resourceful I love that she had her apartment reworked
to have gas lamps through the house. And gas appliances
and heat. And then their is Hudson, reliable and extremely
loyal. I love hoe no matter what goes wrong, He never
blames Eva just goes along where others would have run.
And then their is Jenny and Kyoko. who have turned Eva's
world upside down. This was one hell of a ride and funny to.
I found myself laughing with all the divination's Eva saw.
I think I could red a few better than her but this was a dam
good book. I hope Rebecca writes another book with Eva
and Hudson. I'd love to see where life takes them. Now
before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you
enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book,
please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like
it when you do, they value your opinions too.

This book promises "electrifying romance and high-voltage suspense in a rollicking adventure." What I read had the potential to be great, but in the end, it all became just too chaotic and confusing, and the rollicking adventure became farcical as Eva got kidnapped or put into cuffs again, and again.

There are many stories within this one book, all overlapping and jumbled together, so it is hard to stay on track. You have the supernatural element of Eva, the hotness of Hudson, the craziness of Kyoto (the elephantini), and that's without even mentioning Atlas, Edmond, and the ninjas! There are also the surrealistic divinations that Eva sees, which just helped to confuse me even more.

If you are after something that is completely different, and full of humour, then I can recommend this book. I will say that although most will enjoy it, it will take a specific reader to LOVE it.

I enjoyed the unique concept and plot of this book. The character development progressed nicely with a lot of fun endearing quirks that helped endear the supporting characters.
I would have really liked to given more than 3 stars. Alas, what kept the rating at 3 was that I found myself lost in the extreme amount of seemingly random a images in the main character's visions.
I am the type of reader who likes to look for underlying messages; as a result, I spent a lot of time trying to find symbolism in disconnected fragments. It took away from the simple pleasure of enjoying the story.
It was specially frustrating when the author went to great detail to explain an image over and over again but there was never an explanation or "why". Example, why the monopoly board for Hudson? The fact it was mentioned so many times and I can't figure out why, makes me feel like an outside to eccentric world the author has created. I want to be invited to the party AND be able to enjoy the cocktails.

This is one of the best fantasies I've ever read, and I suspect it would cross over well to science fiction readers as well. It is fast paced, unique, and absorbing. If you like stories about people with unusual powers, you will love this one. I read at every opportunity cover to cover., and when I was done, I actually wrote the author to tell her how much I liked it. I had never written to an author I didn't know before so you can imagine how impressed I was. This book would be a great movie if the author could keep them from messing it up. If you only have time for one fantasy this month, make it this one!

I mostly liked it, but at some point it got tedious and reiterative. Like trying too hard to be upbeat and fun, but getting messy and forced instead. Yes, there is certain suspension of disbelief involved (it's a touch paranormal, after all), but what does it say of it that I ended up believing the electricity curse way more than the relationship with the male interest?. Besides, 70 pages less wouldn't have hurt it.

Again, it may have been me.

Quirky and ridiculous in a good way. It’s a good thing about the electricity or else everyone would put it down to mental illness. After cute gargoyles nothing should’ve surprised me from this author, but yep. Elephant. Hudson didn’t really grow on me. I was more focused on what the sombrero meant. I liked the support and the cousins were funny. I wouldn’t say fast paced but a light hearted and easy read.

Refreshing & Original

Loved the change of pace and change of plot from many other books I've read recently. In fact the other titles I've read from this author right before this were very original and kept me glued right to the book until there was nothing left....I'm off to find more of her refreshing reads right now.
