This book starts off well and gives a lot of good reasons why to stop chasing influencers - it is relevant for today's entrepreneurs. However, there were three things I didn't like - 1) it felt quite negative in its stories about some of the influencers (maybe that is the point, but it still doesn't come off well), 2) it didn't really go into detail about what to do instead of chasing influencers - just the same old 'build an email list' that is mentioned elsewhere, and 3) it kind of just ends, without much of a solution or good conclusion. I really wanted to like this book more and the first half was good, but that was all.

Kimazni writes in a way that may not be one-size-fits-all, but it emphasizes approaches that are tried-and-true to get the word out and momentum in grassroots biz dev. Here are some tips that stood out:
-Cold emails to avoid: "Quick Question," "This is what you're missing," or "I made 7-figures using this system."
- 100 people project: get feedback from 100 people, est 15-minutes each (HeyShenee.com/labs/#peeps
- Identify your specific vertical and which major publications fit that vertical
- Sample script: "Hey xxx, I'm a fan of your website. My favorite article is: xxx, I have written a guest post that speaks to your audience, which is at the bottom of this email. (copy/paste below) Here are some samples of my work on these websites: (list website and hyperlink your work).
Thank you,
your name"
- Getting on TV: associate producer, contact them between 10:30pm and 2am. Call them with a brief pitch about a relevant topic and how you can expand upon it w/o mentioning any of your own business launches.
- Free consultation call? Don't do it. A 30-minute call can be $5, but just not free. Gets people to have skin in the game.
- google search "call for speakers [the year] for [your area of expertise]" as a place to source paid speaking gigs
- Speaking outreach template: " Name, title, experience

Inspirador en sus mejores momentos y desmiente uno de los principales mitos sobre el como ser exitoso online: no haciendo que un influencer promocione tu trabajo, sino convirtiéndote en uno a través de la consistencia y trabajo duro.

Good info but it's not a book, simply a collection of blog posts
Why do people (authors?) keep doing this? They hire someone to put together a bunch of their blog posts/articles and call it a book? It is particularly obvious with this "book". Read through and you will see how the person who put it together simply replaced every "I" with either "him" or "Kimanzi" and continued from the third person.
Also, while there is some good and valuable info (hence the 3 stars), it is all very repetitive. He (they?) uses the exact same 3 examples over, and over, and over, and over, and over throughout the book. Yes, I know he was a bread maker. I got that he hated his job. I got that he self published two books and sold 86,000 copies. I also got that he's a contributor at MindBodyGreen, HuffingtonPost and Entrepreneur. Every chapter repeated these same things.
You could remove 80% of the content of the book and it would be a very decent lead magnet PDF for his coaching business. While I do believe I got my 9 dollars worth, it was not worth my time.

Some books have an interesting premise, but that's about it. This is one of them. Apart from being annoyingly repetitive, the book barely scratched the surface of why you should stop chasing influencers, let alone show you the true path of building your business.

This book is terrible. Don't waste your time. Absolutely nothing of substance here and probably written for social proof/status than a desire to help people.

I believe this book provides very reasonable adivce. I expected to go through a "You can do it!" book but came across a "this is specifically how I did it, this is what I think you can use, and this is why it worked for me". A very good read for entrepreneurs and independent professionals who are starting from scratch and are looking for non-generic entrepreneur advise.
As I read through the book I came to think that as many specific "How to" books and articles, when getting very specific they come to be very useful for a certain time. As the business world changes they expire and that is why the generic (and not as useful) advice books keep their relevance or popularity.
