So often short stories are too short. They leave out critical details and I’m left wanting more. Under the Harvest Moon was just right, however, and now I cannot start the next story as I need to think more about this one.

I listened to the audio book & while the story was really good, the narrator's voice seemed young & unemotional.

Good story

This is my first time reading this author. This turned out to be a nice romance, despite the battered theme of the story. Older man falls for younger woman.

After the first chapter I knew I wouldn't be able to put this down, completely absorbed by the story. I instantly fell in love with Naomi and Brock, and wished the story was longer so I wouldn't say goodbye to these characters just yet. Well written, earnest, funny, charming, and clearly written with a lot of heart.

I have been a fan of Beth's writing for a long time now, and I always expect that her books, whether a novella or a novel, will be outstanding. This novella did not disappoint me in the least. She had my attention right from the prologue....I couldn't believe what I was reading, although I am sure there are some Amish wives out there experiencing what Naomi was.

I loved the way that Beth wrote Naomi's character. Here is a woman who suffered great abuse, however even after her husbands death kept it secret thinking it was her fault. I can only imagine the sigh of relief she breathed after her husbands funeral as she was about to start on the adventure of single parenting. At least she could do things without worrying about the consequences. Knowing there are women out there who probably feel the same as Naomi, I am so glad Beth wrote this in a realistic way. I feel it is easier to connect to her character by doing so.

Beth did a fantastic job of bringing in Englischer Brook Mulligan. He was exactly the type of man Naomi needed in order to grow and move on. Although in novella form, I did not feel at all like this storyline was rushed. I hope I get to see more of this couple in the future!!

I received a complimentary copy of An Amish Harvest from the publisher in exchange for an honest review which I have given.

Beth Wiseman reminds us that things aren’t always as they seem and that Amish people are just that, people. Though they strive to live the way God wants all of us to, they have struggles too.

Naomi’s husband Stephen, while a good father to their two little girls, took his frustrations out on her. She covered her bruises with concealer so that the community wouldn’t know what was going on in her home. She thought his fits of rage were her fault. She prayed God would help her be a better wife.

Stephen died unexpectantly leaving her with a baby on the way and a harvest to bring in. No one knew of the baby yet. She had lost one and wanted to wait awhile before she shared the news this time. Her father had an English friend that he hired to bring in Naomi’s Alfalfa.

Brock was a widower and a gentle man. It took some doing to get Naomi to trust him after the abuse she’d received from Stephen during their marriage.

Read Naomi’s story and meet her adorable little girls Abby and Esther Rose. Does Brock gain her trust and affection? What about the problem that he’s English?

Under the Harvest Moon by Beth Wiseman is a charming novella. Young, newly widowed with the death of an abusive husband, Naomi knows she is expected to remarry. How can she ever trust another man? What about her father's friend Brock who has been hired to help with the harvest? Widower and not Amish, how can she even consider him? And now the superstitious neighbor plants fear in Naomi. Will a bag of herbs bring protection from the powers of the harvest moon? Sweet characters, good story line that moves quickly and woven through with God's love and care for His children and Wiseman presents readers with a delightful story.

Another really good read by author Beth Wiseman. I have read several of Beth's books and she is a very talented author. This novella is in "An Amish Harvest". This love story between a young Amish widow and a middle aged English widower was sweet, tender and romantic. There was a lot of story packed in this 100 pages, The widow also had 2 adorable daughters that added levity to the story. I highly recommend this tender story. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review which I have given.

Surprising, this is the first story of Beth Wiseman's I've read. I have several of her books on my TBR list just based on the wonderful reviews I've heard from fellow bloggers, but yet to have the opportunity to do so. After her story, Under the Harvest Moon, I can simply say, I'm looking forward to each of her novels for sure. The underlying theme of dealing with physical abuse, and the shame associated with it was strong and presented well. The connection between Amish and the Englisch also plays a role, while the children added humor to the story. Beth sure pack quite the punch in this one!

It is such a great book, I loved this book!

It is full of love, pain, heartache, hope, faith and learning to let go of the past and moving forward with life. Naomi's abusive husband passes on leaving her with a baby on the way and the harvest to do. No one knew of the baby yet, as she'd lost one she understandably wanted to wait a while before she shared the news. Her father's Englisher friend Brock has been hired to help with the harvest they soon become friends. Naomi's neighbour plants fear in her about her unborn baby and the full moon. Naomi doesn't know how can she ever trust another man?

God's love and care for His children shines throughout this novel.

My heart went out to Naomi instantly. A young Mother who lost her husband too soon. I felt like I didn't want the story to end wants Brock came back to express to her. For this to be a short story the details, characters and timelines were so detailed.

This Novella is a part of a novel with other short Amish Stories.
