As a young man, Martel stood against a tyrant and it nearly cost him his life. When the prince who saved him ascended the throne, Martel swore himself to the new king’s service. But over the years his gratitude and loyalty have deepened to something far more.

To stop a madman, Pyrrhos sacrificed his chance at happiness. So he devoted himself to leading his people out of his father’s shadow, no matter the resistance he faced. Now he has been given the gift of a grandson to pass his legacy on to and he is determined to secure the throne for his chosen heir.

And even though it is selfish when he knows his time is running out, he cannot stop reaching for the man who should have been his.

As Pyrrhos’ fate draws closer, treachery from within the court will threaten everything he holds dear, forcing him into a painful choice.

When the truth about Pyrrhos is revealed, Martel will have to defy fate itself to save the man he loves.

I LOVE this series! It's SO SO good, and I think it's so underrated because I haven't see any of my GR friends talk about it. But I just really, really enjoy this series. If you love dragon shifters (and are OK with m/m/m because that's the first book pairing, and I highly recommend reading that one before this one because they definitely build off one another) then you must give this series a try! It's rich in emotion, passion, and there's PLOT haha.

I can't wait for the third book - Bane and Jaden, right? I hope that the wait won't be too long!

Anyone know if this author uses social media of any kind? I'd love to follow updates so I don't miss out on the next one.

I read this book some time ago...long enough to not remember much of it, but luckily I have a rating system in my e-reader, which clearly says 2 stars. What I can remember is that I was bored and that I was really bothered by the fact that the Pyrrhos' sacrifice and all the time that him and Martel could have been together, but didn't (we're talking years and years) was basically for nothing, pointless.

Aaaaand that's it...can't recommend it.

I think I liked this book even better than the first one. All the revelations, the political machinations, the love between Martel and Pyrrhos, the king, and the ending. I loved seeing Josiah really start to come into his own, and handle life at court as the king's grandson, and his chosen heir.

I really loved Pyrrhos, I think the best, because of his strength and his sacrifice all these years. I look forward to seeing more of this world, as I'm impressed with the writing, and the stories.

Excellent

I am loving this series! Misha did an excellent job of emoting the longing that Pyrrhos had for Martel, his pride in Josiah, his despair for himself, and his concern for his people. I found myself completely caught up in their story and am eager to read the next book with Bane and Jaden.
