I love to hear couples who stay together even during tumultuous times. It’s refreshing.

Mrs. George Jones writes the stories of 16 Nashville wives, including herself. She seeks to show the world what it is like to be married to a country superstar. She has a gentle way of telling each story with little judgement, but also with a healthy dose of skepticism. She was searching for the truth and she's clearly annoyed when it seems like she gets something less from the wives.

It's a more satisfying experience than searching for information in the tabloids, as Mrs. Jones really searches for the meat of the story, never settling for soundbytes. The book was written quite a while back, so a number of the couples are no longer together.

Great Read For Country Music usic Fans.

I received the book in October. And I am Currently Reading it.
This is a great read for fans of country music. It's nice to hear the wives speak out. You learn a whole new side to your favorite stars.Like did you know Jeff Foxworthy attends bible studies regularly. And Kix & Barbara Brooks are a "normal" family. No maids & nannies in that household. Also, Alan Jackson's wife tells about the ups & downs of her marriage to THE hottest star in country music. So if you are interested in hearing what the wives think of their husbands success(there's Arch Kelley, Wynonas hubby) get this book

I picked this up as I lived in Nashville in the 90's and was somewhat involved in the music /entertainment industry.

It was interesting, though dated, of course. It was really kind of sad to read the stories of some of the wives (Sandy Brooks, former wife of Garth, comes to mind) who were very trusting and complimentary of their husbands, whose defense of their marriage and husband's integrity turned out to be ill placed.

I enjoyed gleaning bits of Nashville nostalgia, but I don't know if others would enjoy this book. It was written adequately.

Don't waste your time. This is supposed to be the candid stories of the wives behind some of country music's biggest stars. Mrs. George Jones, Mrs. Merle Haggard, Mrs. Glen Campbell and Mrs. Johnny Paycheck and so on. Every one is happily married to their best friend and there's never even a squabble. Life is perfect and wonderful all the time. The reason I give the book one star is because several times the compassion and generosity from Johnny Cash is mentioned. He remains, in my opinion, the best country music has ever offered.
