Mara Armand, director of a foundation for the protection and study of humans with extrasensory abilities, has made telepathic contact with an alien starship captain orbiting the earth. After weeks of nightly telepathic visits with Captain Sander, Mara develops an intimate mental relationship with her unseen alien lover. She experiences his need, his passion, and his sensual touch, but it is a bittersweet relationship for the laws of the Explorers forbid them to ever meet.
An accident in space changes everything and Mara and Sander are given the chance they never thought they'd have. Threatened by World Federation troops from without and jealous hatred from within, their survival now depends on the strength of their bond and a ragtag army of young Sensitives willing to risk their lives for an alien starship captain.
Some people just seem to know they are meant to write, but it can still take a while to figure out exactly what their career will entail. Kate Douglas started out writing radio copy for a country western radio station in 1972, wrote and illustrated an educational cartoon strip for the American Mosquito Control Association for a number of years, was a newspaper reporter for a small town weekly where she covered everything from high school sports to drug busts, and then, in the mid-1980s, decided to write her first romance.
Many submissions and rejections followed.
In 1998, she sold to a small ebook publisher before anyone knew what an ebook was, but it wasn't until 2005, a full twenty years after finishing that first romance, that she signed with a New York publisher.
In January 2006, Kensington Publishing launched their Aphrodisia imprint of erotic romance with Kate's Wolf Tales, a sexy paranormal series about a lost race of shapeshifters. She went on to write 21 novels and novellas in that series, then wrote three other series for Kensington before moving to St. Martin's Press.
She has two series with SMP--The Intimate Relations series complete with three novels and one novella of romantic suspense set in California's wine country, and an erotic paranormal series, Feral Passions, set in California's Trinity Alps.
She is also continuing her Spirit Wild series, the sequel to Wolf Tales, independently.
Kate and her husband of over forty-five years have two adult children and six grandchildren. They live in the small town of Healdsburg, California, in the heart of the beautiful Sonoma County wine country.
Kate is the master at erotic romance and her first is no different. Love this early erotic story from Kate, absolutely check it out! I loved the whole series!
Thanks Kate for sending me this series from your private collection, so cool to have for my Kate shelf!
Lionheart was a decent way to spend part of my morning. While not earth-shattering, it was entertaining. I wasn't really a fan of the romance (the sex was more fun) and it was a tad predictable, but the world was intriguing. Probably more like a 2.5 rating for me.
Lionheart was a free Kindle book I downloaded on 8/23/2012 for the Why Buy the Cow? reading challenge.
My weakness for sexy sci-fi-esque books continues unabated. I just can't resist those aliens who want to share themselves in a very primal fashion. I liked the paranormal elements (humans with telepathy, empathy, and telekinesis) as well as the introduction of a sexy alien captain who likes to uses his powers for loving, not fighting. Intriguing, fast paced and fun with plenty of set-up for more dirty sexin' later.
This book was a free Kindle download I picked up 08/23/12 for the Why Buy the Cow? reading challenge.
This was a quick and sensual read. If you like Lora Leigh's breeds series with a little sci-fi thrown into the mix then you might like this. It's essentially a breed-type being that falls in love with a human and everyone lives happily ever after. My kind of story for a Sunday afternoon! Happy Reading!
The story started out really good then got boring and too theatrical. I know this book is part of a series. I may give one of the other books a try. Hopefully book 1 was just a bad start to a good series.
Written more for teenagers, with steamy scenes. Just not right for me at all, so I rate it 2.5 stars. The h is a leader 'by funeral' (her father did actually die) while she has skills, it is not leadership. The people she leads have 'Xmen' abilities, she does too yet, yet admits under her leadership the organisation has faltered. The H was definitely alien, cat like and that was great but he was written as a beta, we find out very little about his race. No depth to the story at all, just steamy sex.
