I am disgusted to have this book on my read list, I hated every chapter with a burning passion, right up until the last couple of chapters. The last section made me understand what I was reading, and I realised my standards were far too high for what I had forced my poor eyes and brain to sit through. I could handle it as the story came to a close, but the main character was the most pathetic push over I have ever experienced in a book. To have this excuse for a character be contrasted with an over the top psychopath intelligent businessman was overkill to the extreme.
I felt nothing but frustration and anger throughout the whole length of the book. The way it was written, the inconsistencies in character personalities, history and motives, but most of all: the characters in general.
I understand this was not made to be an intellectual story with a well constructed plot and character development, it’s a soft-core quickie. The last few chapters change the characters completely to what you as the reader wanted them to be all along: expressing somewhat normal emotions.
Anyway, I thought I’d give this genre a try. Big mistake, but what can I expect out of the $1 bargain bin.
