I have had this author and a fair few of her series' on my want to read shelf for ages.

Rather liked the look of this one so eventually bought it.

Unfortunately it was not good for me.

I could not warm to the heroine at all! Her reaction to going through some magical portal was just ridiculous. (and yes it is a book about aliens and other dimensions etc, it is going to verge on the ridiculous) but really, going around shaking hands with everyone, taking photos of the space ship as her dad would be so jealous! ugh. She was just generally a bit too try hard perky and kooky a character to be anything other than annoying in all reality. And she kept chuckling.........silently......to herself......

And given her rather unconventional upbringing, where all things sex related were not hidden away or seen as something to be embarrassed about, I refuse to believe that she would be a virgin, and even if she was a virgin have NEVER EVER had an orgasm! But manages to turn into a sex maniac temptress within pages. And for some reason described oral sex to a bunch of strangers. And despite being a previously completely inexperienced virgin, is bringing forth the sexual revolution to a planet where they have apparently never manged to work out sex just might be fun!

And the writing.....how many POV's do we need in a book. And it was not always clear that we have a POV change. Occasionally within a page you would have multiple POV with no clear distinction made between any of them. And then we would have the case where we would get a scene in Tinks POV, then we move to the hero, and spend a few sentences confused till you realise you have actually jumped back in time to get his POV for what he was doing coming up to the very same scene we have just read about. Made for a confusing disjointed read.

Repetitive description used constantly, often within the same sentence.

A rather disappointing 1 star for me.

I didnt connect with either MC. Not even the smexy times could save this one. The story has ton of potential but the world building took a back seat to all the sex.

I kept thinking if Tink represents the females of Earth, then we are all doomed!! She was just too over the top in everything she did! And so repetitive! And call me a prude but what was with all the kissing (on the lips!) between Tink and every guy in her proximity? Is it possible to be affectionate without having to stroke/pat/touch and kiss other guys? Especially since these alien guys were so receptive to that type of physical affection? -IMO - it felt creepy how she took it in stride that she could make them aroused so easily. Like they were almost childlike in their knowledge of sex and she somehow managed to make it vulgar rather than educational. It just left me feeling dirty.

Not continuing with this serious. Luckily this was a free read on my Kindle.

The one good thing that came of reading this is that it reminded me of Johanna Lindsey's Heart of a Warrior. It has some smexy times but the sci-fi plot is fleshed out and the world building is pretty awesome. I smell a re-read of that book in my near future ;)

Three and a half for this fun sci fi read. If it's something light and sexy with a sci fi twist you enjoy than this book is for you. We essentially have a genius (Cosmos) whose best female friend Tink somehow ends up travelling through a portal he's created and landing on an alien space ship. These aliens have very different ideas about being sexually compatible and there my fellow readers is where the fun begins. Tink our heroine is sweet, sassy and virginal with a personality and confidence that simply beggars belief ! Match her with big, growly
J'Kar and what ensues is an instant romance with a slight twist that felt a tad predictable. Still Tink is a vibrant personality who certainly shines bright but for this reader the ending felt rushed as if the author is saving things for the next book which is about one of Tinks sisters.

I absolutely freaking love this book. I have read it over and over again. Anytime I want a little pick me up, this is the book I read,

Jasmine "Tinker" Bell, better known as "Tink", is an adorable character. With her curly, blonde hair and her petite stature, she seems rather fragile and meek. But, absolutely not. She is smart, like off-the-charts smart, plus she also has a "smart" mouth. She is tough as all get out, and will fight for what she thinks is right. She is a mechanic and lives with Cosmos, a gorgeous brainiac, and no, they are more like brother and sister. No love-triangle here.

Cosmos has built a portal to who-knows-where, but he needs Tink to upgrade his power source, which she does and, boy howdy, it opens and..., what do you expect?!?! Of course, the little hellion went to have a look-see. She finds alien beings, like a giant Iguana creature (she totally kicks its a$$), plus the hunky alien, that ends up being her bond mate.

Now, she may be a virgin-by-choice, but she is well informed, thanks to her mom, and she can't wait for that perfect guy, you know, the one. Well, J'kar‘Tag Krell Manok, a Prime warrior from a very, very distant galaxy, ends up being "the one". But he is a gorgeous, giant of a man. He has silver eyes and dark skin, with tattoos that run down the side of his face, down his neck, all the way to his hip bone. J'kar is the ultimate Alpha-male. He is protective, possessive, but ever so gentle and loving to his "little one", Tink.

This is a steamy, sexy novel. He is alien, so some of the sex stuff is not quite the same, but I'm not going to tell you, because it will spoil the surprise. This is not a BDSM book, but there is a small amount of bondage, but it is necessary to the alien story line. You will have to see for yourself.

Overall, I think all those dumb-a$$ reviewers that talk about how Tink was not believable in the things she could do, or that "RITA", a computer program Tink's mom created was too ridiculous to believe, well...

One: Everyone knows that there are crazy smart people out there, like two year-old kids reading encyclopedias. There was a fourteen year-old in the town I live that graduated from med school, she has a doctorate and is now going to Australia to be part of medical research team. So to say that Tink, who is 20 years old, could not be some sort of genius is just stupid and ill-informed.

Two: RITA is a computer program that Tilly Bell (Tink's mom) created. Tilly is a computer geek, who designs and develops software and computer programs for engineering firms around the world. Uhh, these people do exist that actually perform these types of jobs. So, what your point again?!?!

People, this is FICTION! It has aliens in it! Everything is not supposed to be believable anyway. Geez!

I love this story. I love the characters. I love the out-of-this-world sex (pun intended). It has action, attempted murder, funny "Meg Ryan" moment (you'll see) and sweet lovin'. Yep, I just talked myself into another read-thru.

Gotta go, my e-reader is calling me!

4 HIGHLY AMUSING STARS

I don't honestly know what it was about this book that had me charmed!
But I was under its spell, or maybe "Tink" magic worked on me as well.

This book I just loved it!!
description

This story was completely unlike anything I had ever read before! It was just fun and different.
But mostly it was unique!

The hero J'kar, was a complete alpha and totally gone over his "Bond mate" Tink. He was all about protecting her and keeping her safe.

Tink was sweet and sassy with oh so fun loving in nature that I wanted to read about her.
She was a fun loving fixer/singer, who goes through a magic gateway into another world. A galaxy where there are few women and man battle monster to protect their mates and they way of life.

When they got together it was awesome! But the heroine was very conflicted because her whole world was literally going to change!

description

I SERIOUSLY LOVED THIS STORY!
The stand out moments for me in this book was when Tink gave the Alien crew the sex talk about oral sex. A la Meg Ryan.
Seriously, that was a hoot!
I could just imagine their hot and bothered faces as she described the act!
And the hero, when he experienced it via their psychic connection.

description

And also this scene when she finds out she is expecting twins
"What is her problem?”
Tink had had enough. Sitting up straight in J’kar’s arms she glared at the High Chancellor. “I’ll tell you what my problem is buddy. Your son is one potent son of a bitch. I’m pregnant with twins! You try landing on an alien planet, deal with a dickhead like you, and find out you are going to have, not one but two babies, and see if you don’t feel a little overwhelmed.” Tink shouted in anger and frustration.
“Baby?” Teriff whispered.
“Two babies?” J’kar said staring at Tink’s stomach totally stunned.
“Good breeding, brother.” Derik said with a huge grin on his face.
“What is a ‘dickhead’?” Teriff asked as he poured another glass of potent wine into his cup.

FYI: Teriff is J'kar's father and he is the Dickhead High Chancellor.
I was just ROTFL!

description

Honestly, this book had me alternating between laughing and self-fanning, as it was funny and smoking hot!
I hope that this whole book series is going to be winner for me and that they are all like this.

I hope you will give it a try, if only for the laughs.
Now it's a good thing this is a book series that has been completely finished so I can just pick up the next book and the next and the next.
But it's also why it lost a star.
It left me hanging! And I don't like that!

Great news also, is that it's completely safe.

Nice little mindless read. Tink was a Mary Sue, but amusing enough to be forgiven for it. The aliens were interesting and it looks like the sexual revolution is about to erupt on planet Baade. Some hilarious moments about aliens learning about oral sex. I mean, really great comedic timing on those scenes. Not sure if I'll read the next one, but the story arc continues with an unresolved threat and Tink's sister being snatched from Earth by her alien bond mate.

The poor editing kinda tanks it, though. Tink is suddenly Trisha, words are missing, the s on the end of plural words is gone, etc. Poorly timed exposition - we literally get the entire history of an alien race in the middle of a fight scene. Things are repeated constantly - I swear Tink looks out a window for the first time three different times and dodged the same arm twice.

I would not recommend paying actual money to read this, but it's cute.

This was a cute read that reminded me a lot of Ral's Woman in some ways. (I guess when you're an 'Alien guy w human female' story addict, similarities are bound to happen.)

** SPOILER WARNING **

Jasmine "Tink" Bell is a busy girl. She's a mechanic, a student and plays in a band on the weekends.
She lives in a large warehouse with her BFF who happens to be a guy named Cosmos. Cosmos sounds big, smart and yummy, but these two are just friends. Cosmos is an inventor. Tink frequently works with Cosmos on his inventions.

As the book begins, Cosmos is out of town and Tink is working on the power generator for Cosmos' latest invention. Tink accidentally triggers it, and it's a doorway to another place. Tink sees a guy fighting a loosing battle with another humanoid she thinks looks like an iguana. She can't help herself and goes through the doorway and clobbers the iguana man with her hammer. Then she patches up the human-like guy she saved - who happens to be the little brother of the commander of the space ship they're on. The doorway closes and Tink helps get the guy Derek (sp?) to someone who can help heal him. When she makes it to the bridge, all the guys are staring at her in silence.

(You also get to read multiple POVs through out the book which is kind of nice)

The commander can't take his eyes off her and she she accidentally touches him, his mating mark flares to life on his hand. Tink also gets a mark on her hand. At this point, a new dimentional doorway opens, Cosmos grabs her and the doorway closes. J'kar, the commander is going nuts because Tink was his mate.

There was some hokey-ness that occurs. It's explained by Tink & Cosmos super computer (RITA) copies itself (via Tink's phone) into the alien space ship & begins learning their language and about the aliens.

Meanwhile, back in their home, Tink is eating less and sleeping/crying more. Cosmos is concerned.
A week later, the alien's open a doorway into Cosmos home, knock him out, then coerce him into taking them to find Tink performing with her band.

A near death experience of Tink getting stabbed by a senator's son has them taking Tink to their spaceship, Tink makes friends with all the guys on the ship & explaining oral sex to them. Later on they see Tink & J'kar making out in a corridor. They all have perpetual hard-ons for earth women now. A video of both session gets out and everyone sees it. J'kar isn't happy about it. All of these "Prime" alien man want/love/pant Tink because their (very few) females don't enjoy sex and generally just 'put up with it'. Human women are passionate and enjoy sex.

These aliens have fangs that come out during sex that they use to inject a horny/fertile chemical into women. So of course J'kar knocks Tink up within days...with twins. (Which has never happened on their planet/history)
When they get to his planet, J'kar's father, the King is an absolute dick to Tink and thinks she's controlling his sons. He orders her to be medically inspected.
Tink has a meltdown since her phobia is doctors.

Tink wants her family with her so badly, so since J'kar's father learned about the oral sex thing and likes it, he approves one member of her family being brought to their world.
Meanwhile, they're all scared Tink will be kidnapped by a rival clan, and the senator's son that stabbed Tink has escaped from their jail and is lose on their world. (They brought him to kill if she died).
Queue next book.

So, it was kind of a HEA, but not quite.

Definitely erotica, M/F but don't expect Ellora's Cave level of (ohholycrapIgottagobealoneforawhile) style erotica.

Recommended, but as filler reading.
(You can see the next 5 in the series pretty easily since Tink has two single sisters, single guy friend Cosmos and single best gal pals in the band.)

Loved it the second time around also!

This book was still very good the second time around. I love the world building and the story is very exciting and interesting. If I remember correctly these books need to be read in order since one story moves into the next. That's not to say that each couple doesn't get their HEA, because they do, but I think there may be arcs between the books that it makes sense to read them in order.

I'll just say it right out. SE Smith has potential. There were moments in the story, but those were few and far in between. SE Smith needs more experience as a writer in order to bring out her potential.

Here are my complaints with this book (I'm too lazy to put it into a nice structured format, so here it is in point form):

-Mary Sue type main character.
-Flat characters.
-Too much info dumping. Like really. All chapter 1 is is info dumping.

-Bad writing:
A tall, dark hair man was fighting with... Tink shook her head again. A... What the hell was that? Tink moved closer as the man raised his sword. Holy crap, the guy had a huge sword! The man looked like he was fighting a big iguana! The other creature was hissing, its tongue moving in and out as it swung what looked like a double-edged sword toward the tall, dark-haired man. The dark-haired man moved backward trying to stay out of the iguana dude's reach.

Bad grammar on the first part and repetitive overuse of the description. We KNOW he's tall and dark-haired. Stop repeating it. There is no other 'he' around. So it's okay to use 'he.' We won't be confused.

-Unfocused writing and abuse of limited third person POV. For example, one minute we're in J'kar's head and the next (no scene break) we are in Borj's head. This happened in other instances as well. There's a lot of 'head hopping'.
And, in regards to the unfocused part, Smith introduces us to and gives details (in the form of info dumping) about side characters that we only ever see once--very briefly.

-There's practically no plot. The one thing that could have been used to advance the plot, wasn't. I'm talking about the random . The author's technique in employing it was very poor, and it was a totally random plot line that went nowhere. Overall, the author had very poor plot construction.

-The romance between the two main leads was unbelievable. It was based purely on lust and nothing else.

-Other aspects of the story also had me questioning the author's credibility, such as RITA, the super advanced portal, and the super smart geniuses around Tink (like her amazing family members and Cosmos).

Consensus: I decided to try out this author only because she advertised herself as winning some kind of Author of the Year 2014 award, but I'm really iffy about chancing another book. Maybe I should try reading a book published in 2014 or later? It's obvious her earlier works need serious, heavy editing. And no, proof-editing is not the same thing.

I did not expect much from this book given the cover which looks like a porn DVD and given the cheesy description. What a pleasant surprise!!! I loved it! Very, very hot sex...J'kar is a total alpha which is hot, and Tink has a lot of spirit in her and spunk! Granted, the story is a LITTLE unbelievable, and the whole construction of the portal, RITA, the addition of English to the translators and the chips in the humans' ears so they could be understood was a little fuzzy to me, but not critical to the enjoyment of the book. What surprised me the MOST out of this book was how much I laughed throughout it, hence the humor tag. It was absolutely hysterical watching all the reaction to Tink's sex education tape not only on the ship but once they got home to Baard. It really wasn't so much sci-fi as it was just two worlds coming together and two people finding their soulmates in each other. Loved it, loved it, loved it and it ended with J'kar and Tink fucking in the shower against the wall. For me, that's like the cherry on the sundae.

BEST QUOTES:

Great light read with a lot of hot sex and humor.

Tink was vivacious, open, sweet, and very friendly. She was smart. She was tired. She went through a door without thought to her own safety. This was were the two worlds collide and bring about a revelation for a world so far away. J'kar was the huge alien warrior that changed the world of one Tink Bell. She changed his in ways that would be felt through his whole planet. Before he can even blink she's gone. Apart could be the death for them both. But there are other forms of danger that could take J'kar's Tink away from him.

I love RITA. Cosmos. The characters were engaging, interesting, and otherworldly. This Tink found her Neverland and so much more. Love this introduction to the world of Cosmos' Gateway.

Narrator Suzanne Elise Freeman did do a wondeful job on Tink. It was something about the pitch and diction that made Tink truly come to life for me she was free, open, friendly, sweet, strong, and confident. I could feel all those things in the narration. The audio was clear and hiccup free.

4.5 Tink’s Neverland Stars

I am not new to this author, sometimes her books are huge hits for me and sometimes they are just ok. This was a hit. She does Science Fiction Romance soooooo well.

I loved that Tink was small but mighty and that she might be small and have a tiny voice but she is big in heart and spirit.

J’kar is the alpha Alien and I know that might seem wrong just saying that but this book was awesome. His species getting a little turned upside down because of a human you have to laugh at that. Oh the irony am I write? ;)

I liked that all they have to do is touch and they would know if they are meant to be, and the pull is there. I think that is sweet and something that is proof they belong, they might not be the same “race” but they belong.

I really enjoyed the narration to; I think she does a great job giving the characters their own voices.

Page Turner!

I couldn't put this wonderful story down. From beginning to end I was completely captivated. Great world-building, Engaging characters, and an engrossing story.

I loved Tink and the way everyone reacted to her. Poor aliens had no idea what they were getting into when Tink appeared on their ship.

One of my favorite scenes is when Tink's in the mess area and tells the all-male crew (who are woefully ignorant of how to please their partner) about oral sex. OMG, I laughed so hard.

Tink and J'Kars romance is full of fun and lots of passion. Be aware that this has very sexy scenes and passionate scenes, if you don't like lots of sex and passion which can be full on this might not be your thing. But on the other hand there's lots of laughs in this book. I found myself laughing aloud many times, I love that there is lots of fun and laughs. Really good read.

When I first began reading this book I thought the premise sounded familiar and realized if the aliens were vampires instead you would be reading "The Vampire Coalition" by J.S. Scott. To Ms. Smith credit her book was published first by several months which makes me wonder if Ms. Scott took certain ideas from this series. I do agree with some of the readers that this story ended poorly, I felt as if there were several chapters missing in the end and I can only surmise that Ms. Smith will follow up on this story with book two, three and four as she gets into the other characters lives. For that reason I gave three stars.

What I disagree with is the people who read this book and destroy the rating based on the grammatical errors they found in the book. As a self published writer it takes a lot of work to not only write and publish your work but to get others to read it. A lot of authors put their work on fan fiction where others who read it point out the errors for the author to fix. Fifty Shades started there and even after it was edited several times and finally released to the public by a profession publishing company there are errors to be found. I'm sorry but I'm sick of readers who feel like they have to take a red pen to someone else's work in the form of star ratings. Personally I would like to see some of these readers attempt to write and publish a book of their own. It takes money for a decent editor and in the world of self publishing that money is not always available. I'm sorry for $2.99 don't expect to get a perfect copy. I think a book should be judged on its storyline and in this case I think Ms. Smith did a decent job of creating entertaining characters, enjoyable and sometimes funny sex scenes and overall an interesting plot. I would have gladly given her a four star rating if I felt this book gave me a sense of completion, still I would recommend it to read as light entertainment.

I’ve had Tink’s Neverland by S.E. Smith in my tbr pile for quite awhile. It’s was recommended to me by several people and I just had to work my way to it.

Well, I’m glad I finally finished this piece of sci-fi fantasy. I did enjoy it. It has humor and aliens that once they recognize their life mate become protective and attentive - even cherishing their partner, in their way. They are definite Alpha-male types and Tink/FMC is a little spitfire, at least at first. Action takes place first on earth with Tink/FMC walking through an earth portal which brings her onto J’Kar and the Prime Warrior’s/MMC, spaceship. The story concludes with the arrival of the spaceship at J’Kar’s home planet. Tink’s Neverland is bk#1 in a series of #7 books (at this time). It has a HEA and could be read as a standalone, although J’Kar’s brothers each get their own story as well as his sister and Tink’s good earth friend Cosmos, who built the earth portal.

I recommend Tink’s Neverland to readers of (steamy) light sci-fi/fantasy romance novels, those who enjoy alien romances, and space operas with HEAs.

Reader Cautions - This is Not a Clean novel.
I believe Tink’s Neverland is meant for adult readers, 18 and older. Violence is minimal/PG movie level but profanity is used frequently, and steamy sexual intimacy occurs between the 2 main characters on-scene a number of times and is discussed candidly by several characters, making this novel not appropriate for young readers or for those who would be offended by such.
On a side note, Tink/FMC enters the alien’s ship and later returns to it (pretty much) on her own free will. She is not abducted, taken or held against her will. Tink’s Neverland is not dark, rather it has an upbeat feel to it. These may be deciding factors for some readers.

S.E. (Susan) Smith does a great job of creating an alien race in "Tink's Neverland". Jasmine "Tinker" Bell is a pint-sized mechanic who lives with an eccentric genius friend (Cosmos) in a small college-town converted warehouse. The local electric company loves Cosmos copious consumption, and Tink tweaks the massive generator he uses to increase its amps. During one marathon session, Tink's latest effort powers up a portal to another world, and she stumbles onto a ship in the middle of a battle in another galaxy without an exit!

After gazing around in geeky awe, touching one of the warriors, and wondering how the heck she'd ever get back, Cosmos re-opens the portal and grabs her. Unfortunately for the warriors, her cellphone stayed and downloaded its personality-laden AI program (aka RITA) into their computer. Even worse, the touch she shared with J'Kar forged a mating link, and he was left without a way to get Tink back...or was he?

A great introduction to the "Cosmos' Gateway" series, the novel shows off Smith's ability to write a really great romance while also giving her readers a sci-fi fantasy fix and inducing the desire to read the next story in the set.

This first book is the Cosmos’ Gateway series introduces us to a whole new world inhabited by a bunch of alpha warriors with one mind track when it comes to women.
So J’Tar didn’t know what hits him when he met Tink, a pint sized woman with an inborn fire as big as her stubbornness.
This book even if it deals with some strong themes, is the funniest of all.
We are introduced to the Prime Warriors, they are all strong alphas, but their lack of knowledge concerning women is incredible. They see them as weak creatures to be contained and unable to enjoy intercourses with males without some kind of chemical help.
Tink is a smart young woman who by accident opens a portal created by her best friend in another world, and never she will be locked nor shielded like she was some fragile breakable girl.
This first book is a lot about the sexual education on both sides of these different worlds, which causes a lot of funny sexy moments.

Tinker and J'Kar. This is over the top silly, including the heroine. She's way too perfect, jack of all trades little miss perfect. But, strangely, I really enjoyed her. The Hero, was more of a cookie cutter character. No real depth. He could be one of many heroes by this author. That doesn't mean he wasn't mr. alpha sexy guy... Tinker's genius friend, Cosmos, has created a gateway to another galaxy. Late after work, Tinker stumbles into Cosmos' doorway and into an alien spaceship where she saves a boy from a scary alien. It's a series of quirky yet dangerous events back and forth through Cosmos' gate until Tinker meets J'Kar's parents. Honestly it's pretty silly, but in a very entertaining way. Again, the author does too much setting up for the rest of the series in the first book, but that's my pet peeve. Really this is a fun tongue in cheek mars needs women romance.

When I found this book . I thought Tink would be a awesome chick with mechanics skills and she will show this world her skills. I was wrong.. I am starting to get really upset with alot of the romance books having the same plots and ending.. why is it that she kicks ass but then gets mindless after a few bangs, then ok to leave everything , then is pregos. Really. Mann!!! I had tears at the end because I had soooooo much want for this book..I am asking myself if I really want to read the others and bite the bullet.. Oh ok ..I did like the fight scene with her and that senator tool son.The emotions in that had me drawn. but then drop.

Lots of potential for a series starter

I'm glad I gave this book a try. It was a unique world created. Here's my breakdown

The pros:
* I enjoyed the characters - even the secondary ones
* It flowed well - never at any point did I tire of the storyline
* the sex was hot

The cons:
* a 22 year old book virgin
* insta-love
* the ending left much to be desired - I wouldn’t call it a cliffhanger, but much was left unresolved - I supposed we will get our answers in future books

Overall, it was enjoyable. Ill check out the next book.

After reading Val's review of a sucky book featuring a girl named Tinker I realized I had also read a sucky erotica featuring a girl named Tinker and somehow forgot to transfer that review. So here it is:

You are suppose to cheer for the main character to get her man. I wanted her booted off the planet. This is the whiny sister-in-law you dread having. Also the authors supposition that after generations an entire planet is having bad sex and needs an imaginative virgin to teach them is absurd.

Yeah it's a short review but the point is it sucked. 'Nuff said.

3.5 stars, good but it's not exactly my favorite.

I actually enjoyed the storyline, but I feel that there's a bit strangeness that I can't really shake it off. Especially with the alien thingy, I still can't wrap my mind around it. But overall I liked it. The idea's pretty unique. Tink's pretty fun to read heroine too, she's happy and 'innocent'. Very Interesting.

I'm jumping now to the second installment of the series!
