He’s a kinky dream come true—and her only protection from danger.
Eight months after her (cheating, almost-ex) husband’s death, Suzanne Mayhew has a plan to move on with her life. First sell off Frank’s classic cars, starting with the red vintage Mustang convertible he never let her drive. Second get her unexplored kink on with a delicious younger man.
Preferably the one an old friend sends around, ostensibly to check out the Mustang. Neil Callahan—Boston cop, Dom, fifteen years her junior.
Neil feels the mutual sizzle, but if the blush staining her cheeks is any indication, her flirting skills are a little rusty. Though his instinct tells him to take things slow with the recent widow, he can’t resist inviting her along for a test drive—for the whole weekend.
Throwing caution to the wind, Suzanne takes him up on it. But they’re barely out of the driveway when Neil’s cop instincts kick in. They’ve got a tail…and it looks dangerously like her ex’s secrets looming large—and deadly—in their rear-view mirror.
Spies, lies and vile bad guys. A meddling BFF. Inappropriate use of kitchen tools. Completely appropriate use of rope and floggers. Your mileage may vary, depending on battery life.
Teresa Noelle Roberts started writing stories in kindergarten and she hasn’t stopped yet. A prolific author of short erotica, she’s also a published poet and fantasy writer—but BDSM-spiced contemporaries, hot paranormals, and sexy science fiction romances have become her favorites. Drive is the first book I've read by Teresa Noelle Roberts and I honestly had no idea what to expect going in but that blurb drew me in and that warning sealed the deal! Romantic suspense with some kink?! Yes, please!! Unfortunately, while I did enjoy Drive, it wasn't everything I was hoping it'd be.
So the story goes like this... It's been eight months since Suzanne's almost-ex husband died and she's finally ready to stop feeling guilty and start moving on with her life. The first step? Sell her husband's car collection. And the second step? Get kinky with a younger man. Well, what are the chances that she'd be able to kill two birds with one stone?!
Neil's a kinky Dom with a love for classic cars. The two meet when Neil stops by to check out Suzanne's Mustang and things heat up pretty quickly between them. Unfortunately there are some baddies out to get ahold of something Suzanne's husband left behind and they're prepared to do that by any means necessary.
Luckily for Suzanne, Neil is a cop and has no problem keeping her safe... Especially if that means they get to spend extra time together. And let me tell you, that extra time is spent very wisely, in my opinion. There's no question that Teresa Noelle Roberts can write smoking hot sex scenes, unfortunately other than the connection in the bedroom (or kitchen) I found their relationship to be pretty blase.
That being said, there was just the right amount of steam and suspense to keep me interested until the end. Were there some things I could have done without... Like Suzanne's constant thoughts of her husband and Neil's woe is me attitude towards the end, for example? Absolutely! But it was still enough to leave me feeling satisfied. Of course an epilogue would have been great! But maybe we'll see them again in future books in this series.

Thought-provoking, moving and bloody heart breaking - Ms. Roberts twists me all up inside again. Drive is the first book in this series. I am very excited because the first in this series captures my attention and keeps me flipping page after page to a stunning conclusion. When I see books with her name on it, I must read the book. The characters, plot and the delicious sex all did it for me. I loved this book.
Suzanne Mayhew is a bitter widow. The last few years of her marriage have been filled with neglect. The man she fell in love with spent less and less time with her. Late nights and secretive behaviour all point to an affair. Disillusioned, Suzanne started filing for a divorce only to have her husband die on her. Yet another way how he shows his inconsideration. Suzanne is also angry because she feels guilty for not feeling sad and that only frustrates her more. One should not speak ill of the dead but why is it that when someone is dead, it is as if all their faults are magically erased? Trying to get back into the swing of things, Suzanne's BFF, Janice, lures her out. Janice's solution is for Suzanne to re-explore her kinky side. Suzanne is tentative about this suggestion. Instead, she thinks getting rid of her late husband's very obvious mistresses is a better idea. She is going to sell his blasted cars he babied and didn't share with her.
The sexy restored mustang is the first on Suzanne's hit list. It captures the attention of Boston PD, Neil Callahan. Ooh boy, cop boy toy who is a dominant. Yum! Neil is younger than Suzanne by fifteen years. He comes across as mature and sexy. The story alternates between the Suzanne and Neil. Both characters are so realistic. I could easily visualize them. They felt real with their feelings and actions. Ms. Roberts excels at creating characters who come alive. Suzanne's conflicted feelings about her late husband as more information is revealed is so well done. It turns a bitter angry woman into a sad and remorseful widow. This is so delicately done that I am left speechless and hurting in sympathy for Suzanne. There is one scene with a note left on a phone for Suzanne which makes me tear up. Whilst this may help Suzanne understand and possibly move on, it does not bode well for Neil. This relationship conflict is complicated.
The suspense part of this book adds an intensity to the book. It keeps the pace moving and exciting. The blending of the suspense, romance and kink is so good. The weaving in and out between the different threads makes a strong story with a beautiful finish at the end. The suspense is detailed just enough to keep mystery/thriller lovers happy and romance lovers from glazing over it. What is impressive is the kinky scenes. These are masterfully done to offset the somber tone. This book isn't focused on the kink. Kink is a natural part to help bring this book to an arousing erotic level. Ms. Roberts is one of the few authors I can easily name as a writer who does not use BDSM as a plot device. Her BDSM is as natural as breathing. This is what I love about her writing. She makes kink come across as just another facet of a character's personality. It is not an add on or something that has to be kept as a dark secret.
Showing Suzanne's sub drop and her sub space is well done. It captures how it can happen in real life. Exposing Neil's anxiety over causing Suzanne harm is a nice touch. Most authors do not show how the dominant feels when a scene ends in a sobbing mess. As Neil states, there are cathartic releasing weeping and then there are heart breaking sobs. When it is the latter, any worthwhile dominant or top is going to be concerned and respond in a similar manner. I like how the BDSM in this story isn't perfect or through a rosy coloured view. This is not to say the BDSM scenes are all ones gone wrong. Some of them are an erotic feast. Ms. Roberts shows the highs and lows which adds another layer of realism to this story.
I loved this book from beginning to end. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I know it will be a treat. Highly recommended to kinky readers who are looking for an intimate maledom erotica without fancy gear or exclusive clubs.
Utterly intriguing book! Ms. Roberts does a fantastic job of telling this story and keeping my attention from page one!
Suzanne Mayhew is resentful lady. The last few years of her marriage were abysmal. Her husband was a sorry, cheating ass. When she starts divorce proceedings, he is killed in a car accident. Problem solved right? Not really. Suzanne feels guilty for being happy that he is gone. You should not talk ill of the dead, but even in death he frustrates her to no end! She decides to sell all of the cars he collected and jump back into the single woman mindset. Her best friend suggests she re-explore her kinky side but Suzanne isn't sure she's up for that.
Neil Callahan, Boston cop, is interested in the mustang Suzanne has for sale. When he meets her he's instantly attracted. He is fifteen years younger than her and a dominate in the BDSM scene. They strike up a friendship that slowly develops into something so much more.
The added mystery within the romance brought another aspect to this erotic story I wasn't expecting, but was pleased it was there. The characters are realistic and believable. The BDSM wasn't over played and added to the budding romance. You could totally see where age could play a huge factor, but the author did a wonderful job of showing how Suzanne dealt with her insecurities and ultimately, grieving for her late husband. I felt sorry for her and everything she went through.
I loved this start to the Cougars, Cars, and Kink series! It was a good mix of suspense and romance with a side of kink that felt right for the characters. I highly recommend Drive and look forward to more books in the series!!

This book was gifted to me by the Jeep Diva in exchange for an honest review. The rating and review are solely my opinion and in no way was I compensated.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is a really good read, with a hot couple, a good plot which has an interesting twist and the perfect outcome. The writing is crisp and told from both viewpoints, which is very handy at times!
To be honest a book which combines a hot cop, a hot widow, hot cars, and hot kink ... should be good, but the ingredients are mixed in just the right proportion. Add in the best friend who slyly set them up, his retired cop Dad who is delighted when he gets to be involved in some dangerous action, and some revelations about her dead husband and this is a sleepless night of reading. So my advice is start reading early!
So I was all ready to start this story but once I got ready it was like my mind was having a hard time wrapping around what's it's about. This mystery love, BDSM story was wow. Had a lot of information going into it. My first time reading anything by this author and I'm truly amazed by it. It had so much of different type of romances you would normally read about. The author had a lot of details in the story enough to blow your mind and make droll appear out of no where. The hottnes factor is super high in this story, I couldn't believe what my eyes were reading at first it's all soft then all at once it really comes out and bites you making you even more hooked then you were before.
Nicely done older woman and younger man. Neither of them overworked the thought of the two of them together. Most of the angst came from her almost-ex dead husband. Great suspense with a little bit of kink (or should I say a little tying up and spanking) thrown in.
Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
I'm not sure how, but this was both kinkier and not as kinky as I expected it to be. I think it started out really hot and then eased off to deal with the suspense side of the story. Suzanne and Neil make sense together. She had always had a submissive side, but that side of her wasn't allowed to come out and play when she was married. Now that her husband has passed, that side of her is looking to play and she responds to the Dom side of Neil.
I liked this book and it seems like it's the start to a good series by Roberts. I was invested in the characters and found myself rooting for them, even if it did border on insta-love (and definitely insta-lust).

Suzanne buried her no good husband eight months ago, and now she is ready to move on with her life. She has a plan; the first is to sell her husband car collection. The second is to explore her kinky side. She had just got into BDSM when she met Frank, but he never took to the lifestyle. So to get things started she starts with his most prized passion, 1966 Mustang. Neil Callahan loves a good fixer upper for his father and him to work on. So when a friend tells him about the Mustang, he can’t help but want to check it out. But the Mustang isn’t the only thing he decides to take a look at. Suzanne is fifteen years older, but that doesn’t mean Neil minds. He decided to likes what he sees, but need to take a test drive to make sure he is really interested. Neil invites Suzanne on a weekend ride, and he wants to get to know her a little better. Little did each of them know Frank’s past will catch-up with them on the trip. Suzanne never really cared what Frank was doing, but now she is wishing she had paid a little more attention. Neil gives Suzanne everything she needs: protection for the scum and all the kink she can handle. I loved reading this book. It has a wonderful plot, and man does it make you hot. You will never think of kitchen utensils the same again.

This is the first time experiencing this author's writing. The cover alone should be a forewarning that caution while handling is needed. You are properly introduced to Suzanne and what is on her agenda. When selling her late husband's prize possession enables her to meet Neil that her friend sends over unknown to either of them. Then once he rides up on his bike he is liking what he sees and not just the car. This author does give us older women a thrill because it lets us know that we can still be attractive to younger. Anyways this is the opener for the fun to begin starting with a ride on how it handles. It will not be just that they see about test driving. He is not the only one interested though in this car and realizes they are followed. So between the driving of many kinds and the dodging of the tail the dig into what might really being going on that involves her late husband. Now since the intrigue part is what got me to take a second look at this one, she soon realizes he was not doing what she thought but something different all together. That will be what brings the danger to her doorstep. good thing though she has Neil by her side because he is a cop, and a take charge kind of guy in many areas. Some can even leave lovely red spots also. As they try and solve this you will be given or should say treated to some of the most descriptive ways in which they spend some of their time also especially when they find out they both like the same flavors. They also like the same toys, with boys that like to play with their toys he does share well with this girl. When you are given the answers to the puzzles presented you are also given a delightful ending to what started out as just a trial run could come with a lifetime of fun sealed with lovin.
Neil Callahan is thiry and a cop and at night a Dom. Suzanne Mayhew is a widow of eight months. Her husband Frank, died in an auto crash. She wants to move her life forward. She was divorcing her husband for cheating when he died, so they had lost their love a long time before. She decides to start selling her husbands antique cars. Up first is a 65 Red Mustang convertible. She is in her driveway cleaning the car when someone on a motorcycle goes past turns around and comes back. He wants to see the car but also he was eyeing the beautiful long legged redhead cleaning it. Suzanne is fifteen years older than Neil but she is looking for some excitement. He wants to take the car for a test drive and she is going with him. He tells her his name and that he is a policeman and has her call her friend to let her know. Before they leave some creepy looking men in suits want to look at the car and he tells them to comeback. They give him a hard time until he tells them he is an off duty cop. They leave but follow them later that day. This story is good but it is some profanity and sex involving BDSM. If you don't like punishing sex this book isn't for you. There is a lot of action in this one and not just the sex.
Hot, passionate, heart pounding, kinky this is definitely something I enjoy in a book and Ms. Roberts provides all of that. Recently widowed Suzanne is not in mourning but with hot young cop Neil comes alone he is definitely a great distraction after the past few months. Along with Neil comes trouble from her now dead ex when she didn’t think it could get worse it does. This book kept me engaged from beginning till the end if you don’t like cougars with hot young alpha males and kinky insta c then this is not the book for you. Ms. Roberts give you a steamy novella that will leave you wishing for more. I thought Suzanne was a great main character who even after everything she went though she somehow made it on top. This story takes them on a weekend adventure that somehow turns into more when they had to lean on each other. Roberts story with leave you melting so don’t read in public because it will definitely make you wish your partner was around. I can’t wait for book two and if it's anything like book one then I will not be reading in public.
I was given this book in exchange for my honest opinion and a review.
What a fab read I was utterly delighted with it, The Author has done a brilliant job of bringing this story to life its based on an older woman and a younger man discovering themselves with each other.
I love how neither of them were super serious so quickly it was a slow but steady beautiful build up too love.
There was also a thrill element her dead almost ex husband and the secrets he kept which ultimately could have been avoided if he would have been open and honest. but in another way I understood why he didn't.
This book also has another brilliant edge well kink to it BDSM I love how its subtle and not too hard core but just enough for newbies to get in too it.
DNF at 7% when menacing guys showed up and we know that are "bad" because they speak with foreign accents that sound like "Arabic or Turkish". Oh Hell No.
Immigrant shaming is NOT OK. And the last thing we need is yet more media that automatically makes a Turk or Arab a bad guy. This was published very recently, so I presume it may have been written while hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, desperately seeking safe shelter, were turned away at many national borders in large part due to thus sort of fear mongering.
Whoa, hold on because this is one wild ride. Fast cars, a hot policeman, and a widow who is trapped in an dangerous situation, with a hot as hell romance. Definitely not for a tame reader.
