Jon Bartlett’s path is clear before him. Finish his last year of schooling, then off on the family’s ships to learn the intricacies of interstellar trade. Then a message of tragedy at home comes for him and his expected life is flung far out of reach.
Wronged is a short story set in the Alexis Carew universe. It takes place some thirty years before the start of Into the Dark (Alexis Carew #1). It is best read after The Little Ships (Alexis Carew #3). Wronged is also offered free of charge when you join the author’s mailing list at www.alexiscarew.com, so there’s that.
A nice little back story for one of the characters from the main series. Nothing more nothing less. Simply to short in my opinion. If you're a fan of the series recommended.
The author correctly warns readers that this short story in the Carew universe, although a prequel in time, should be read after book 3 in the series in order to appreciate the characters' futures. It is part of what is developing into a nice space opera series, the main core of which features an action heroine.
I read this out of storyline order mainly because I needed a short read and it was already downloaded. I was able to follow the plot even though is is about a character that is not in book one and I loved it. The protagonist is young and prone to mischievous conduct. Nonetheless, he captured my heart and he definitely has been Wronged. I highly recommend this series and will begin book 2 soon. It is actually meant to be read with book 3 and you may enjoy it more if you wait to read it. No matter what the order, I hope you enjoy the series as much as I have thus far.
Disclaimer: I received this short story as a gift from the author and as always, this is my honest review.
Giving us more background into another character in the Alexis Carew Series, this story tells us how an honest young man begins his path down the road to becoming a pirate! The only negative I can find with the books in this series is that they each have a last page. And then my misery begins. I seriously love these characters and miss them when the books end! Thankfully, I can return to them. The audio versions are brilliantly narrated by Elizabeth Klett, who truly brings these story to life. I'd give the entire series 10 stars, if I could!
This story provides the background for one of the characters in the author’s popular Alexis Carew military space opera universe. Jon Bartlett is a student at a merchant spacer school when he hears bad news from home. His reaction and the advice he receives will determine the course of his life. The final surprise reveal is meaningful only after you’ve read the first few books in this exciting series.
There’s nothing worth reading in this one. It’s just a very negative short story that has no positive end or any useful end at all really, and it is damn unpleasant. So much so that even speed reading it I regret reading it at all.
This was very disappointing. It started out as a good book but stopped when he finally joined the fleet that had killed his father and sold his mother into indenture colonization. Where is the remainder of the story?
Very short story but still good background information; hope he builds on this tangent. Sign up for his mailing list at alexiscarew.com and get this story for free.
Get all his Alexis Carew books for a pittance compared to list price at mainstream booksellers and enjoy his immersive universe.
Best if you read this after Book 3 "The Little Ships"
This short gives the background of a certain young snake introduced in the third novel of the story. Leads me to believe that the snake and mongoose will be up for interesting adventures in the next novel. Think I'll pop off and start that now. Definitely worth reading, but hold off until you've read Little Ships.
Loved it. Best read after Alexis Carew book 3! It will make sense then. I love the whole series, They are enjoyable easy reads. I am impatiently writing for the next.
I fell immediately into this story and bit into it. It was very compelling right from the start. Great character study out of the culturally enjoyed it.I.
