The seventh book of the series takes place in Atlanta and concentrates more on the wider story and less on the romance between Donna,Victor and Uni. The sexual scenes do not overpower the action. The book is longer in comparison to the previous books.
The president finally decides to share the truth with the US citizens and gives a speech on TV: “My fellow Americans, we need you, all of you, if our country is to be rebuilt.”
Two more scientists are added in the scientific team that is looking for the vaccine against kite.
Reverent Silo is still trying to find his wife, while she is still hiding from him and still trying to expose him. Moreover, Reverent Silo’s assistant becomes a new major player in the series.
Atlanta is under a winter storm. The weather deteriorates, going straight past from snow to ice. This will slow down the events and the expansion of Kite epidemic. Apparently the virus does not like cold.
The action is gradually moving to Houston and the crazy Monkeys will have there their next adventure.
ICE MONKEYS punches with chilling accuracy as this latest in the series puts so many wheels into motion. This story is an adrenaline rush with fast paced action. The General is touring the facilities, kicking ass and taking names. Whilst the focus may be on the sexy duo Victor and Uni, my panties are wet by General Arliss's plans and execution. This is a man not to be messed with. His ability to be several steps ahead of his opponents is incredibly sexy. A man with a plan who knows how to follow it and ruthlessly take out his enemy is definitely an erotic on button for me. I digress.
Victor and Uni nearly caught their own little sexy meat for their sandwich. Unfortunately for them, she wanted another pair. Now, they have their chance with Donna. Donna is a person who represents the quintessential book smarts with little street smarts. Her pattern recognition is off the charts as well her as her knowledge about the banking industry. Figuring out how to protect her computer from rogue hackers is another story--definitely not in her skill set. When she comes into Victor and Uni's sights as a person of interest, she finds herself outside of her depth.
When Victor and Uni apprehend and interrogate seemingly ditzy Donna, they realize they have made a grave mistake. Fortunately, it is a mistake which the two can turn into their advantage. The duo drag Donna into a possible dangerous undercover job. Whilst thrilling and fun for Donna, there is a down side. There will always be the potential for unintentional collateral damage. I like when Ms. Dalton incorporates bad things happening to her good guys. This gives the story different depths of highs and lows. The story isn't filled with perfect events with rainbows and star dust bursting everywhere. Instead, the dark and light are well balanced to give a feeling of impending doom with a glimmer of hope.
I must confess, I do not read this series for the sex part. I do tend to skim over all the sex scenes in this series. They do not appeal to me. The threesome sex is fine. Ms. Daltons writes good erotica, even when it is isn't kinky. I just prefer her kinky ones. The sexual content in this book is a mild spark for me. What keeps me addicted to this story is the plot. This plot driven tale keeps me on the edge of my seat and craving the next reveal. I have my guess as to how this will all end. What keeps me enthralled is how we get there. I am enjoying this journey and I savor every new reveal. Recommended for ménage readers who enjoy a dystopian world.
It seems like the larger story arc is starting to take over, as there wasn't a lot of time with the triad. I found that ok because really there is only so much hot sex a person can take before getting bored. :)
I really like how things are heating up for Reverend Silo, he so deserves what is coming his way. I hope that his #2 has the same fate for him, but worry that he will slip away. I love how the President was able to cut Silo off at his knees with her actions. More and more I'm finding I really like Mary. She has managed to live through so much, been beaten so down that I love that she is starting to get her revenge. I really want her to hook-up with the Drunk Monkeys, ohhhh, the chaos they could bring!
I didn't really like the instant love connection between Uni, Victor and Donna. It seems more that she was available than anything else. But with that said, I did like how the 3 of them were together, how they stuck together when Victor ran into trouble. The only thing that came out of the trouble was he got to see his brother. Overall I thought Donna did a great job acclimating to the reality of her new world and did what she could to be a productive team member.
The drama and intensity is ramping up. The bad guys are escalating and the Drunk Monkey's have to kick it in high gear to save the world. Uni & Victor find and claim their package with Donna. They have to keep her safe and find a way to keep her forever. The heat is HOT and the plot is really thickening. It keeps you on edge and anxiously wanting more.
