Scott Davis lost his battle with brain cancer on February 10, 2024, in Hillsboro, Oregon, at the age of 59. He is survived by his wife, Martha, his two children, Emma and Brett, his father Sheldon, and his brother Darren.
Born in East Meadow, New York, on June 30, 1964, he moved to California as a teenager, where he met his lifelong friend, Steve Green, and bonded over their shared love of music. He attended California State University, Northridge, where he nourished a love for writing that would continue throughout his life. After college, he met his wife at a bus stop in the pouring rain, when Martha offered to share her umbrella with him and wrote her number in his copy of a Stephen King novel. Martha and Scott spent over 20 years in the town of Poway, California, where Scott worked in the marketing field in companies throughout San Diego County. Scott wrote several successful comic books, usually building on his interest in mythology and science fiction, they moved to Hillsboro, Oregon to live closer to Scott’s family, and Scott actively participated in softball until his illness.
I give the two stars based solely on the fact that I like the story individual that isDorian Gray and the illustrations are good. However, 21 pages are only 9 with the rest being etchings and the story that his family is cursed is a bit fetched to me.
I borrowed the ebook version of Dorian Gray #0 from the library and found that it was composed of lovely panels showing glimpses into the story but without any actual story in it. What I've seen so far certainly has piqued my interest but unfortunately, my library doesn't carry the rest of the series. The rating given above means I like this prequel based solely on the illustrations given within.
