The ninth season was SO much better than the previous one. More down-to-Earth, more character-based, more intimate, more Spike 😅 Loved most everything about it. Looking forward to reading Season 10 ❤️🔥
I didn’t really like the beginning of season 9, but the ending made me feel attached to the series again. It was awesome how they incorporated Illyria into the story. She seemed a lot more humanized than she was on Angel.
I really missed Spike as he was only a minor player in Buffy season 9. Let's face it, he is amazing. I did, however, like to interaction between Buffy and Illyria. I like when Angel characters interact with Buffy characters. I do wish that Illyria and Spike had have interacted. I loved their relationship. Plus imagince how entertaining it would have been it Buffy had seen how great they were together (as friends and fighters) and got jealous. That's just me daydreaming though. I have a feeling season 10 will be much better. It's back to the scoobies and Spike is a regular.
Season 9 finally redeems itself with an epic showdown at "The Deeper Well." There are lots of references to previous continuity, from both BUFFY and ANGEL, and it's nice to see some old faces from the past return. Of course, what with this being BUFFY and all, there are some epic changes, double-crosses, and pop culture jokes.
While it's probably pretty much incomprehensible to a new reader, I found this volume a fun read, with a lot to recommend it.
The inclusion of Illyria was fantastic. There were some brilliant moments.
My one gripe is that, if they're going to continue breaking things up into seasons, give us a season end episode. Don't just artificially divide an ongoing series into seasons. That's just lazy and confusing to the readers.

A solid addition to the series. I'm pleased with the way they wrapped up storylines that have been dangling, and I'm excited to see where they take the new magic plot line. New complexity to old characters and some really touching moments.
