Things have changed.

Only a few weeks have passed since Britt’s facade as King Arthur was revealed, outing her as a woman. Though her relationship with her knights is strained and precarious, it’s starting to regrow.

But the peace of Camelot is now threatened from both the outside and in.

When the first tournament of Britt’s reign is announced, Lancelot makes his move. No longer will he allow Britt to withhold the respect and honor he feels he deserves.

And then Merlin starts to act strangely when a beautiful but evil magic user named Lady Vivien comes to town. Vivien might be the most obvious spy ever, but the threat she represents is real. If Merlin doesn’t stand in her way Britt’s life may very well be in danger.

Can the kingdom that Britt and Merlin have built together survive this new attack? Or will all fall before Merlin confesses just how much Britt means to him?

The finished King Arthurs and Her Knights series is based on Arthurian legends and lore. It is sprinkled with humor, love, and more than a dash of magic. If you enjoy strong characters and tales about the Knights of the Round Table, check out the King Arthurs series today!

*cracks knuckles loudly*

I'm going to be a little tougher with this one, I've decided. Usually, I just adore all books written by K. M. Shea and let it be, because when you're constantly swimming through a sea of mostly irritating books, you don't question a nice cozy familiar island too much. However, this time I'm going to critique away.

Alrighty, let's get down to business here.

I never give summaries of books in my reviews, because there is literally a summary on Goodreads like right there, so I'm just gonna get right to it.

Britt's character development is coming along nicely. She's such a great heroine in that she's kind and brave but flawed, which is really important in characters, because without our flaws, what are we? No one likes a Mary Sue.

I liked the obvious change that was happening in this one. Knights are growing up, enemies are looming on the horizon, and a new villain is wreaking a decent amount of havoc. The hens are being stirred up. I like it.

Gwenivere's character was expanded a little, and that was nice to watch. I've hated the character for a long time, especially after watching Vanessa Redgrave's portrayal of her in Camelot the musical. I like that these books are challenging me to see things from different perspectives.

Okay, here comes the critiquing part.

Firstly, the mixed POV. It gets under my skin at times, because who on earth is actually telling this story? At first it seems like Britt, but she's referred to in third person, and indeed, all characters are referred to this way, even when their innermost thoughts are being narrated. Is it a narrator then? That would be okay, if the focus stayed on one individual, but often in the middle of the chapter, the focus will abruptly shift, so we can hear another person's thoughts. It makes for unsteady reading.

Next, the constant implicit meanings. Friends, I can read between lines, I can. It's not that I don't understand, it's that I always understand. So it stands to reason that it doesn't need to be implied does it? It's not an insult to the reader to just state something clearly and without mystery or pretense. If anything, it is a courtesy to the reader, as I for one would rather not keep track of everything that's being implied and instead simply focus on the story being told.
This is why I began to ship Bay (Britt/Kay), because I felt like it was being IMPLIED very very often that there was more motive than just brotherly concern behind his overprotection of Britt, and also why the Morgon/Kay whatever-this-is felt like it came out of absolutely nowhere. It's like being in gym class, just chilling, away from the game, and SUDDENLY OUT OF NOWHERE BLAM A BALL IN YOUR FACE AND YOURE JUST LIKE WHERE THE HECK DID THAT COME FROM.

The parenthesis usage was a bit high in this one, and kind of unneeded. I felt like commas could have been used or the info in parenthesis cut out entirely to give the reading a less juvenile feel.

I'm still not quite clear on why we don't know more about Britt's family. I kept waiting for more info to be given so I could better connect with Britt and sympathize with her situation. Instead it feels like there was no great loss, even though the book keeps telling me it is. Give me evidence of that.

All that being said, I thought it was good. There were only a couple editing mistakes. I enjoyed it, although, honestly, I always do.

It is now out to her knights. She is a woman. Britt is trying to get her knights to be normal around her again. Some are still hurt by the deception but she is trying her best to show them that she is still the same king.

Since I don’t know the real story of King Arthur it is hard for me to follow when names from the tale are revealed. But I do want to know what is going on and if Britt will ever have a friendship with Lancelot or Mordred.

I loved this continuation! Much banter, knightly charm, utter chaos, and threats continue and I am here for it!

I LOVE Mordred and I super hope he doesn’t follow the legends and become a threat in the end because I will be so sad if that’s the case. 😭 And I actually really like Guinevere now? I found her REALLY annoying when she was first introduced, but now she’s growing on me just like she’s growing on Britt. And I’m still not fully sure what Lancelot formed with the other knights, but I do know he’s NOT growing in my favor but less and less every time I see him, sheesh he is ANNOYING!

And that ending…!!!! Ahhhhhh, nooo let my ship be happy together!!!!! *clears throat* It’s fine, everything’s fine, it’s all fine and rainbows.Though this better be fixed in the last book or else! 🗡

Content: violence and fighting (not detailed); magic (good and evil); Merlin is a wizard and other characters are sorceresses; a kiss (not detailed); characters drink and get drunk

I'd decided I wasn't going to give this book 5 stars because it felt like half a story but sod it.

I abandoned the book I was a few pages into to pick up this one and read it in a couple of hours. I had a smile on my face the whole time. The story continues where it left off in the previous one in the series and introduces a couple of new characters. There are more quests, a competition, some sword fights and a bit of romance. Britt's relationship with Merlin continues to make me laugh and I love how she interacts with Lancelot.

My main frustration is that it cut off mid story. While it was the same length as previous books they all more or less resolved the storyline. This time we're left hanging. Can't wait for the next one.

I'm quite curious about Mordred, after all, I now the legend a bit better than Britt does.
Heh, If she knew....

EDIT - So I re-read this again in preparation, and I completely forgot the cliffhanger ending.
But it was still good

surprise surprise, this book was as bad as the previous books. as quoted from the book, this series is an artless piece of garbage (slightly modified). but i read this book in a emotionless state, so the boredom of this book overwhelmed the stupidity. trust me, it was still incredibly stupid, just very, very very boring. one might ask, 'why do i insist on such a horrible book if i don't enjoy it then?' well, my peers (myself), it is because i'm on an exam week and i read this for my own good. i still want to read something on exam week but i don't want anything good so i won't be tempted to read, instead of studying. anyway, quick recap:

they found a magic mountain, sir ywain ran away with glory and stupidity in his head, lancelot the asshole won the tournament, asked to be the queen's champion and insisted on making the queen's guard or sth, britt's stupidity prevented her from sending him to la guillotine, i don't even remember what i read at this point, everything was blurry and boring, some stupid mission of holy shield that didn't make any sense or any relation to the story, and then suddenly they went out questing to save the idiot sir ywain, turned out he was already married, his wife is a jealous and protective sort, and then i don't even remember the ending. something about merlin preached britt not to be a jealous and greedy bitch, and then came lady Viviene (the other one, apparently), well, i didn't remember when she came but she was a class A bitch and dark magic user, so merlin, the other idiot, decided not to let britt helped her and sacrificed himself by 'acting' as this girl's lover so she didn't target Britt. why did they were all not dead already? ugh

no more comment about this book, it was clearly stupid enough and my head hurts just by trying to recap what happened.

**Review of the series as a whole rather than the individual books.**

KM Shea lets you know right up front what her stories will be. They will be some type of fantasy (usually), end happily and neatly tied up and are meant as a break from life rather than to be deep thinking. This series delivered exactly what was promised.

This is more of a series of novellas except for the last book that is full length. It's a fun story reimagining the King Arthur Legend. In it, a young woman named Britt is brought from modern day back in time after she touches the legendary sword. It seems the actual King Arthur has run away and Merlin places a spell on the sword to bring someone back that has all the needed attributes to fill the role. What he doesn't even consider is to specify the gender in his spell.

The 7 book series details adventures as Britt poses as King Arthur. She goes about finding her round table and the knights that will belong. KM Shea plays with the mythology and has a bit of fun with it. I enjoyed the stories and Britt as well as other characters' evolutions. Sure it could be far fetched at times but I always give fantasy book a lot of leeway. If you need tight plotting and things to make perfect sense then maybe look elsewhere. This series is not meant to stand up to that kind of seriousness. It's simply escapist, fun reading with a story around a strong female character. There is the faintest whiff of romance that doesn't really even manifest until the end and then only trace amounts.

As much as I have loved this series, I'd say this book was the letdown of the bunch. Although still very good and needed for the overall plot, Endeavor has unexpected changes that made both Britt and myself sad.

Most disliked character ever, easily, is Vivienne who is now living at Camelot. Hard to believe she is even worse than Lancelot, but she wins it here! She appears to be just a bully at first but then it becomes apparent that she is quite evil and worse, Merlin and the knights CANNOT come up with a satisfactory plan to get rid of her. Merlin is truly disappointing here while I completely agreed with Kay.

Also there appears to be no justice to be had over Lancelot. He has apologized a hundred times and despite NOT being trustworthy and still up to no good, he remains at Camelot and still an active knight.

Britt earns a shield she doesn't want, that whole scene was delightful because we get to see Blaise again! Merlin confirms that time travel has age consequences for Britt that are unfair and unavoidable as one of her knights leaves Camelot.

Merlin reveals a plan to Britt at the end that really bothered me and made me nervous. One more book to go and not sure how it will conclude. Highly recommend this series, such fun and so many good twists to the story of King Arthur!

Another lovely quick read

Mordred & Lady Vivian make for interesting & curious new characters. Mordred & Lancelot are so different from what the old tales have them be, but using their names creates great suspense as something must happen with them!

In this installment there is a bit of a tease with magical repercussions for the magic that brought Britt back in time.

I really love these characters for their earnestness & how they do seem to have a medieval sensibility in a lot of ways. Even though these stories are short-- they pack a punch with the attention to historical detail, elements of the original legend, adventure, and commitment to all the characters.

In this new chapter of Britt Arthurs' life, we get to see her struggle once more with her secrets and the legend of Arthur.

Everytime I start a book of Arthur and Her Knigths, I get swept off my feet when I see how strong and resilient she is. It make the stories more realistic (in a Arthurien way), so we don't lose on the epicness of those stories.

Now I think we should see some improvement between Britt and Lancelot, I would like to see Lancelot turn for the better, because he is a strong character and he would be a nice addition to the inner circle. Also, Guinevere started to grow on me (I feel like I play in K.M. Shea hands lol, she is really good to make me feel what she want to transmit through her stories). This is why I will make a point to read all of her books!

To be honest, I'm kinda starting to feel sorry for Lancelot... Britt judges him based on things he hasn't even done (and never ends up doing). Yeah, sure, he stabbed her in the previous book, and that was a pretty low move, but aside from being a bit of a selfish womaniser, he has the chops to back up his claims. It would have been nice if Britt could have the same high expectations of him that she has for everyone else. Instead, he seems to live down to her opinion of him.

That being said, I did appreciate getting a little bit more of the romance from Britt and Merlin in this one, so that was a nice addition to the story.

I loved this whole series! I got the first book free somehow, and was totally hooked. To be clear, when I saw the title and heard the synopsis I totally eye rolled. Really -King Arthur is a girl and time transported?!! But then I read it and I LOVE the series. The twists from the original story were great- a sexy Merlin? It took some getting used to, but now #yesplease. And sometimes when life is hard or I’m dealing with conflict, I think “what would Brit Arthurs do?” I highly recommend the whole series.

What is up with this generation of Arthurian writers and making Mordred so likeable. I was really nervous when I say him being introduced. This is ruining my reputation.

Lancelot still acts as if he did nothing wrong. I still do not understand why they won't exile him, especially with his audacity to be called the Queen's champion (as he now knows she's a woman but not everyone else knows). You'd think Merlin would know a spell or two to cause a tragic accident. Maybe not Merlin but Morgause or Morgana. Oh well.

The ending alone warrant 5 starts. But the rest of this installment are pretty good too.

We are Britt grow as her kingdom grow and watching the changes she is not prepared for. This King Arthur aud is her sole life now and I don't think she has a plan B. She is out of her time and what other options does she have?

The Lancelot pays are interesting. And Moldred is an interesting puzzle.

This book was amazing! The knights around her start to grow up and Britt has to come to terms that some will be leaving her. Another woman comes to try to kill Britt with black magic, and we really see Merlin's devotion to Britt as he tries to combat her. Also

Awesome series

Loving this series. Finally getting some more romance and seeing the characters grow up. Hate what Merlin has to do, if he’d share more with Arthur I’m sure they could find another solution. Don’t want to see him with Vivienne but can’t wait to see what happens after .

“And you have to know their loyalties will always lie with you. Just as a portion of your heart belongs to them, so will a part of their soul belong to you. Isn’t that what friendship is?”

Again, brilliant. Shea handles the difficult situations masterfully. I cannot wait to continue the journey with my favorite characters.

Better and better and FINALLY a kiss! Poor Britt is now wondering what just happened and Merlin is going on his own mission, most likely to both his and Britt’s heartbreak, but it is all to keep Britt safe, so naturally he is going to do it no matter the consequence.

That moment, however, was totally worth the wait.

NEXT BOOK!

Entire series review:
At first it was slow, but then I couldn’t put it down. It definitely had ups and downs, but it was a fun and clean read. Had a few slow moments where I thought I would quit mostly because I wanted to know if the love interests ended up together. The end was a very interesting twist.

Britt is back again, but dealing with Lancelot, her other knights and a strange acting Merlin together with Lady Vivianne and her own feelings... There is drama. Lots of it.
