I read this as part of a training session on working with children who have been affected by family violence. A cheap-looking book which can be used as a teaching tool for children with low self-esteem who have internalised negative messages about themselves. In this case, Ruby benefits from the friendship and support of a kindly lunchlady who helps her assert herself against those who have victimised her.
