Eeeeeek! I was very excited about 'I'm Not in Love'!!! After having read 'The Accidental Guest' I couldn't wait to see more of Hannah and her mysterious love interest! I ship them both SO hard that having the chance to review this novel was SO exciting. I couldn't wait to delve deeper in Hannah small little world and see what becomes of attraction to the “mysterious stranger”.
There was a lovely writing style coming on the behalf of the author and I greatly enjoyed the simple yet beautiful prose. I liked how the author was able to convey such a great story in such a small amount of pages. Not to mention the thoughts and feelings of her characters, too! I really admired how I was able to connect with Hannah straight away, once again, despite the fact that the previous novella, 'The Accidental Guest', was quite short, too, and didn't give us a lot of time to get to know her really deeply, even though I understood who she was as a person quite quickly.
In this novella, Hannah is trying to forget about Tom – aka the mysterious stranger/accidental guest. Ever since her discovery that Tom has a woman in his life who may just be his wife, Hannah has been trying to avoid her memories of the sparks that flew between them. But fate keeps throwing Tom – his real name still unknown – in her way. Both are struggling to keep their attraction at bay and it doesn't help that Tom’s wife Martine seems to be an ice queen who Tom doesn't want to be with but does not mention leaving.
I spotted no spelling or typing mistakes in this little advanced reading copy and so greatly enjoyed that. Grammar was superb as always! It's written in third person past tense so the novella had lots of room for the opinions of different characters and allowed for a romantic sub-plot featuring Ross, a young neighbour, and Gina, Hannah's older sister.
It was a great story to read. Full of drama and conflict; mistakes and mishaps; laughter and humour. Really on giant ball of lovely goodness. A great story to read after Christmas and New Years as it really brought out the humour of hangovers and over-eating.
There was the BIGGEST CLIFFHANGER IN THE BOOK WORLD AS WE KNOW IT! Whyyyyyyyy???!!!! Tilly Tennant always seems to do this to me/her readers! It was such a great story and then as soon as things finally start to become exciting for our couple the author cuts it off in one sentence! Argh! I have to commend the author on her talent though. If there is anybody better at cliffhangers, then it's her.
Congratulations to Tilly Tennant on yet another lovely novella published! Can't wait to read the next one!
