Kelli Ireland spent a decade as a name on a door in corporate America. Unexpectedly liberated by Fate's sense of humor, she chose to carpe the diem and pursue her passion for writing. A fan of happily-ever-afters, she found she loved being the Puppet Master for the most unlikely couples. Seeing them through the best and worst of each other while helping them survive the joys and disasters of falling in love? Best. Thing. Ever.
Loved it. When I started reading this I wasn't sure I was going to like it. But it got better and definitely had me on edge wanting to read the next chapter and the next and the next. Storyline and writing was great. Would love to read more by this author.
While there was some witty dialogue and it had the potential to be interesting, I am 25% through the book and am seriously considering abandonning.
By the time I got to the end of Chapter Three I had already made 3 notes in the margin remarking "I am really not liking her..."
He started out OK, but the scene where he brings her up on stage while he is stripping crosses too many boundaries for me. At this point there is some inappropriate touching instigated by both him and her in front of an audience and it is clear if this actually happened she would ethically have to recuse herself from the case she is investigating. I am not prudish and I love the Blaze line of stories, but was struck by how icky this scene felt.
So by page 40 I am already biased against both main characters and strongly unimpressed by the basic modus operandi of either character in the plotting of sexual power games.
Seriously considering skimming for basic plot highlights and then toasting it from my e-library.
OK later that day, I went back and tried reading further. More red flags at end of strip club stage scene when she asks him to put her down and he continues dry humping her and she asks again to be let off the stage but the act continues until she finally walks away. Left really bad taste in my mouth - sorry but is this not the current social issue currently being debated about consent?
I did finish the book and there were some well written parts where I came to like the characters more. Loved that she was the motorcycle maven and she has major tats that she had to hide under her IRS conservative suit - great spin for a heroine. There were also some very funny, witty lines including a keeper where she throws in a YODAism. Very funny.
But overall I just can't see myself re-reading the book. I feel it would have been much stronger without the scene with her on stage and I would actually have cared what happened to these people. Final rating: 1.5 Stars

Levi is a wiz at everything he takes on. He's determined to see his friends and parents financially secured. To do this, Levi strips by night and parts owns the club by day. Unfortunately, the IRS comes knocking on his door and Harper plans to take him down. Will Levi and Harper be able to work together to solve the puzzle? The chemistry is off the charts. The need and desire to be together seems to trump the investigation while lies and deception come to surface. A must read.
This was a very odd story for me. Sure it was "hot" at times, but the progression of the relationship felt all kinds of forced or wrong. Still yet, I wanted to finish it because I'd mostly enjoyed the previous in this series.
