BURNING OUT OF CONTROL...

When a deadly apartment blaze sparked memories of the prom-night accident that took her fiance and unborn baby, firefighter Erin DeLuca ran...and lost herself for just one night. Erin was left pregnant, and the stranger who'd offered solace was nowhere to be found.

Until he showed up in Troublesome Gulch. And irony of ironies, Nate Walker was a pyrotechnics engineer--and when he saw the mystery woman who got away, now very pregnant, his entire being lit up. For Erin, it was a deja vu moment brighter than any fireworks display--not about reliving pain, but about the joy of being in the arms of a loving man....

**Since I'm intimately familiar with the blood, sweat, and tears that go into producing a book, I will only be listing my 4-and 5-star reads. We don't all like the same fare (as is evidenced by some of the Goodreads ratings on my own work!), so if I don't love a book, you won't see it on my page. I'm not interested in bashing anyone else's creative efforts or negatively influencing anyone's reading choices. This is PURELY my choice, and how you review is up to you. On with the bio.**

Erin wasn't looking for love when she met Nate, all she wanted was to forget - just for a moment - the tragic event that shaped her life. Twelve years ago her soul mate Kevin died in a car accident and she lost their unborn child. She spent the last decade alone, not willing to risk her heart again. And then she met Nate. He was different, there was a connection between them from the start. She might have just let him go, if there wasn't a baby they created together.

The last thing Nate expected when he walked into a meeting in a small town, Colorado, is to see a woman that's been haunting him for months. And she's pregnant!

Even though this looks like a secret baby plot, I loved the book. For starters Erin did try to find him and let him know, but it was hard to do because she didn't even know his last name. And Nate did understand that and wasn't bitter or hurtful (after the shock wore of).

Nate is a good hero, loving, patient, understanding. Erin had some problems, mainly because she felt she was betraying Kevin by falling for Nate and having his baby. I like the fact she went and talked to Kevin's parents, it shows that she really accepted that Kevin's gone.

And that's when we come to my main problem. I would've liked to see Erin come to that conclusion more naturally , but other than that it's a great feel good read, even with the couple of moments that teared me up.

Erin was another survivor of the prom night fire in Troublesome Gulch. She lost the love of her life, her fiancee Kevin and her unborn baby and suffered extensive burns. She is now an engineer and works as a fire-man and has become an expert in pretending that she is fine, but she's actually a mess inside, she has never dealt with what happened and has never dated much less kissed anyone since Kevin. A fire-call makes her recall it all and she goes running to a bar in Denver, where she starts dancing without any thought.

Nate is pyrotechnic engineer and he's just looking for peace when he sees Erin. He kind of rescues her and then she ends up crying. He takes her for rest to his hotel-room. Nate is a good guy, decent, loving, with three sisters and a mother and a appreciation of watching girl movies. When Erin wakes up screaming and asks just to lie next to him he agrees reluctantly and then she starts touching him. He says no, he is not the one-night stand sort but Erin tells him that she needs him, so he's a good guy. The next day she disappears.

Two months later Erin finds out she's pregnant. She feels guilty for sneaking out on Nate and tries to find him but can't. Five months later Nate shows up in town for the 4th of July fire-work arrangement.

They talk and Nate says he will move to town. Erin was a bit irrational at times and for a long while she stuck to Kevin despite her growing feelings for Nate.
The best part about the book was Nate.

I loved it! For the first time since I started reading these types of books, I found a couple who were not trying to get back at each other over being kept in the dark.

When firefighter Erin Deluca sees a young pregnant woman mourning her husband who was killed in the fire she was responding too, the memories of her prom night over 10 years ago came crashing over her.

The memory of the car crash that took the life of her boyfriend Kevin and their unborn child along with a few of her friends won't leave her. Now her and the surviving friends are as close as ever. But Erin didn't escape with just mental scars. Her torso is covered in scars that surgeries can no longer fix.

Trying to escape the memories she drives a few towns over to a bar and after dancing with many unnameable men, is finally taken to a hotel by Nate Walker.

Always accused of being too much of a good guy, Nate just couldn't help feeling like he had to help Erin. Nor could he help but feel a spark between them as he tried to get her to relax.

When she is woken from one of her many nightmares, she asks Nate to hold her. With Kevin's memory heavy on her heart, she decides the first step to help her recover would be to sleep with him. For he's the first man she's been attracted to since Kevin.

At first refusing her offer for a one-night with no strings attached, he doesn't hold out to long. When he wakes up a note is the only thing left of her.

Now she's seven months pregnant and after extensive searching, Erin has all but given up on ever finding the man who helped create her miracle child. Luckily fate isn't done with these two, for Nate's job brings him right to Erin.

What stands this book apart is, although Nate is upset that she didn't tell him about the baby, he doesn't try to seek revenge or threaten to take the baby away from her. He actually listens and believes her when she explains why she didn't tell him.

From there Nate tries to get Erin to open up to him in more ways then just concerning their baby. With help from Erin's friends who quickly become his friends too, he learns to just wait.

Erin learns to savor her love for Kevin and make room for Nate. It's such a beautiful story of moving on and getting stronger.

Erin was one of the survivors from the prom night crash, she had lost her fiance Kevin and her unborn baby in the crash. She was beaten, bruised and part of her heart and soul had been missing since that day. She became a firefighter to stop fires and help out people. One night, a very pregnant woman lost her husband in a fire and it brought everything back up for Erin. So she went to a bar to go dancing and feel nothing, only to be rescued by Nate. Nate took her back to his hotel and they made love. When Erin was told she was pregnant, she was in shock. Due to bad burns on her stomach from the prom night fire, she never thought that she'd have a baby growing inside her again. Now can Erin finally let her demons rest and be truly with Nate?

I thought out of the two book I've read so far, this one was the most emotional for me. I lost my best friend in a car crash and Drew was pretty damn awesome, so I relate to it totally. I think it was beautifully fluent and shared things with us that are usually personal thoughts. I would have to say the author must have had a person experience with death or life that was ripped away because this novel was so perfect, it's eerie!

I didn't realize until I'd gotten through most of this book that it was part of a series - and I'd actually read the first book quite a while ago! While I remember enjoying the first book, I have to say that this one was very well written, more so than I remember from the first novel. We get great angst and drama, and Nate, the hero, manages to retain his masculinity while allowing the heroine to work out her drama in her own time. The ending felt a bit rushed, but I enjoyed the rest of the book so much that I didn't mind.
