Spiritual Gifts in the Local Church

Rate this book
Practical Insight and Instructions for Using the Gifts of the Spirit in the Congregation Although recent renewal movements have led to widespread acceptance of spiritual gifts for today, very little has been written to help churches integrate spiritual gifts in the ministry and daily life of the people of God. Such is the purpose of this book. John Wimber says, "This book will be greatly used as a practical handbook to help-churches around the world wanting to learn how to do what we believe the Holy Spirit is telling the churches to do today." A respected leader of the Renewal Movement in England, author David Pytches points out that this is not a rule book. It is rather a set of guidelines offered to local churches, basic teaching material to adopt or adapt in administrating the use of the gifts defining them biblically, instructing on their proper use, and warning of possible abuse. An Ideal Text for Class Teaching and Discussion

I was given this along with Defeating Dark Angels and I Give You Authority by Charles Kraft, so I pushed myself through this book, but unlike the other two I really had to drag myself through it. In some ways it is a useful primer on spiritual gifts and practices, however it is very dated in format and language. Distractingly so. I can't really recommend it because it is not reader-friendly. I hope to find a more readable primer in the future.
