I picked up this book specifically to fill the “Book from our local authors shelf” category from the library’s year long reading challenge. At the specific time of my browsing, this title seemed the most appealing. I was pleasantly surprised overall. So many vampire romances have the vampire (of either/any gender) falling in love with a mortal/human (of either/any gender), but “Hidden” specifically brings a young (thirty years since turning) vampire into the sphere of a centuries old natural born. It’s not exactly an enemies to lovers dynamic but Lilith does begin with a generalized animosity towards vampires (including herself) and Benjamin significantly thaws her opinion.
Minor Spoiler: Hekate, the ancient Greek goddess of Magik and Death can be an absolutely manipulative b****.

Kat Holmes delivers a powerful punch in this debut novel of her Hekate's Web Series.

Lilith, sequestered since her turning, thirty years ago, guarded by a water demon who hates vampires, has had enough!

There MUST be more to the world than the narrow portions Demon Royce and Secretive Hekate allow her to feed in...

While across the vampiric domain...

Benjamin has a mission...protecting the few female vampires left.

He and his made generals believe they have found them all, keeping the precious females well cossetted and protected by them...

Until the night a vampire beats the living tar out of them and emerges from the shadows.

HIDDEN book one in this inventive vampire twist, blew me away.

The vampire world, so used to it's male powerhouses, NEEDED a heroine like Liltih to come along and make all those dark and dangerous boys sit up and quiver beneath her pearly fangs...

and omg...this is JUST book one in this SERIES!

I LOVE this book and can't wait for the next Hekate's Web offering.

The first time Lilith saw Benjamin Fortescu smile; it did things to her, things left better unsaid. This is a direct quote from Hidden, and I love it! Kat Holmes’ description of her character’s attraction to the man says it all. True, he is drop dead gorgeous, which is nothing surprising since the man is a vampire, but Lilith is as well. Hidden not your usual vampire story. The author’s twisty plot leads the reader in all different directions you’d never expect. For instance, thirty years earlier, just after Lilith was turned by a rogue vampire, the Goddess Hekate took a special interest in her. She makes is possible for Lilith to remain hidden, and provides her with a guardian, a water demon named Royce. He and Lilith share a love-hate relationship. She finds him an insufferable smart aleck, and he hates all vampires. Lots of action! I flew through this fast paced adventure in one sitting. If you like a sizzling vampire story with a twist, this one is for you.

If you can get past the editing issues of the first chapter, you'll find yourself reading a wonderful tale of vampire romance. Lillith is and engaging character and the ending is a real surprise. Great vampire story plus a Greek goddess.
