Kaeleb's Dad

Rate this book
There I was sitting in the courtyard of the Phoenix Baptist Hospital staring blankly at the most beautiful woman I had ever met. She just stood there by the door smoking her cigarette. She was dressed in a blue dress with a yellow belt. This combination only highlighted her thin shape. She weighed 110 pounds if she was lucky. Her dark brown hair flowed to shoulder length with the right front combed back. Her hazel eyes were penetrating when she looked at you. It was hard to believe that this woman had just given me an ultimatum. At least that was the way I interpreted it. For the words “this baby is going to make it with or without you” did come out of her mouth. We had just found out that our son was diagnosed as a potential SIDS child. And the terror of that message was tearing me apart. She knew this, and yet, she remembered what it was like to lose a child to this condition and immediately decided that it would not happen again. My God, where did she get such courage and resolve?
