Discusses the six Apollo missions that landed on the moon, describing the work performed there, what it is like to walk on the moon, and the collection of moon rocks.
“One small step for man, One giant leap for mankind” said Neil Armstrong as he embarked on the greatest mission known to man... landing on the moon. The book's title is “Apollo Moonwalks” by Gregory Vogt, it is a nonfiction book, about the missions to our satellite the moon. The conflict was HUGE, it was the Soviet Union vs the United States, and we all know who won that, well, we won on being the first people on the moon, not in space, but when they embarked on actually landing on the moon, things were tough, men died in the Apollo 1 missions, ships crashed, and multiple fails occurred during the launching of 11 missions, on Apollo 11, we landed on the moon on July 20th, 1969. Then a total of 7 missions to the moon occurred, all fully successful, besides Apollo 13 which sent shivers down people's spines for years to come, “Houston… we have a problem” those were the words of the astronauts as they struggled to make it back home safely. Overall, it is about landing on the moon, and their experience. Overall, I liked this book a lot, I’m really into the whole “Space” thing, I know a lot about the universe, and this is just one of those interesting things I like to sway towards when it comes to literature.
If I were to give a rating of 1 to 10, ten being the best, I’d rate it at a 9, only because the only con, is that their isn’t a whole lot of pages, so what I did was read another book about Apollo moonwalks, by the same author to get a better taste at what the whole dilemma of space travel in the Apollo missions. My opinion, it’s a great book, it describes the history of space travel as if they were their to experience it themselves. My pros about it are easy, it’s informative, well written, and describes it in full detail. My cons about the book, it isn't’ very long, it’s only around 80 pages but it is actually quite fun to read, another con is that it gives too many pictures, I know that this book is designed for like 12 year olds, but it actually is pretty interesting. If I could have a much longer version with less pictures, that’d mean that this book would be a 10/10 no question.
