It's a story of "firsts"-- Zoey Brooks' first day as a member of the first class at PCA to include girls; her first struggles with her "could the be more opposite?" roommates, and her first tryouts for the formerly all-boys basketball team. Zoey's the girl all readers want to be friends with-she's Zo' Cool!!
Jane B. Mason grew up in a large family in northern Minnesota. She has written books for kids of all ages under many names and on many subjects, among them ghosts, Jedi, detective duos, princesses, twins, mean girls, and slam books.
Jane has lived in the midwest and on both coasts, but appears to have settled in Oakland, California, and writes almost every day at either a friend's dining room table or a little studio in her back yard, where she has a purple loveseat, a whole lotta books, and an odd selection of trinkets she has unwittingly been collecting since she was a child.
This book's central focus is Zoey Brooks. In the first portion of this book, Zoey moves into her new boarding school, Pacific Coast Academy. Upon arrival, she meets her new guy best friend, Chase Matthews. Chase takes Zoey to her dorm room. After Zoey settles in, she explores the campus with her new perky roommate, Nicole Bristow. The campus walk makes Zoey interested in the basketball team, to the chagrin of Logan Reese. This leads to a confrontation between the pair, which results in a guys versus girls basketball game. Zoey and her roommate, Dana Cruz are added to the basketball team. In the second story, Zoey spends the week fighting with her roommates as they adjust to living together. Eventually, they make up and learn how to compromise. Overall, I found this book wholesome and a delight to read. I enjoyed that the characters and their traits were similar to the TV show. I wish the plot points of the book were different from the TV show. This would give the stories variety, but I digress.

For the life of me I don't know why I enjoyed these books so much. I was a huge fan of the show. I always wanted to go to PCA, it seemed so glamorous and fun. The books made me feel so girly. I devoured these!
