Apart from anything that Kamal Ahmed Rizvi (and Anwar Maqsood) ever wrote / filmed, 'Interview' is my favourite, where a clueless / over-vigilant / elitist journalist interviews an author of ghost stories and tries to find philosophical / over the top / 'literary critic' meanings out of his writing.
This is my first read of Shafiq Ur Rahman. The first chapter titled "Interview" was my favourite. The author really showed how well researched and learned he is only in 5 pages of writing.
The rest of the 8 chapters started off strong but got boring as they went on.
The writing style is easy to follow. The humour is a hit or miss. Occasionally it relies on readers knowledge of subjects not very well known during the time of it's publishing.
Some of the vocabulary used felt too much for a comedic piece of writing making it pretentious in some scenarios.
Probably the first Urdu book that made me laugh genuinely , afwaein and astafsarat-jawabat were my favourite , excellent and easy to understand writing
