I gently received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
First of all, this is not a standalone. You have to read Bastard to read Luckiest Bastard. But that’s not the main reason. You have to read Bastard because you have to. Period.
JL Perry was a complete stranger to me until a few months ago when my bestie told me: “you have to read Bastard by JL Perry”. I asked her: “who”? But she told me to read it and I, without a second thought, read it.
When I started reading “Bastard” I never thought I would find such an amazing story. I figured it would be good. But I must confess that I wasn't prepared for what I found. I wasn't prepared to read such a compelling and heartwarming story.
At the end, I was completely surrendered.
This review is not about Bastard, is about the Luckiest Bastard. However, you can’t talk about one and forget about the other.
Carter is back and I couldn't be happier.
Although the story is told in a dual POV again, I think this one is more focused on Carter and his emotions.
Carter and Indi are facing another challenge. And once again, their love is put to test.
Carter, the man, the husband, the father! All facets of the same boy who called himself a Bastard after what he had been through.
I cried while I was reading this book because it brings the best in us. It brings love, hope and faith. It shows us what unconditional love is. It shows us that when the time comes and we have to make decisions, love is selfish. Carter and Indi are the perfect match. They need each other to be full.
The challenge they’re facing now allow us to believe that true love exists and no matter what, love will always prevail.
I loved to know more about them. I loved to know that Carter remained the same, with his dirty filthy mouth and that Indi stood by him, loyal to what she believed was the right thing to do. Their chemistry remains and it made me very happy. Together, they continue their journey, facing maybe the biggest challenge of all: trust. They will have to learn to trust each other again to be complete.
JL Perry presented us with a beautiful gift by giving us the pleasure to revisit Carter & Indi’s world.
The bonus Christmas scene is overwhelming. I found myself crying so much that I had to stop, grab tissues and come back to finish because I couldn’t simply put it down.
Thank you JL Perry for another amazing book and for bringing Carter back.
This book owned its place at the MUST READ shelf and I can’t give it less than 5 stars.
