Bourbon Springs #3

Angels' Share

Rate this book
After the deaths of her parents and husband, high school history teacher Lila McNee inherits her family's land and retreats to her childhood home in search of safety and solitude in Bourbon Springs, Kentucky. Yet instead of the peace she needs to heal, she discovers her neighbor to the north, Bo Davenport, the owner-distiller of Old Garnet Distillery, desperately wants a big chunk of her land along the property line which has been subject to dispute for years. Bo wants land to expand the distillery, one of his father’s last wishes, and sees the property as rightfully belonging to Old Garnet. But the land is Lila’s refuge against a world that has only brought her heartbreak, and is the home to her beloved and historic springs, and the very spot from which Bourbon Springs derived its name over two centuries earlier.

After months of fruitless negotiations, Bo sues Lila. And she sues him back. Drawn together by conflict over the place they adore, the two find themselves falling for each other. But if they can't find a solution to the land dispute and figure out a way to share that which is most dear to them, they not only risk losing the lawsuit, they also risk losing their chance at love.

ANGELS’ SHARE is the third book in the Bourbon Springs Series, an upcoming nine-book series of smooth, sensual, sexy, slow-burn contemporary romances set amidst the lush and rolling Land of Bourbon and Bluegrass of central Kentucky.

Enjoyed this book the best of the first four (including the short story 1.5) and found it more emotional than the other books. I found the character development more thorough in this book and the story arc well paced. The precipitating event and the crisis moments were well done and very in character. The story flowed well.

I also have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the “redemption” of Bo in this book as I commented in my review of book two that I did not find him at all likeable.

I really like both Lila and Bo and I was really rooting for them to get beyond their issues and get their HEA. There were parts of the book that brought me to tears and though I definitely saw the developments involving Emma coming it didn’t impact my enjoyment of the book at all.

I felt Hannah got redeemed in this book also as she was extremely unlikeable I’m books one and two. I really enjoyed getting to know Cici better and am looking forward to book four for her story.

Definitely liked this book the best and am hoping it’s a positive sign for the remainder of the series.

This is the third novel in the Bourbon Springs series.
Overall, I have enjoyed reading the series thus far. I've enjoyed all the characters (main and secondary), and I've really enjoyed learning about bourbon and how it is made. Angels' Share was very informational and I love learning about things.

As far as romance novels go, it is pretty standard. I've enjoyed the books, and they are quick and easy reads.

I did not rate this book higher because there were sections where I've skimmed a lot due to excessive details. It is a distraction for me. I feel like I know every outfit the characters own- Lila's outfit was even described twice on the same page.
Also, the foreshadowing in this book was a little too heavy. I predicted every twist.
I also felt that Cici was forced into this book a little too much. I know it is to prep the Cici/Walker romance in the fourth book, but it was a little too much.
All three points are a matter of having TOO much of something. Which, of course, is better than not enough. And some people love super detailed books, so I know there are people that will read my review and be excited about the aspect.

I received a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet comfortable read...with characters that you have already grown to love from the previous two books in the series. The author captures the emotions for each character so perfectly, leaving you with the same feelings as if are experiencing what the characters are in that moment. The story is constantly moving forward, never lost in too many scene descriptions, but just enough to where you feel you are right there...whether it's in the cold of the snow, or in awe while standing at the springs. I'm very much looking forward to reading further stories in the series.

I was provided with this advanced reader copy by the author for my honest opinion...the above review is of my own making and has in no way been influenced by the author.

This third book in the Bourbon Spring series is aimed at Bo Davenport and Lila McNee’s romance and disagreement over land. Lila owns land that Bo wants to expand the family distillery, Old Garnet, on. He claims that the line of their lands is different than what she says it is and since Lila says otherwise Bo decides to sue her for the land. This gets his mother, Emma, and sister, Hannah, involved as well and they tell Bo he is a fool. They tell him in one way or another he will lose the two things that he loves the most the distillery and Lila if he doesn’t come to an arbitration on the land. We watch Lila and Bo’s love story blossom while they are fighting over land and see Bo and Hannah deal with the death of a parent as well.

This is Lila and Bo's story. Still fighting over the land they begin to fall in love. They have some rough spots and then Lila finally looks at another option. There is a fire in one of the rick houses. Lots of action and some sex in this one. Love the Ky Bourbon stories.

From the time I read book 1 I wondered about Bo and what was wrong with him.
For a minute there I thought he wasn't going to get it together. A great reminder that sometimes we are holding on to other people's dreams for us rather than our own.

This story started out ok but somewhere along the line something happened. The story changed, in my opinion the reading became for lack of a better word more immature. The wording started to read like something a high schooler would write.

Bo and Lila are in a tussle over a boundary dispute. Neither back down and lawyers get involved. They also feel the sparks and love in between them. Will the boundary dispute mean love is off the table?

It’s time for another tale from the deliciously rich and heady Bourbon Springs series. This time we are gifted with Bo and Lila’s story.

Bo Davenport is so stubborn, and opinionated, and stubborn (yes, again). Bo has a bad habit of sticking to his opinion, even when (or especially when) he’s wrong. He wants a piece of disputed land that borders along Old Garnet Distillery property and his neighbors and Lila’s parents property. He wants that land, he needs that land and come hell or high water he is going to get that land. Who knew that Lila would be as stubborn as he was about what she considered her land?

Now this is not meant as a sexist remark, just a female observation but… don’t you sometimes just want to stand up with one hip jutted out, arms crossed heaving a huge sigh with a disgusted grunt of one simple word: Men! Bo has always brought out this reaction in me. He is just so bull-headed, I’m always right no matter what – stubborn. Oh, don’t get me wrong he has some lovely attributes, and is definitely easy on the eyes. I love him dearly, I truly do, I also want to shake him ’til his brains rattle. But then that is a pretty high compliment to the author when she can get me to love and be exasperated with the man in the same sentence.

Lila and Bo really are a great compliment to each other as a couple. They are believable, and maybe not every couple will run into their unique situation, I had no trouble accepting that they love each other “in spite of” the ongoing property battle. Now as long as Bo doesn’t do something stubbornly stupid – wait, I’m talking about Bo here. Okay, rewind, in the hopes that when Bo does something totally stupid and should Lila forgive him – these two will have an amazing future and happy ever after. *fingers crossed*

I loved Angels’ Share so much. But then, I’ve loved this entire series so far. I’m a southern girl wannabe at heart, and I love bourbon so this series is just as close to perfect for me as I’m going to find. None of the characters are totally over the top, all are believable as real people and for the most part, I can relate to their troubles. While I love an Alpha male, a constant diet of them is a bit difficult to digest. Give me a break with a southern gentleman and I’m a happy woman.

All joking aside – Bourbon Springs series and Angels’ Share are amazing stories with realistic people facing life and falling in love along the way. They come highly recommended by me – and I sincerely hope that you will give them a try real soon. You will find the charming South, details on bourbon, ways to drink it, make it and present it in all of it’s glory – and at the heart you will find happy ever afters that are well deserved. Pick up Angels’ Share and discover this wonderful place for yourself.

*I received an e-ARC of Angels’ Share from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

I am pretty hooked on this series. Angels Share is book 3 and while it prob can be read alone, it is better to read in order. Brady and Rachel, the couple in book one are hardly featured here but Hannah and Kyle from book 2 are very prominent in this story and the story begins as they arrive back from their honeymoon with the news that Hannah's brother Bo, is suing there neighbor and friend Lila for a dispute on her property line. Thats pretty much the basis of this story.

Bo who runs Old Garnet, the Bourbon Distillary, wants to expand and he wants to expand their borders and get land that Lila has to build on. They problem is they argue about where that line is. What I LOVED about this story is I learned so much about Bourbon, how to drink it, how they make it. I loved reading about the history and learning about the different flavors, textures and treats you can make with Bourbon. I totally would have loved some recipes at the back of the book .

I also LOVED Emma, she is Bo and Hannah's mother and she totally stole this book. I loved learning so much about her and how she helped Bo and Lila try and work out their issues. I did feel like Bo fell for Lila a little too fast. But then again they have known each other a long time. Bo also didn't seem like women were a priority for him up to Lila, so maybe thats why he fell so fast. Lila took a while to fall and I liked that. She is someone who suffered a lot in the past and I actually thought her past and how fast the people she loved died on her, would make her more hesitant to love and I am glad that when she fell, she did not try to resist.

I also want to say how I love that the men in these stories are more the quiet and strong type and when they fall they are all in. They are not guys who date lots of women but rather are waiting to find that special woman.

This book had a lot of surprises and it is a fun read but some serious stuff happens in this story and I am not spoiling any of those surprises.

This book was a great story and I will definitely be reading book 4 which features Walker and Cici.

Lila loves her school teaching job and just been able to go down to the spring that is on her property and to be close to her parents. She has lived next door to Bo & his family forever and she thought that they were friends but that is all about to change. Bo wants to build a new building as they don't have enough space at the distillery to keep all their bourbon barrels. Lila has a section of land that Bo wants and he takes her to court to prove that it is part of the distillery's land.
Lila can't back down and she will fight tooth and nail to keep all her land. Bo realizes that he would rather have Lila in his life and by his side so he drops the case.
Lila & Bo are happy and looking forward to the future until tragedy strikes and Bo loses her for good.
Can they ever work out their differences or will this be the last nail in the coffin. There is sadness and heartbreak and new beginnings. Hannah & Kyle are back in this one and it makes you realizes how close they all are.
This story is a rollercaster ride ups & downs and so fun in between. I have enjoyed all 3 books in the series as they were hard to put down once I started. I was lucky enough to get a ARC copy from the author. Thanks so much

I am thoroughly enjoying this series and cannot wait to get through the rest.

The emotions in this book are just plain raw. For Bo and Lila, its amazing how much we go through that tests our resolve. My heart breaks when Bo breaks down but my absolute favourite part is when he asks Lila to support him. With all the fighting and arguments and pain, they turn to each other. Yes, it's not easy to overlook the emotional turmoil of their struggle, but the fact that they can put each other's emotions first when they need each other during tough times....

What I love about series (and especially this one) is that the lives of the couples (and other characters) introduced in the previous books don't suddenly stop or go on with happy ever after moments. They experience raw, real life sadness, tragedies, pain and everyday celebrations are part of life.

I love this series and more than the story, I love reading about the setting of the small town. The history of the families and their legacies. From land to bourbon to the favourite little places that only the natives appreciate....Makes me want to book a flight from South Africa and backpack through this little town with my husband, just to meet these people and have a proper tasting session of the actual Bourbon.

Will Bo ever learn? Lila has suffered so much loss so her family home and the springs on her property mean the world to her, when Bo threatens the very land she cherishes, well, she digs in and fights back. Bo is so stubborn and can only see his father's vision for the distillery, will he let this cloud his judgement about Lila and cause him to miss out on love? This is a fabulous back and forth between two very strong-willed and passionate individuals. You can't help but want them to figure out they are the best thing in the world for each other but Jennifer Bramseth keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. As an added bonus you get to spend more time with all the characters in Bourbon Springs which to me is wonderful.

I got this book as an ARC from Net Galley. Was a good story, but I found myself wandering away from this book a few times. It didn't grab me & keep me through it all. I enjoyed Lila & Bo but did feel that their relationship woes were dragged out a little too long. I loved Bo's mother Emma & his sister Hannah, they gave Bo a run for his money when it came to their opinion of his relationship with Lila & how he kept trying to get her land her thought was actually theirs. Bo & Lila were very hot together when they made it that far. The book had its ups & downs & some extremely sad spots. I think my one real feeling towards this book was that I wanted to scream for Lila to get over herself when she couldn't forgive Bo.

The grief and pain of lost and the fight for family legacy is something that Lila and Bo share. But will a fight over land cost Lila and Bo a future together. Lila and Bo's relationship was a complicated one. Each believed themselves right and would not concede or compromise. Blinded by grief, the solace they find from conflict may lead to the bloom of love. If given a chance. Strong writing and an emotional story line makes Angel's Share a worthwhile read. Received an ARC for an honest review.

What tastes better than Bourbon? It must be the taste of Love. Angel's Share is a bittersweet story of Bo and Lila and their struggles to communicate, compromise, trust, love and grieve. As I read this story my emotions were elevated, there were parts where I laughed and parts where I was sad. This third book in The Bourbon Springs series is a wonderful read and I would recommend this series to anyone.

This was the third in the Bourbon Springs series that I've read and I think it was my favorite. That is because Bo Davenport and Lila McNee are flawed stubborn people who finally realize that they have more in common than they thought.

I loved the scene in which Bo taught Lila how to appreciate bourbon. As a bourbon drinker myself, I found it not only an intriguing way to introduce romance (he kisses her for the first time) but educational.

Great read! Like the other two books, this book has you hooked within the first few pages. LOVED how Lila stood her ground (pun intended), how Bo learned that he (or both) needed to trust. This was a sweet and loving read. The characters are now family. Can't wait to see what the next installment brings

Love the bourbon springs book

I have read all 3 of the series in the last week. Each one is better than the last one. Can not wait till the next is released. Angels Share is wonderful. I don't just enjoy the romance story but the history of the bourbon area of Kentucky. I have visited the area in the past but now it has me hoping to go back to that area of Kentucky very soon.
