Ashlyn Chase has been a registered nurse for 20 years. During those years, she wrote articles for professional journals and a thesis, but eventually, thank goodness, discovered the joy and freedom of writing fiction.

Ashlyn considers herself lucky. Her degree in behavioral sciences is a combination of psychology and sociology, so she has worked with and studied people most of her life. She never has to write out exhaustive character sketches to understand her characters or predict how they will behave. That doesn't mean they don't surprise her. Sometimes they take her on grand unexpected journeys. For her, it gives "character driven novels" a whole new meaning.

Ashlyn has learned to go with the flow. To enjoy the journey is not only one of her writing goals, but also a challenge in life so she tries to follow where the story takes her. As such, she has lived in 17 different places over the years. At last, she's all settled down and comfy in New England.

Is there a grand design or do we decide our own fates? Perhaps if the powers-that-be have a plot, then they also give us the right to revise it. Ashlyn has certainly made detours on her path, but she thinks she's better for it. She's having fun at any rate and hopes that if she enjoys the journey, so will those around her—including her readers.

My Wild Irish Dragon by Ashlyn Chase

2nd book in the Boston Dragon series. Can be read as a standalone.
Chloe is a dragon and Ryan is a phoenix in the city of Boston. Both start out in competition for a firefighter position but their attraction to each other has them thinking kissing is better than fighting. Now they just need to tame all their paranormal friends and family to their version of happiness.

Paranormal fun and silliness. Although with a phoenix, you know there is going to be a death and rise from the ashes scenario. While I didn’t like the family solution, things work out enough to have a happy ending.

Hot sex scenes included. Yes, in human form! Not kinky, just detailed and often. They are a young and in love couple after all.

Could it sound any more perfect? A secret dragon shifter and a secret phoenix shifter, both vying for the job in the same fire department without giving away their true natures. Tension between Chloe and Ryan runs as hot as the flames Chloe can spew and the flames Ryan can be re-born through, and that’s before the alarm has sounded. To call Chloe competitive and determined would be an understatement, but Ryan must uphold the proud legacy his firefighting family has created in Boston.

Now, they can either call a truce after both were hired which means there is no story or, they can continue to make sparks fly. When Ryan can’t let go of his protective nature where Chloe is concerned, they are both in for a huge awakening when it ends up being Ryan who needs saving and Chloe is just the dragon to do it! Could this be the start of something neither can avoid or will they both be caught in lies by omission, ending any chance for love to grow?

Funny, clever, cute and certainly filled with secrets, My Wild Irish Dragon by Ashlyn Chase is a light read that most definitely entertains. I loved Chloe, that girl definitely breathes fire and has a stubborn streak a mile long. Ryan, well, he seems like maybe he could use some twenty-first century 101 classes when dealing with women. There is a way to be protective but not smothering and his filters, well, sometimes he is a bit too obvious. Now Chloe, lacks all filters unless the situation is dire.

The question remains, can a fire-breathing dragon and a mythical bird who rises from flames avoid burning the house down with their unbridled passion? A fun read, easy to laugh with.

A dragon shifter, Chloe, and a phoenix shifter, Ryan, both want the newest opening on the Boston Fire Department. Neither knows the other's nature but sparks truly do fly when they are competing for the same position.

Ryan becomes very protective of Chloe, while Chloe is set against ever having a relationship due to her perfect match having impossible diamond eyes. She fights the attraction toward Ryan but he methodically breaks down her walls.

This story is flat out fun. Cute and endearing romance with a fiery hot connection that cannot be denied. My Wild Irish Dragon had me laughing out loud and cheering our H/H on.

My Wild Irish Dragon was a delightful read.

Chloe and Ryan both want the same job at the safe fire station, but only one position is open. This leads to the two competing for the position. But, the chief finds funding to hire both since both are so well qualified. You think they would stop their competition now that both got the job, but their rivalry continues. Soon they learn to respect the other, become friends, and fall for one another. The banter and humor was enjoyable between these two. Their relationship felt honest and deep as it developed throughout the story.

I also enjoyed several side characters and family members. I didn’t care so much for Chloe’s cousin Aiden and his storyline. I was a bit shocked that when he did something completely against Mother Nature’s rules their was no repercussions at all.

The only thing that still gets to me and this bothered me in the first book too. Why can’t the shifters or supernaturals smell that someone is a shifter or a supernatural? They can use other aspects of their abilities when in human form. So, why can’t they use this one? This would clear things up and help.

I had a pleasant time with My Wild Irish Dragon. I liked that two noble paranormals where trying to make a difference in their community. I also enjoyed the humor that was brought into the storyline.

A dragon and phoenix go head to head and have a semi-friendly competition when applying for the same firefighting job. Ryan thinks he deserves as oldest in his family where firefighting is in their blood; whereas Chloe feels like she deserves the chance as she has worked just as hard as any man. Ryan thinks Chloe should be doing office work as her petite size could never compare to a man’s strength. Chloe begins to show what she is worth and Ryan is awed and feels his protective side come out whenever she is in danger. They form an unbreakable bond that nothing can shake not even her meddling cousin or Mother Nature.

Upon reading the blurb, I thought I might like it but surprisingly, I liked it so much more than I thought! The story line has been used before but most everyone loves a good frenemy story. These characters grow on you even though one is annoyingly over-confident and the other is too prideful. Once you get passed that the book was unexpectedly funny and charming. It has been awhile since I have read a good dragon paranormal romance which has been awesome.

As we see Ryan and Chloe go through their journey of braking down their walls and opening themselves up the chance of love. The supporting characters I had to love especially Rory and Amber who are from the first book, I Dream of Dragons. Miss Chase provided a good story line with characters you would want to hang out with.

In the end I really enjoyed this book and am interested in following the story, even if Aiden is next. He kind of bugged me for his ridiculous proposal!

I was gifted a copy of this novel from the JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review.

I found some of the world building in this perplexing (the Mother Nature thing is baaaaad, but maybe it's fully explicated in the first book in the series), but if I had to read a non-mammal shifter this was kind of fun. I would have actually have liked to have seen the shifter element play more into the plot earlier in the book, because it's talked around a lot, but it's not until maybe the last quarter that it plays a huge role in the book.

Next up in the Boston Dragons series is My Wild Irish Dragon, the romance of a phoenix shifter and a lovely Irish dragon both vying for the same position with the Boston firefighters.

Chloe is determined to fill that open spot. Oh, these guys might think that she’s too small, too lightweight to be able to do the job. That’s fine, let them think what they will, she knows the inner strength of her dragon can outmatch them all, and then some. But it’s always fun to watch them try…

Ryan comes from a long line of firefighters and phoenix shifters. He’s worked for this position, but he also is under the mistaken belief that his family connections alone can get him the job. He honestly wasn’t expecting much competition given his phoenix is at the ready to lend him what strength he might need, but that one girl is surprising him. There’s something about her…

Chloe and Ryan start off as competitors, maybe fr-enemies. But that won’t last long, their chemistry is off the charts and eventually they will have to deal with each other on a more personal level.

I enjoyed My Wild Irish Dragon. Lots of shifters and various other paranormal folks will drop in, some excitement, some danger and a whole lot of two people discovering that just perfect for them person. I admit to having a soft spot for Shifters, especially when the unusual shifters appear like a phoenix. I adored Chloe but to be honest, at times Ryan’s childishness grated a bit. Oh, I got it’s a coping habit, a way of blowing off steam if you will, but there were times when I didn’t want the childish Ryan, I wanted the man. Nitpicking, maybe. Yet I’ve read enough firefighter stories over the years, both contemporary and paranormal to know that it’s possible to have the escape valve but never loose the man. Again, that was my reaction, it might not be yours so simply a thought.

In all, I enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend it for any Paranormal Romance reader, especially those Shifter lovers out there… I know, me too.

When this one first started out I wasn't sure about it. I didn't like how Chloe and Ryan kept snipping at each other. If that was going to keep up the whole book it was going to get old fast. It was nice when they managed to work towards being friends. I found it funny how each was hiding their supernatural secret. Unfortunately they came out in a big way, a way that was devastating to one of them.

Mother Nature was very funny in this one. I loved how she managed to put everyone in their place, get what she wanted and give Chloe and Ryan a HEA.

**My thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This was a fun read, but not something that i would pick up again in a hurry.

In this book we get a Dragon Princess from Ireland who is a thousand years old who has moved to Boston and she has decided to be a fire fighter, something she believes she can do well.

We also have a male 500 year old Phoenix who's whole family are firefighters and he also believes that he deserves the advertised firefighter role.

The secrets withheld are not withheld to us so there is little that turns out to be a surprise and Mother Nature/Gaia falls a little flat in her nature to help and Aiden felt like he was turning bad, but very suddenly changes his mind about marrying Chloe after one look at Amber's friend Candy.

The romance between the two started off slow, but soon hotted up and Ryan found that Chloe is more than he bargained for.

My Wild Irish Dragon is the second book in the 'Boston Dragons' series by Ashlyn Chase. I haven't read the first in the series, so can safely say that this one can easily be read as a stand alone book.

It is the story of Chloe Arish, a dragon shifter, who desperately wants to be a firefighter. As a Dragon that can't burn, being a firefighter is the perfect job for her, and she wants nothing more than to help people. Unfortunately when she goes for the interview for the job she realises that somebody else is going for the same job too, a man who seems on friendly terms with the interviewer. It's hard enough to try to enter a primarily masculine job without being up against a friend of the man who is to decide on who gets the job.

The other person going for the job is Ryan Fiero. He comes from a long line of Boston Firefighters, and they all happen to be Phoenix shifters. If any of them were to die in a fire, the phoenix would emerge and the man in question would resurrect. Knowing that they have that ability makes them fearless at their jobs, and also in Ryan's mind, makes him a shoe in for the job. He's none too pleased when he realises that Chloe is after the same job as him, but doesn't dream she has a hope of getting it.

Fortunately for the both of them, they are such great candidates, that the boss works all the angles he can to make sure that both of them get hired. Of course nobody knows that they are shifters, and Chloe and Ryan don't know each others secret either. All the two know is that at some point one of them will probably end up getting moved to another fire station and neither of them want it to be them. From the get go they are competitive, and Ryan is really angry that he is having to train with a woman. It isn't long until he appreciates how good she is though. It also isn't long before both of them realise that they are very much attracted to each other. A relationship in the same station is frowned upon, so not only do they have to keep their feelings quiet, they are each hiding their shape shifting abilities from the world and each other.

Both families have strict rules when it comes to marriage and breeding, and Ryan and Chloe have both got responsibilities that in the end could tear them apart. Can their relationship go anywhere when so much is working against it?

I really enjoyed this book, and that's saying something considering I don't normally like 'shifter' stories. This one intrigued me though because I have never heard of a phoenix shifter, plus I love dragons, so thought I'd give it a go. I am so glad I did because I was pleasantly surprised at just how good the book is. I loved the fire fighting angle, especially where a woman has to break into what is primarily a male orientated occupation. How she deals with the 'hazing' is great, and I love that she can be a strong woman without coming across as butch. The relationship between Ryan and Chloe was hot, definitely not for the under 18s, and the whole old word aspect of both families was a delight to read. I will definitely go back and read the first book, and will read any future books in this series too because I am sure they will all be equally as good as this one.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Lately, I've been finding that I quickly lose interest in books with long drawn out angst and drama between the main characters especially when they get past the twenty percent mark with nothing else happening and I was going to give up on this book for that reason, but having read the previous book and enjoyed Chloe's character, I was hoping that it would improve, which thankfully it did.

Becoming a firefighter is a natural progression for dragon shifter Chloe Arish but with only one job opening and a competitor for that slot, Chloe is determined to nab it and her audacious play for it is both hilarious and unexpected but her competition is no slouch either.

Phoenix shifter Ryan Fiero is from a legendary family of Boston firefighters and pretty much expected that his family cred would put him over the top for the job since acing the tests was an easy feat and was not prepared for any competition, let alone from a woman.

And a rivalry is born.

Both Chloe and Ryan have supernatural abilities and everything is an opportunity to outdo the other, but the attraction between them changes their relationship from frenemies to something else, although not without a lot of friction.

Chloe is a firebrand (pun intended) in every way. Independent and tough, she has no idea how attractive she is nor how to capitalize on her looks, she only wants to be respected for her skills. For Ryan, dealing with Chloe is a balancing act that can be difficult sometimes as he swings between being protective of her and letting her take care of herself.

With a stubborn Chloe and an overconfident Ryan comes a lot of drama, a lot of it funny and lighthearted, including as well-meaning but overly interfering family members, but will the secrets they are both keeping from each other help or hinder their relationship? And will Mother Nature be a help or a hindrance?

Overall, MY WILD IRISH DRAGON is a very entertaining addition to the series. I loved Chloe but Ryan was really not my cuppa because he came across as a bit immature and annoying sometimes. My advice to readers is to go with the flow of the story in order to enjoy it and not pick apart the details.

Full review posted on Got Fiction?

Next is My Wild Irish Dragon by Ashlyn Chase- This has a Phoenix shifter and a dragon shifter who both are trying out for the Boston Fire Dept. How can you go wrong? To many, you can't. I seem to be the one random reader who isn't in love with this book.

The heroine is a thousand year old dragon princess from Ireland. I'm not sure how much I missed from the first book, but she's constantly messing up idioms. If any of you watch NCIS, it's a lot like how Ziva would say something like, "Does a bear sit in the woods?" But it made sense with Ziva. With Chloe, (which by the way, 1000 years ago, I don't believe that was a popular Irish name, it was Greek, originally, so there's that detail), but with Chloe, unless she's been isolated completely these past thousand years, wouldn't she know basic idioms? Like "Last one up is a rotten egg?" (quick note, my family is Irish, and my mom said she grew up with that phrase)

The hero is totally, ridiculously childish. He's like 25 or so I think, and since I'm married to a firefighter, I get how childish the guys can be. (Seriously. they were flinging pancakes like frisbees last time I was at the station). But he was childish in general, not just with the guys. He's not a thousand year old dragon so his sexism pissed me off. I totally would let it slide if he were medieval, but he's 25. And his mom was cool and wouldn't let crap like that fly, so why? Idk he just felt very immature.

So for me, this one wasn't one I hated, but the book annoyed me. And seriously, do you know how excited I was for a dragon and a phoenix shapeshifter firefighter couple?

This is the second book in the Boston Dragons trilogy.

Chloe Arish, a dragon from Ireland, and Ryan Fierro, a phoenix from a Boston firefighting family, are competing for the same position with the fire department. Their attraction is almost immediate although they try to fight it initially. They are both hired although Chloe must prove herself.

The book is great and I really liked it but there are some unanswered questions. I look forward to the third book.

Chloe wants to stay in America rather than return to her solitary life in rural Ireland. She's worked hard to become a U.S. citizen, and now she wants to help others and her adopted community by becoming a firefighter. As a dragon, she's well suited for the job. She cannot burn and is preternaturally strong. She just has to learn how to fit in and how not to over do it in front of humans.

Ryan also comes from a family of paranormals-Phoenix shifters. His family is Boston-breed and every male in his huge family is a firefighter. He's worried about embarrassing or disappointing his family if he doesn't make it at this particular firehouse. Oh and by the way, the chief is his father's best friend.

Chloe and Ryan go out for the same position within the fire department, but since both are so well-qualified, the chief finds the funding to hire both. Although the competition for the job is off the table, the pair continue their little rivalry during training. However soon the pair learn to respect the other, become friends, and fall for one another.

I found myself liking My Wild Irish Dragon right from the get go. I enjoyed the premise of two noble paranormals trying to make a difference in their community. I also liked how each fell for the other without knowing exactly who, or what, the other was. Of course the attempts to hide their paranormal status from the other made for some fun laughs. I also loved how Chloe's innocence and lack of modern upbringing allowed her to be more open with Ryan. Although they have a rocky start, the author does a great job bringing each around in his/her own way. Their relationship development felt honest and deep.

While I also enjoyed the several side characters and supporting family members, I didn’t care so much for Chloe’s cousin Aiden and his storyline. His misogynistic attitude and overbearing presence just annoyed me. And when he did something so completely against Mother Nature’s rules, I was shocked that there were no repercussions at all. It felt completely out of character for Gaia as presented in the story. Additionally, while I appreciated that the “I Love You’s” weren't right at the conclusion of the book, the ending (about 2 hours) was a continual back and forth over what to do with their future and the family duty. I needed the couple to just make a decision.

I really enjoyed the narration by Felicity Munroe. Her Boston and Irish accents were genuine and well performed. I like how she used a neutral female narrator across the board, only altering the voices for each speaking part. She had a great range of unique voices, each well-suited to the individual character.

In the end, I enjoyed My Wild Irish Dragon as narrated by Ms. Munroe. While I could tell the book was only one in a much larger world, I never felt lost or confused. I certainly plan to pick up the next title in Ms. Chase’s Boston Dragon series.

My Wild Irish Dragon by Ashlyn Chase is the second book in the Boston Dragons series. It is schedule for release on September 6 2016. The first book, I Dream of Dragons, is connected by characters, but I think that readers coming fresh to the story will be able to enjoy the story without having read the previous book.

Dragon shifter Chloe Arish is hell-bent on becoming a Boston firefighter. She uses her Irish charm and fake documents to score an interview, knowing she has to work every bit as hard as a man, harder if she wants their respect. Born into a legendary Boston firefighting family, phoenix shifter Ryan Fiero can't possibly let someone best him on the training course or the job. He'd never hear the end of it. When a feisty new recruit comes along who's determined to do just that, Ryan plots to kick her out-until their sizzling chemistry turns explosive.

My Wild Irish Dragon gives the assertive sister of the Irish dragon clan that has started settling into Boston her story. Chloe wants to help people, she has the skills and strength to be a firefighter so that is what she wants to do. Ryan comes from a family of fire fighters, and he cannot imagine doing anything else. The pair begin as rivals, but soon verbal sparing and competition turns into something much better. As they find their way together the pair need to keep their secrets, including their paranormal sides and couple status so they they are not separated on the job. As always, challenges keep popping up and inner doubts of the characters are shared regularly. I liked them both, and felt like their connection was solid. I think they fell together more easily than I am used to, but got to have an extra large surprise at the end because of that. It was a fun read, just not one that had me staying up late to finish.

My Wild Irish Dragon is a fun romance with plenty of chemistry and complications. While not the best paranormal romance I have read, it was an entertain read and I liked that the world of paranormal creatures n Chase’s books just expanded again.

This was another fun paranormal romance. Chloe is a dragon who is living in Boston and who decides that she can best contribute to life by becoming a fire fighter. It helps that she is fireproof. However, she is competing for the opening with Ryan Fierro who comes from a well-known Boston firefighting family. He happens to be a phoenix.

Chloe and Ryan turn their rivalry into a romance when both are accepted into the fire department, assigned to the same company, and assigned to the same shift. Neither knows about the other's paranormal ability though. Chloe has to deal with one of the firefighters who apparently doesn't like female firefighters but otherwise work goes smoothly - until Ryan "dies" in a fire.

I liked getting to see some of the characters from earlier books in this series including Chloe's brother and his girlfriend. I really like it when Mother Earth made her appearances in the story. I liked Chloe's assertiveness especially when dealing with her cousin Aiden who is determined that they should marry to prevent the dragons from going extinct.

There was a great combination of humor and spicy romance in this fast paced addition to the Boston Dragons series.

I picked this book up sight unseen at a recent library event. What the hell, I thought. At the very least, I can share some of the more absurd "steamy" phrases with my friends.

If any part of this book is as steamy as the cover seems to promise, I never got to it. The prose was awkward and rushed, and the characters were dull. I assume that the immortal fire-persons do eventually get together and do the various deeds, but I just couldn't bring myself to read that far.

My Thoughts:
Chloe and Ryan butt heads and steam up the pages as two who are so alike and in competition are put on the same level.

I love how determined and independent they both are but I love getting page time with MN teaching them a lesson. Its really great.

I love how strong Chloe is but some of the personality traits of our characters kind of bugged me still it was fun and there was laughs a plenty through the entire book.

The paperback issue that I have has a slightly different cover in that there's nothing over his shoulder.

This was another fun read. Ryan and Chloe make for a fun couple. Everything flows along quite nicely with no bumps or potholes. My one random thought is that it's sure handy that Mother Nature likes making modern muses/minor goddess. Takes care of a lot of what could be called 'difficult situations.' But that's all part of the fun.

Loved this book I love Dragons and the characters Ashland Chase has in the series already, The firefighters are the best, and this book is a dragon Phoenix crossover. Irish Princess Chloe comes to America to become a firefighter and is up against Rayan Ferrio a phoenix. well, all kinds of funny and not so funny things happen there are a love triangle and unwanted cousins. A funeral a rebirth and love. what more can you ask from a book?

What I loved about it was how these two characters learned alot about themselves, along with true love and asserting what they both wanted and providing modern solutions regardless of past traditions and duties.
It is fascinating story.

So I liked the two main characters well enough, but the supporting characters annoyed me a lot. Mother Nature was by far the most annoying character and honestly every scene she was in bothered me. I feel like this book also could have benefited from some more editing. There were times where the same thing happened and no one realized it.

New paranormal alert!

My Wild Iris Dragon sets up the next 5 books set in Chase's Boston universe and I am all for this take on phoenixes. Much like I Dream of Dragons, our couple applies for the same job of which there is one opening and competitive spirits ignite. Drake makes an appearance (and of course Amber and her fiance) but other than them not many of the characters from previous books make more than the briefest of cameos. This is ok as this book does a great job of standing on its own as it focuses on expanding the Arishes background and that portion of the world's mythology. Unlike previous books this one is pretty focused on the narration of our main couple which is nice as much of the plot is also focused around them too.

It was going to be a 1-star book because of how stereotypical it started out as but oh my god its hilarious sometimes! So much got piled onto the characters you just have to laugh! Though the incest plotline was not cool even if it was very very minor plot line

I loved how this book picks up from the first and with all the banter. I loved how we still everyone from the first book or at least hear about them while following the new MFC. It made me giggle and love the characters even more
