Ben

She walked on the bus and my heart stopped beating. When she looked my way with that sassy smile, it came back to life. Looking at her, getting to know her, I know she's the one for me—but she's so young. Her life is just starting and I've already done my fair share of living. I want her to be mine but is it right for me to ask her to settle down before she's really had a chance to live?

Nicole
He keeps watching me. I can't help but look back. He's gorgeous: tall, messy dark hair, and those intensely blue eyes captivating me. My life hasn't been easy by any means. Because of that I've had to grow up much faster than normal women do. I think that's why our age difference doesn't bother me at all. I wish it didn't bother him because this attraction isn't going away anytime soon and, in truth, I don't want it to. He could very possibly be my happily-ever-after and no matter how much he tries, I'm not going to let him talk me out of it until we give this a fighting chance.

Nicole is joining the Falling Down tour as she is the new Blush Baby. At 18 she is in remission (leukemia). She has gone through so much from a young age. When she walked on that bus she knew Ben was it for her but stubborn he is.

Like I always do. Because no matter how hard I push, he won’t give ‘us’ a chance.

Ben Kingston has set his eyes on Coley (Nicole) from the very moment he met her but he is afraid because of the age difference.

She has a lot of living to do before she settles down and I know if I get my hands on her I’m going to want forever

He really did step it up and became this amazing man for her. Loved it.

“Last chance, Nicole. Do you want this-and when I say ‘this’ I mean you and me forever. Once I have you there’s no going back, not for either of us”

I’m loving the mix of mafia and rock star craziness! All kinds of things happening and left hanging at the end. There is a traitor aboard and Jesse/Ben’s sister is kidnapped. Lucy faints and she’s getting ready to give birth to the Kingston litter (triplets).

Jumping to the next one.

descriptionDon't you know that family isn't always blood? Family is where you make it.

Ballad is the fifth book in the Rockstar Series by Anne Mercier and is COMPLETELY different to its predecessors. Jesse and Lucy's books are light and fluffy, Cage and Sera's book was intense and darker and well Xan 'MY' Man (watch out ladies. I claimed him a long time back! Back. Off!) provides the right amount laughter and madness, Ben and Nicole's book is emotional.

We met Ben in the first book and in case you haven't read the series he is Jesse's brother. Following him throughout we knew the kind of character Ben was... I think I need to rephrase that. We thought we knew who Ben was. Anne portrayed him as a fun character who give as much as he could take. I always thought that the two brothers couldn't be further apart in their nature. Well. WRONG! (Thanks Anne for never doing what is expected) Ben is more like Jesse than I ever thought he could be! In his emotions and the way he feels for Nicole, Ben is on the same level as Jesse if not more! Ben would do anything for her. Even keep himself away from her as to not hurt her.

Nicole or Coley is the 'Blush Baby' and definitely not what I had expected her to be. She is blunt, quick, sometimes a little bitchy and sassy as hell! There we times when I just wanted to slap the hell out of her. But just because I wanted to do that doesn't mean that she wasn't easy to love. Of course, that happened for me when I almost at the ending.

There was a constant tension throughout the book concerning Nicole which left me turning the pages at a lightening to speed to know if everything was gonna be fine. Things turned out be fine. Actually they are turned to be fantastically great... Oh you thought... Let's me be clear. NO!!

NO things were not fine!
Things were an absolute mess!
Things just couldn't stop!
Things just couldn't stop being just that... THINGS!!!
Oh no no no no no no, HELL NO! Because Anne gave the mother of all twists which resulted in me throwing a tantrum like a two year old.

Over all I liked the book and the constant twist and a few heart stopping moments that held my interest till the end.

How I love this wildly entertaining Series and the whole BFD crew! Their connection is wonderful and their banter hilarious. They all just work so well together. I love each and every one of the characters in this series. But no matter what my favorite remains Xander Mackenzie.

I liked this book. A lot! This was a couldn’t-put-down, smiled-like-a-lunatic, giggled-gasped-and-cried kind of a book.

Ballad grabbed me from the first page. The epilogue brought a level of emotion that pulled me right into the story and had my heart aching for Nicole (Aka Coley / Blush Baby).
When Ben and Nicole meet, it was love at first sight. But Ben held back his emotions and didn’t want to act on his true feelings toward her. So it was not sunshine and rainbows for those two. When they finally did get together, it was just wow! Throughout their journey complications arose and their relationship put to the test.

I adored Nicole’s strength and determination. Despite the uncertainty about her future she was willing to take a leap of faith and choose to follow her heart. She knew she had something in front of her worth holding on to and so she did what she could do to make that happen.

The love scenes were off the chart and I had to fan myself a couple of times!

I only had one small disappointment with this book. During the first 20% of the book the author took you on roller coaster ride of emotions with Lucian from The Burners and I was so torn between who I wanted Nicole to be with. I really was drawn to Lucian. Hope that Ms. Mercier will be planning soon a spin-off series to the Rockstar series.

The Rockstar Series is a perfect mix of Rockstar/Mafia book with the right balance between angst, action, humor and emotion.

Can’t wait to read Lullabye (Rockstar, #6) – More Jesse & Lucy and A Very Xander Christmas 2 (Rockstar #6.5) - coming this month.

Just love this series

This made me laugh made me sad made me anxious and happy all at the same time.

Don't know how I first came across Anne Mercier maybe it was while looking for rockstar reads and new releases but I did and so glad I did too , this series is a breath of fresh air.

You can so visually picture all the characters on the tour bus having a laugh and the banter between these guys is brilliant.

This is Nicole and Ben story it's heartwarming and for a while there I thought it was going to be a love triangle but it wasn't.

What it was, was a moving story and nearly brought tears to my eyes. it's a lot of things including hot.

"until your smile it was darkness"

"until you it was loneliness"

"until your touch I felt nothing"

"until your love my life was so fucking empty Nicole.

After reading about Lucian I would love to read more of his story and what was going on in his head I liked him.

I can't say this can be read as a standalone there's multiple povs and history and anyone delving in at this point would get confused you definitely have to start at the beginning which I loved so much and highly recommend.

Really looking forward to the next one I miss these guys it's so mixed with the rockstar lifestyle, mafia madness and crazyness I'm enjoying the journey.

I just simply cannot get enough of this series! Anne Mercier scored a hit, yet AGAIN, with Ballad!

All I'm going to say is...Ben Kingston. After reading Ballad, you'll be thinking "Jesse who?" Not really, but it's pretty close! I knew Ben's story was going to be good, but Anne blew "good" right out of the water! And Coley....she was such a different character than what I expected. The real-life struggles this young woman experiences make her remarkably strong and brave. It's a no brainer why Ben fell hard for her, and why he tried everything to stay away from her. But if we know anything about true love, it's that the harder you fight, the harder you fall.

Behind all the craziness of a rockstar tour, the new friendships, the not-so-hidden jealousies, and deception, is a truly genuine love story. The chemistry Ben and Coley share burns from the pages! From heartbreak to ecstasy, this couple experiences it all. The mark of an exceptionally outstanding author is one who makes their readers feel invested and connected to the characters. Anne has proved to us over and over that she is indeed one of these authors! The multiple POVs ties the story together perfectly!

Each book in the Rockstar Series keeps getting better! Anne Mercier holds us captivated with Ballad, while on her never ending climb up the literary mountain. A heart pounding, 5-star MUST READ!

It feels like i have been waiting AGES for this book when in reality its only been a few months. Which in literary terms isnt that long at all really, but when youre addicited/obsessed/in love with a writer and/or series time just has no meaning.
Ballad is Bens book.Ben is the guitarist for Falling Down and Nicole is the Blush Baby. On paper they shouldnt work but in Interlude you could just feel the attraction and sexual tension between them. Ben is a little too hesitant about starting anything with Coley. Partly because of the age gap and partly because he KNOWS. He knows once hes touched her thats it, all bets are off and she will be his. End of.
Ballad might have been Bens book but the other members of BFD make both their presence and voices known!! Damn you though Anne!! You make my heart break again for Xander. I just know in going to be a complete wreck when his turn comes for a book.
Cage is just cage but damn that Sera's a badass!!!! There were twist and turns in the plotline that i didnt expect or even see coming. JUST AMAZING!
Now let the countdown to Lullaby and A Very Xander Christmas #2

"Don't you know that family isn't always blood? Family is where you make it."

Nicole is the new blush baby...and joining the tour, living and breathing the rock star life is hard enough but then you are fighting leukemia is it all too much. 18 and untouched she finds herself part of the craziness that is a mix of Mafia and Rockstars. She knows he wants her as much as she wants him but time is not their friend.

Ben is afraid...he knows she is his sunshine but the age gap and the pain of her past prevents him from claiming her as his. What will it take for him to realise he is wasting time? When he falls he falls hard...

This sixth book in the series continues the wonderful adventure of all our favourites including the couples and the single hotties. The warmth and sense of family comes through strongly. A fantastic sensitive read.

Four more stars!

4 Sunshine Stars!

It's no secret that this series is my guilty pleasure. But, this book might be the best of them so far. While Cage & Sera's book was the book I was previously looking forward to the most, this book didn't disappoint.

Mercer's writing has grown quite a bit in the past few books. This was by far the easiest and best written to date. The plot was a little shaky, but I know she will bring it even further in the next book.

I really didn't know what to expect from Ben and Nicole, but I enjoyed it!

This is a crazy fantastical series that should under no circumstances be taken too seriously. Holy Hannah.

After reading Interlude in this series I couldn’t wait to see what happens between Ben and Nicole/Blush Baby. Let’s just say I wasn’t let down. The push and pull between Ben and Nicole, with Ben pushing and Nicole pulling, had added influences especially with Nicole’s sickness and their age difference. Sure Nicole was young but she had lived a thousand years in her lifetime. What was the thing that finally had Ben make a move on the woman he thought he was already in love with?

As for the rest of the cast from the Rockstar series Ms. Mercier knows how to bring them all front and center with ongoing storylines that at times brings you to tears and has you realizing that family is not always blood but family can be the people who you are surrounded with that love and care for you.

An excellent series that always has me excited to continue on to the next book!

Touching, moving and intense. A little sad as well, mostly this story is filled with hope and prayers. It is a story that has you on your knees, fingers and toes crossed. There is also trouble lurking in the background and that you know is not good news. There is also still some humour when things need lightening up a bit in the form of Xander, even though we know there is underlying pain and the smile doesn't always reach his eyes. I am glad I bought the box sets of this series and I can move on straight through without stopping or waiting for the next book, or at least as far as those written at this time. I am gripped and just want each of these guys to find their happiness, and for the babies to be ok. Fantastic writing and each book is a bit different while carrying on the continuity throughout and without getting staid or boring, I am loving them all.

Knowing I was going into this book without reading the others in the series I wanted to at least read the book descriptions and see what was up with the series… I read over and over again that the series should be read in order… but alas I was committed to read the arc in a certain time frame and I LOVED the description of Ballad so I jumped in anyway! Let me just say I was NOT disappointed! A little confused at times but that was my fault… I made lots of notes on my Kindle and as I go back I know that the answers will be revealed… and believe me – I WILL be going back and reading this whole series!

2 things excited me right from the start! Well 3 things, 3 things excited me: the description! And OH how I love a good family tree pictured in a book!! And finally, a PLAYLIST! YES, please!!!! Hinder, The Police, Tim McGraw, Jason DeRulo, Seether(!! I know the drummer from Seether, he’s a personal friend). I created an itunes playlist and have played it over and over again!

The book kicks off with a gut wrenching prologue and dives right into the story. From the start it’s obvious that Ben wants Nicole but is holding back and Nicole is done waiting around for him to make a move. The scenes with Lucien are steamy and sexy but I love that through the book this does not cause any awkwardness. Once all the walls come down for Ben he’s all in and his devotion to Nicole and their relationship has me crying happy and anguished tears for about the last 20% of the book!

And HELLO cliffhanger! (cliffy for the series… our H/h get their HEA) Do all the books end this way??!! I see on Goodreads that the expected publication for Lullaby says 12/15 and I will definitely grab it to find out where this story goes for the Jesse and Lucy and Cage and Sera and Kennedy and…. I could go on and on!!

Anne Mercier has created a family worth reading in this Rockstar series, some by blood but most of them not – this fact makes them no less committed to each other.

“You don’t have to do this alone anymore,” I (Ben) whisper. “You’ve got me and you’ve got the entire gang here to support you – whatever you need. Anything you need, Nicole. Anything,” I reassure her.

She nods. “Thank you.”

“You don’t have to thank me. It’s part of loving someone and part of being family.”

I think this disclaimer on Amplify (Rockstar book #3) defines this series for me – “DISCLAIMER: If you’re unable to suspend disbelief and escape to the Rockstar Land of Fiction, then this book probably isn’t for you.” I will expand this to say then this series probably isn’t for you. This is HOT and sexy romantic fiction with a neat twist of mafia thrown in and if you let yourself dive in, you can lose yourself for a few hours and read a great (fictional) story. (I added this last paragraph because some of the negative reviews were hacking me off… it’s fiction people not real life. I love my husband but our love story is pretty boring… I wouldn’t want to read it! LOL)

And the Rockers Rock on in Ballad, book 5 in the Rockstar series!!!

This book is Ben and Nicole's book and I just loved their story!! The love and heartbreak they had to go through to get to their HEA was such a roller-coaster. But all this drama made you fall that much more in love with them and made you root for them even more to have their happily ever after!!

While reading this book, be prepared to for the feels, you will definitely have them!!

I gave this book 5 Rocker stars. I can not wait to read the next book in the series...Ballad - Ben and Nicole's story. They just keep getting better and better!!

The story has laughs, pain, anger, suspense, violence, loss, betrayal, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well I was kept interested in the story. I read it in one sitting.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books first.
Falling Down (Rockstar series #1)
Blush (Rockstar, #2)
A Very Xander Christmas (Rockstar, #2.5)
Amplify (Rockstar #3)
Interlude (Rockstar #4)

This is Nicole and Ben’s story. Nicole is the blush baby. She is young but with her illness she has fought and lived. Ben is older and does not want to take advantage of Nicole as he believes she is too young for him. Nicole and Ben are made for each other but if Ben does not step up Nicole just might move on without him. Can he prove that he wants her and will stick by her no matter what? Will she want him after all the back and forth he does with her? You also get to see more of Jesse & Lucy and Cage & Sera. With someone still being after Lucy will they all be able to protect her the way they should? Or will the danger find Lucy before they can stop it? Can they keep Lucy safe, and Nicole healthy? Or is the tour about to come crumbling down from all the danger?

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

I've been anticipating this book coming up in the series. I was so looking forward to getting to know Nicole when the Blush Baby was introduced. And especially her story. I was intrigued very much. And I was not disappointed in the least! This girl, she is freaking amazing! She's had a hell of a life and one she's still fighting for. And she's one strong woman! Even if she doesn't think so. She's lost and confused at first and Lucian steps up to be there for her. Not exactly what I wanted at first but I'm like ok let's see where this goes. Well it got Nicole and Ben both where they needed to get!

Now Ben, I knew he was special. I knew it and this book proved it. He stepped up and became the amazing man that I knew he could be. He was there for Nicole in every sense of the word and never let her down. He is strong and her rock. He's absolutely amazing! And I think he figured it out. They make each other stronger and their love makes it that much more amazing.

I'm not doing a good job at getting my feelings across but this book was kick butt! I loved it and I love getting to still know each and every other character in this series. I can't wait for more!

I do so love the BFD group!!! I wasn’t sure I was going to like the multiple POV’s in this book but I REALLY did. I think in some stories getting an “inside” view of what is going on with one of the characters makes the story flow better and in this case, it works beautifully.
This is the first peek we get inside the mind of Ben and I gotta say, Oh MY!!! He is all that and a bag of chips! The feelings he has for Coley, our “Blush Baby” are pretty intense, but so are her feelings for him. The only problem, nobody is acting on those feelings and it makes for some interesting and uncomfortable (for some) situations.
I was a bit surprised that Ben and Missy never got together, but that was explained and her choices were, well, not smart. I’ll leave it at that.
I have always looked forward to each book in this series and knowing the Kingston Litter is coming soon has me GIDDY!!!
Thank you Anne for another fantastic book!!

4.5 RockStars!!!

Another great Rockstar Read....I adore these characters ...getting to know each one a little more with each book...and this time it's Ben & Nicole's turn ....Took a bit to get there but finally after denying their feelings ...they accepted they can't live without the other ...and what a ride it was...

~~It was too good and I feel something for this girl, something that gets my blood running and tells me my heart isn’t broken.~~

Ben can be hard headed ....and Nicole is tired of waiting for him to get his act together ...Enter Lucian ...I may have a tiny crush on this one ...I loved Lucian ...that doesn't last too long though cause they all know the score ...there is only Ben for Nicole ...and that's all there is to it ....I enjoy getting to know more about each member of this unique family each time I read another book...learning a little more about each one ..it's a real treat ....And Xander ..my heart breaks for him ..I can't wait for his story...Recommended Read!

Ben and Nicole finally get their happily ever after. they finally get together in book 5, not easily. Ben still fights his attraction to Coley, he thinks she would regret being with him because she is younger and has so much to experience in life, Coley has had a difficult life and just wants happiness with Ben. competition from Lucian and her cancer coming back finally snaps Ben into attention and he goes to get what he wants , Coley. Ben standing by her through her battle, their commitment, love and strength bringing them through. plus throw in the Russo/Manzini drama, a very pregnant Lucy and you have some interesting stuff going on. bottom line, family does not have to blood related and this gang proves it. the gangs all here in full force and funny. well written, funny, sexy and sweet.

This book is definitely one that you will want to read the ones before it in the series. If you pick it up from here you will be confused so I don't recommend doing that.

This book is about Ben and Nicole and their road to finding a happily ever after. Ben is not feeling the age difference and it is keeping him from claiming Nicole as his. Nicole could care a less about the age difference but time is not on her side and she is fighting for more than just his love. Will Ben be able to get over the age difference in time?

This was a great story that will have you sucked in from the beginning. I was feeling a wide range of emotions and there for a while I wasn't sure who I was wanting Nicole to be with. Don't miss out on another great book in this great series from Anne Mercier.

I love this series. The author can do no wrong giving us more of these lovable crazy rockstars. The family that has been created by them makes me want to be apart of it. Lucy hired Nicole as The Blush Baby in the previous book and with that comes becoming part of the family. A bond develops between her and all the members of Blush and Falling Down. Nicole (Coley) and Ben have instant chemistry from the minute they meet, but Ben just can't seem to get his act together and show her how he really feels. Nicole isn't your typical beauty, she has things she is dealing with, serious things and it finally makes Ben step up and be the man she needs. Such a great book. Can't Wait for the next in the series.

Another 5 Star read from the Brilliant Anne Mercier...

This is really one of the best series that I have ever read and I continue to re read over and over again because I love it so much.

Ben and Nicole's story really got to me... What Nicole went through broke my heart but is just so strong and resilient... So well written Anne.. the emotions just jumped out at you and Ben... Damn those Kingston Men

Xan my Man was there in all his glory can not wait for his book!

Love that we had POV's from the rest of the gang as well.

And Sera is so kick ass! Absolutely love her and Cage.

And Jesse and Luce are still so damn adorable...

Keep the books coming Anne, you are one of the Authors that I just buy the books without reading what its about because I know its going to be amazing.

Let me just say HOLY HANNAH!!! The next book in the Falling Down series is as different as can be. Don't fret as it still has sexy hotness and the sexy hotness that is the Xander! We still get our fix of the BFD family and a few new ones but less of Lucy and Jesse for obvious reasons! There is treachery and revenge i wouldn't wish on my worst day. I laughed, I cried and even fist pumped at times through this book. But be warned at the end of this book...nope no can't say anymore. You have to read this book yourself to understand!!

Ms Merciers books/writing, just keep getting better and better and I for one cannot wait for Lullaby as I am an impatient b***h!!!

Another great addition to this series.

I really enjoyed Ben and Nicole's story, even though it wasn't all hearts and flowers. Sera and Cage also played a large part in this book and I love them together. The side of Xan we got to see in this book was great and unexpected. I can't wait for his and Lucian's stories.

The only part I didn't love was the cliffhanger ending with what's going on with Lucy and the babies, but we don't have too much longer to wait until the next book to find out.

.......breathe.........Ready for the next installment!

Note: This book is written from multiple characters view points.

This book picks up into the tour while Lucy is carrying the Kingston triplets. You get to have chapters from Ben, Coley, Cage, Sera, Lucian (opening band), seeing many sides of the multiple plot lines swirling around the Tour. Without giving anything away, you get answers, questions, and a cliff hanger. Luckily Anne took mercy on us and we don't have to wait too long! Definitely a must read!

Following this series faithfully.

Been following this story since the first book and it continues to just get better and better. Each book takes you a little further into the families background and consequences of living the Iife style the grandfather lived. With each book you also get the love story of one of the band members. Ben is Jesse's brother, brother in law to Lucy. He has falling for Nicole the Blush Baby for Lucy's band. She is young so Ben decides to stay away from her but he is failing miserably. Catch this book and continue on with their story.
