David's life was pretty normal. School. Friends. Girlfriends. Actually, Senna was probably the oddest aspect of his life. She was beautiful. Smart. But there was something very different about her. Something strange.

Then one day it began. One moment, Senna was with him. The next, she was swallowed up by the earth. David couldn't just let her go and neither could their friends. So David, April, Jalil, and Christopher followed Senna to a world they never could have imagined. Wolves the size of elephants, beings who consider themselves immortal, mythological gods.

Now the four friends have to find Senna and get home without losing their lives. Or their minds. Or both...

In another classic case of not looking before I leap, I read the first two books in he Everworld series. I didn't know is there are twelve books in this series. Twelve. That is ridiculous. I'm supposed to track down ten more books to find out what happens to these crazy teenagers and their friend, the witch? I'm not sure about this.

These were good reading, though. Applegate does a fine job of switching from one character's narrative in book one to another's in book two. That's a neat trick if you can pull it off and make each character as compelling as the next. Apsrin's forays into non-Skeeve narrations in his Myth Adventure series were good but I was just never as interested in what those characters had to say.

Anyway, good books but, Applegate, that was a dirty trick.

I'm gonna review the whole Everworld series in this one review.
I did really enjoy this series. I read it pretty young when I was in a phase of reading everything my eldest sister read. I think as I was a young inexperienced reader when I read this, I struggled imagining the scenes at times because it is incredibly dreamworldish. Or nightmarish.

I loved how the point of view from the characters changed with each book, especially the one with Senna. It gave the series variety and time to really go to know the characters personally. Admittedly some of the characters are a bit boring in comparison to some others, but I think that all added to the enjoyment of finding out who your favourite was and so on.

The whole series was really good, a few books a bit more scarier than others. But all in all one I'll recommend to my kiddies if they're into reading.

Everworld, books one and two written by Katherine Applegate were two of my most favorite books. I really enjoy fantasy novels and this one was especially interesting. In the first book you read it all through David's eyes whereas the second you read it through Christopher's. I feel like this book copies marvel at times and even some other books I've read but at the same time it could just be coincidence that there happens to be a Loki and Thor's hammer. The whole book is about these college students that are trying to get back to the real world but someone is keeping them from doing so which happens to be one of the character's ex girlfriends and another's current girlfriend. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to let their imagination run free or anyone that enjoys coming of age novels.

This is a pretty exciting read, with the fast pace and continuous action - I couldn't put it down and finished within a couple hours. The premise of a world where ancient mythologies, such as Norse and Egyptian, co-exist is quite intriguing, and the first-person perspective changes with each book, giving fuller insight to what's happening. Though the writing is a bit simplistic, and the books are rather short and end abruptly, this only adds to the desire to read further into the series.
