The first book of the Under Her....: Witchy World Omnibus opens with a faux-Penthouse letter about a date with a sweet, pretty girl and an erotic invitation from her fuller figured, more experienced mother. GP Ellison toys with the reader's expectations, though, revealing that mom has darker, far more ulterior motives to bewitching this young man into worship.

I loved that there is such a strong threat to the opening scenes, such a flavor of horror that we have no choice but to question everything and balance our thrills with our fears. In fact, the story continues to play both sides of the fantasy/nightmare divide, with tiny Lee being aroused by the footage of Priscilla using, abusing, and destroying the shrunken young men who came before him. At the same time, we experience flashbacks to how and why she came to be like she is, watching her eat her husband's mistress before dildoing him to death, and then learn how she may be developing feelings for Lee. That sense of the unknown, that inability to trust where the story might be headed, is exciting.

While there are erotic moments of female domination and goddess worship here, and there are sensual moments as well, it was the creativity of the horror that so compelled me. I hate to give too much away, but there is a flashback scene to Priscilla's punishing of another unfaithful lover that gave me chills, shrinking him, and then depositing him inside the same used condom that betrayed him, drowning him in the evidence of his infidelity.

Now, for the most part, this is really Priscilla's story, with her drives, her motivation, and he pleasure dictating every aspect. She is the only character we really get to know. Lee is, in fact, little more than a toy, an object of pleasure. There is, however, a nice bit of storytelling in the third book where his best friend begins stalking Stacy, the sweet and pretty girl who started it all, looking for answers. That leads to some surprises of its own, but I love how the story comes full circle. Some readers may be uncomfortable with how it all ends but, personally, I thought it was perfect - a healing sort of redemption for everyone.

There's a reliable plot line in giantess erotica of the shrunken man and his goddess. The man in this case is Lee, a young man looking to score who crosses the goddess, Priscilla, a protective mother whose hobby is punishing wayward men. Priscilla is an absolute ogre. One can practically see her plotting the best way to grind her helpless targets' bones. Lee isn't much more than a stand in for the reader, leaving Priscilla to do most of the work, yet his devotion to his new goddess will win her over. Within the bounds of this formula, the story works.

Outside of the formula, there's little to say. The last chapter rushes to tie up all the loose ends, with the narrator telling the reader about conversations that characters are having when the characters should be having dialogue on the page. Subjects like Lee's disappearance, Priscilla's daughter, and anything outside of bedroom scenes with a tiny man get none of the attention that the sex does. That's good for the sex scenes, but the plot gets left out in the cold

Still, anyone looking for sexy giantesses and dangerous submission will find a pleasant treat in Under Her Spell. The whole omnibus is well worth the purchase. This is a book that knows what it is, that stands on its own terms, even if the rest falls apart.
