It has been three years since Dalton Altair and Amanda Keane discovered the temporal zoos created by the Kraezul and abandoned on Earth when their empire died. Eight inches in diameter on the outside and two hundred miles in diameter on the inside, each hollow world is stocked with 820 thousand years of life from various epochs in Earth’s history. Declared First Collector by the sentient computer CUSEP, who constructs and stocks the zoo habitats, and the virtual owner of 142 zoos stretching back a hundred million years, Dalton has spent that time forcing Earth to advance technologically in an attempt to secure ownership of the human solar system. Now it is time to travel to Alpha Centauri to see if any part of the Kraezul Empire still exists. On the way he and his friends travel through several zoo habitats and are attacked by intelligent raptors, swarms of giant spiders, flocks of predatory birds, and snakes big enough to swallow a man whole. With a death toll mounting, at the end of their journey the fate of all life on Earth depends on Dalton as he faces an ancient Kraezul Collector who has declared herself a god.
Temporal Zoo 2 Alpha Centauri (Temporal Zoo) is another excellent book by Rick A. Mullins. His stories have great characters, world-building, plot, and a touch of social commentary. Dalton, the First Collector, overseas amazing worlds and embarks on the nearly impossible quest to break a million- year-old blockade and to battle an ancient, evil Collector. There are exciting, creative adventures and characters I really like. This is a terrific, satisfying read. Five well-deserved stars!
