Aiden Walker barely survived the first alien Kaiju incursion in the U.S. where tens of thousands died. A fourth Kaiju has landed in Kiribati in the South Pacific. The aliens learned from their first defeat. Now, Major Walker and his constant side kick, Sergeant Costas, face an even greater challenge with Kaiju Kiribati. The rules have changed and failure is not an option.
So hopefully by this point you have read the first book and you know that the first 3 Kaiju were made of bio (organic) and robot matter. The Kaiju and their built in self supporting creatures tend to resemble bugs (ticks, wasps, spiders, fleas, etc) and ugly and smelly too, as well as being cannibal in nature. And the first 3 were remote piloted, which is how they were destroyed.. only 2 men returned from that mission only to be fast tracked to Beta Team in charge of destroying the Kaiju in this book. And we also got a new character nicknamed “Cowboy” (as much as he doesn’t like it). I was biting my nails and on the edge of my seat wondering if Australia would be decimated or if Walker, “Cowboy” and Mr. PITA (Pain In The Ass.. because he offends everyone lol) would make it! I also read a preview of Atomic Rex which sounds more in line with Pacific Rim and the old Monster movies (Mecha’s vs giant Radioactive Monsters) that sounded really cool as well! I’d love to read it when I finish this series because I just have to know what the Aliens will do now....
Over all, I very much enjoyed this book. I subtracted one star because of the errors in spelling and sentence structure...but that is not a major issue in the book. There were maybe ten of less such errors, which I highlighted in case the author would like me to privately point out. So far as the story, it is top notch and the author does a fine job of telling it.
