Learning to Trust

Megan has left her home behind and is hoping to forget her past. After answering Caleb Williams's advertisement for a mail order bride, she travels to Wallace, Idaho, eager to be a wife and a stepmother to Caleb's three-year-old daughter.

Caleb Williams is absolutely certain he didn't advertise looking for a wife, and he is not at all happy about the arrival of the beautiful blonde woman who is claiming to be his fiancée. It doesn't take long, however, for him to decide that marriage to Megan might be just what he needs. After all, there are some definite benefits to be had, and it would do his daughter good to have a female role-model about the house...

Megan is shocked to the core when she first discovers that Caleb is a firm believer in domestic discipline. Can she learn to trust her new husband enough to be an obedient wife, or will he have to teach her obedience the old fashioned way: by putting her over his knee?

OBEDIENCE THE OLD FASHIONED WAY
I enjoyed this western romantic suspense story. The plot kept the pages turning with a runaway that becomes a mail order bride, but the groom wasn’t involved in the deal. A meddling sister-in-law, some mystery and suspense, crooked neighbors, and a great cast of characters. The dialog is entertaining with a fun story as the mysteries unfold. Megan is impulsive, at times foul-mouthed, quick temper and has a snarky attitude, which lands her in trouble multiple times. Caleb is level-headed, expects obedience, but never is unfair in expectations, just maybe not completely in tune to a woman’s feelings. They have great chemistry together and this story is not overly explicit in sex scenes but has plenty of spankings to the Williams women.

A touching novel that starts in heartbreak causing Megan to have trust issues with those close to her.

Megan was living with her step-mother in Nebraska, who decided it was time for the young lady to marry. Soon Megan was engaged to the new minister, but she discovered her fiance is a passionate embrace with her step-mother. Shocked and betrayed, Megan left home and headed west.

While at a boarding house in Colorado, she answered a mail-order bride ad for a rancher in Idaho with a 3 year-old daughter. After letters, they agreed to marry, and she traveled to Wallace, Idaho. When she arrived, her groom Caleb Williams didn't meet her. She waited in the rain for two hours, before a merchant got her to come into his store to dry by the fire and have hot tea. Amazed that Caleb forgot her, he had his son carried her out to the ranch. However, no one was home. She waited on the porch, and fell asleep on the porch swing. That is how Caleb Williams found the wife, he had not written. But he was attracted to the beautiful young woman, who was both innocent and sassy.

She stayed at the ranch with the plan to get to know each other for a week, before deciding to marry or not. Seeing Megan with his daughter plus his growing love for Megan, had them agreeing to marry. But a church wedding brought out her anger -- she held onto the betrayel of her minister fiance and her step-mother. Her faith was damaged. Caleb spanked her to get her to talk about why she didn't want a church wedding, then helped her work through the betrayal and have a church wedding.

Caleb is a firm yet gentle husband. He sets rules to protect Megan and respect their roles. Having been on her own, giving up control isn't easy. Also, obeying before questions can be answered is hard. Megan finds herself bare bottom in the corner awaiting a spanking, which sometimes included a hairbrush and belt. But the emotional release help her as much as Caleb gentle aftercare.

Emotional story with elements of suspense and murder.

Learning to trust is hard

When you have been betrayed. Megan is a woman who hurts and is running out of funds to keep herself. Caleb is a miner, rancher and lumber company owner who has a three yr old daughter and ha been widowed close to three years.
Thomas is his brother and partner married to impulsive Whitney.
It was Whitney who advertised for a husband for a wife.
I liked that the men were gentle but almost too gentle but it was obvious they adored their woman. There was a bit too much explaining of the same things over and over.
And while one facet, the reasons for their DD lifestyle rules were obvious and explained often, the rest of who the are was not identified.
However the couples were likeable, the story very sweet. Plenty of spanking and euphemistic sex. I wonder if there is the story of Thomas and Whitney. That would be spicy where this one was sweet. Would read another.

I’m highlighting this one for the warm, fuzzy reader. It’s a historic western starring Caleb, as the widowed rancher, and Megan, the mail order bride he didn’t send for but has arrived unexpectedly on his porch, and you follow their journey as a couple. Caleb listens to Megan, they talk through their problems and clear, but not unreasonable boundaries are set. This is an excellent example of a story that focuses on the domestic discipline side of things and less on the sex, it’s there but not the main focal point. Megan is a sweet young woman but on occasions can dig her heels in and drop a curse or two, much to her new husband’s disapproval. I generally like the slow build of trust that develops as two compatible people are thrown unexpectedly together and the strengthening of their bond.

This was a fun return to the old West by a new author. Megan responds to the odd situation she finds herself in a realistic way and the story progresses appropriately. She and Caleb play perfectly off each other with plenty of fire. I gather there is a prior book and I will be looking for it because I know there is a great story behind Thomas and Whitney relationship! This book however can be read as an independent story and was fast paced with many turns and twist. Some you can expect others not so much. This book is definitely worth reading, just good luck putting it down!

This is such a charming mail order bride story. I really enjoyed it. It is well written with an interesting plot and there is good chemistry between Megan and Caleb. Megan is so sweet and loving towards Caleb’s daughter. I enjoyed watching Megan grow as she began to trust Caleb and submit to him. Great discipline scenes delivered with love by Caleb. I would recommend this historical western love story.

Learning to trust

I did enjoy this book it had plenty of action and a good plot. I felt at times Megan's a bit of a walk over, not as feisty as I would have liked. When caleb got at a bit heavy handed she just bent over in submission! I would have liked to see her with more backbone.

Wonderful read. Morgan was a mail order bride and Caleb had a three year old daughter who she grew to love. Cableb doesn't understand woman and he never sent for Morgan. It was her sister in law who thought she was doing a good thing. There's lots of action and spanking a well written storyline. I really enjoyed this book.

Learning to Trust was a sweet mail order bride story with just the right amount of discipline thrown in to make this book a must read. Caleb and Megan have a bumpy beginning with the meddling of a loving Family memeber but their story evolves into a HEA and who doesnt love a good happy ending?

Brought together and have just what the other one needs. Megan is all but abandon and has to learn the hard way about trust. Caleb can see through the fear to the beautiful woman underneath. And together they forge new bonds of love.
