When Lexi Beaumont refuses to marry the man of her grandfather’s choosing, she is banished from her home and stripped of all her belongings. Being abandoned by the manipulative and selfish man who raised her is not especially traumatic—she’s been looking for a way to leave her grandfather’s home, and was grateful for the college education he provided. What she wasn’t prepared for was her grandfather’s attempt to sabotage her efforts at finding a job, nor did she realize he’d hired a man to spy on her. Needing to regroup, Lexi and her best friend flee to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, believing it would be one place her grandfather would not look. She discovers a sweet path to financial security with the help of the supportive and handsome neighbor, who is also new to Havasu. What she doesn’t know is that he’s been hired by her grandfather.
This is such a great book. I really enjoyed it. It is based in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where the London Bridge is. It has a lot of local flavor if you are familiar with Lake Havasu. I especially love the ending but I won't give that away.
Sugar Rush is fun. It's a love story between a man and a woman, and between a man and a woman and chocolate fudge sauce. Honest. The grandfather is so skillful at manipulating his granddaughter that I really worried about her. The hero is supportive and smart, even if he does manage to mess up the lovely affair they are having. And the heroine is smart, feisty and vulnerable. There's some sex but nothing really graphic. There's a lot of eating scenes that are downright sensual. It's a light romance novel with an interesting story. I'm going to check out this author's other books. I highly recommend it.
First of all, let me say, this book stands on its own. It indicates that it is oart of the Sensual Romance collection but the stories don't actually have anything to do with each other. I wouldn't even classify the as sensual in today's terms. More sweet. There is sex but not very explicit.
I enjoyed Sugar Rush. For the most part it has strong characters and a good story line. Jeff is portrayed a bit weak in the beginning but as his actions play out ... he is okay. I never really saw him as especially strongly upfront which was a bit disappointing. I would really like to read Angies story.
I recommend this story to 18+ due to sexual content and adult concepts.
