Wendell has won. After demonstrating Solar Flare's destruction and with Odin completely powerless in front of him, nothing is left to can stand in Wendell's way. His plan is progressing exactly as he said it would. He is making the world everything he wants it to be. With his home taken away and only Dr. Burnett left from the life he once had, only one purpose remains for Odin: revenge. Reflecting on the lives stolen from his family, his friends, and from himself, Odin uses everything he has to strike back against Wendell and prevent him from causing further damage to Odin's world.

Book title: The One: Activation

Personal Response-I personally liked the book even though it was a little confusing since I did not read the book that came before it. The plot was really confusing at the beginning of the book but it got more interesting as the story went on. The book basically says that one teen fights another teen out of revenge and kills the teen with special powers that they both share. Then the still alive teen leaves the world and tries to create a new world only to completely fail and ends up like the teen he killed.

Plot Summary: The book starts off with Odin, Wendell, and Dr. Burnett in a room with a giant death machine. Wendell just destroyed a city with the machine and is now forcibly showing Odin breaking news coverage with his powers. Odin then gets his power back because of the essence that Wendell left in his head. Odin yells at the doctor to move as he forces the debris that pinned him up against the wall out of the way. Odin then proceeds to hurl bits of broken elevator debris at Wendell and the machine.
They continue fighting just as a rocket bursts through the wall knocking Odin to the floor. After seeing Wendell kill all of the soldiers, Odin uses his powers to fly over to Wendell and they take the fight to the sky. In a secret room, there are a bunch of generals that are discussing whether or not to launch a missile at the two. The generals agree and they launch the missile. While still in the air and battling, the two are hit with the missile and there is no damage. Odin falls to earth and survives, while Wendell flies off to save the machine.
Odin uses his powers to see into the past of his friends and “family” to see how each of them died when Wendell used the machine. After that boost of revenge, Odin uses his powers to search for Dr. Burnett. The book switches to where Wendell is congratulating the doctor for her work on the machine and tells her that he has one more thing to do before he can leave. Odin and Wendell continue fighting and Odin keeps throwing. Soon Odin manipulates a cut on Wedell’s head and gives him a stroke.
Odin goes to a dark place where he tries to create a world but keeps failing. He then goes into a new world and the process starts over again where Odin is now Wendell.

Characterization: I believe that Odin does not really change in the fact that he wanted revenge at the beginning of the book and at the end of the book he becomes all “the world will only have order through chaos”.

Recommendation- I would recommend this book to any person ages 11 and up who like to read fantasy books. It has adult language so I would not recommend it to anyone younger. It tells in great detail how a teenagers life is thrown out of balance.
