A colourful, small-sized book, A Naturalist Guide to The Birds of Australia by Dean Ingwersen, is an updated edition. Full of colourful bird pictures with descriptions, and details of distribution and habitat, make bird identification easier. The book contains nine helpful chapters on climate, vegetation, and where to find birds in Australia and importantly, where to record your sightings. Each bird is categorised according-to-type, with all Australian birds listed with their common and scientific names, and red list status. This pocket-sized reference is a handy resource for birders or twitchers, with a four star read rating. As always, the opinions herein are totally my own, freely given and without any inducement.

A really helpful guide. I now know a lot more about the birds in my neighbourhood and it has encouraged me to get out and search for new birds. It's not a book one just reads through and puts back on the shelf. I have read it through, but it sits on my desk in case I see a bird I don't know.
