Mallory Crowe has lived in Michigan her whole life and has been in love with romance ever since she'd skip to the end of every novel, just to make sure the hero and heroine survived and ended up together. She lives with her husband and three dogs. When she's not writing, she's spending too much time in front of the TV, hiking, or working with various animal rescues.

I didn’t care for this book. Everything was very confusing at first especially the first chapter with the wording that the author chose to use regarding Gena’s death. I thought her back story was interesting once it was revealed but it didn’t play as big of a part in the story as I expected it to. It just seemed to be thrown in to connect her and Marcus and had no real purpose in the storyline. It didn’t affect anything and certainly didn’t add anything so I feel it was unnecessary and unimportant. I would have liked to see that explored more and for both of them to come to terms with the fact that she was the same person deep down no matter what body she was in.

Gena was a good character but I felt like there was more of her that we didn’t get to see. She was always looking over her shoulder, keeping a low profile because she’s supposed to be dead but on the run from a weirdo, trying to find out what she was, helping Marcus keep his cover intact, tracking him down when the rebels jumped him, she was just going from one thing to another that she didn’t get a break. I liked her honesty but found her easy acceptance of everything that happened to her and what she saw was too hard to swallow even with her not being completely human. I just couldn’t accept that explanation, it felt like an easy fix for the author to get out of having to write some hesitation and denial of everything that was going on in her life. I would have liked to see Gena having to come to terms with her death, her life, her past, her lineage, vampires, all of it, much more than seeing her embrace everything thrown at her like it was no big deal.

I found it hard to like Marcus in the second half of the book. He pursued her in the beginning and made his intentions known. Once he learned of Gena’s past though, he almost shut down and pushed her away. He gave off mixed signals by pushing away and pulling back at the drop of a hat. Instead of looking at her as a second chance, he made her feel insecure and confused. He refused to see what was right in front of him and go for it. Then, when all was said and done, he suddenly loved her out of nowhere, which leads me to my next point.

One minute he was still trying to process what he’d been told of her and keeping her at a distance to protect himself but close enough to keep her in his home, the next he was caught off guard and tortured and ended up proclaiming he loved her. What? How did we get to this point? How could he possibly jump from being scared to all in? They were reunited, they told the other they loved each other, he asked her to go back home with him and she agreed. It just...ended.

After things started rolling in action, there were some new surprises close to the end of the story that seemed to promise there was more to come but nothing came if it. Ryan was...I don’t know what he was. He murdered her but was apparently absolved of his crime by a certain someone. The same person tried to convince Gena he wasn’t in his right state of mind, that she should be grateful she had it easier than he did since he was wanted for murder, couldn’t go back home, wasn’t fortunate like her to have access to money, and all this crap that makes no sense coming from what type of being this person is. Duh! She can’t do any of those things either because she’s dead, not to mention he MURDERED her, his life is ruined because he killed her in cold blood when he didn’t get what he wanted. Why are we supposed to feel sorry for him?! He supposedly also had a bigger role to play alongside her but ended up being very small. He suddenly stopped being crazy when it was convenient for the storyline and started helping her?

I don’t understand where the author was going with this book at all. Tons of things didn’t make sense. What happened after her murder? Was her mom not planning to ever see her again? Why did Joy never meet up with her? Why did her mom accept that she was alive so easily? Did no one try to track down a murdered woman’s car and her missing dog? What was up with the vortex? Did more people come through? Was there really an army ready to attack at any given moment? Were all of the revealed rebels captured? Is this a continuing plot or was that the end of it in this book? Questions were left unanswered, problems were left unresolved, and the ending didn’t imply whether these things would be addressed in the next book. I just felt so much frustration at everything this book was missing and left open. I can’t read this again and I’m honestly just not a fan of this author’s style of writing but feel like I have to get through the other two books in this series since I’ve already read three. I’m going to force myself to get through them, hopefully quickly.

>Book Review – Daring Fire
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Bad Boys of the Underworld series and ends in an HEA. Marcus is introduced in book one and is shown in a negative light, until the very end. This story is about Marcus looking even worse to his vampire community by going undercover to find the threat to the vampire king.
>Gena thinks she is a human, until she is killed and wakes up next to her own dead body. The story revolves around what Gina is and how she and Marcus fall for and help each other. The character of Ryan takes a strange twist as he is a bad guy at first, but is important later on.
> This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the book 5 stars. There is some humor in how Gena keeps dying. The threat to the vampire king is stopped and explained, but the threat is still out there.

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review. This is the second book in Mallory Crowes Bad boys of the Underworld series.I really enjoyed reading this book. I had a hard time putting it down knowing that I had to work the next day. I was intrigued with Gena and what she is. Marcus was drawn to her at first sight. There are twists and turns in this book and will keep you guessing throughout the book. Gena is strong and courageous which I admire in the female lead character. Marcus is loyal and honorable as well. I highly recommend that you read the first book in this series as you will enjoy it as well but this can be read as a standalone.

This book is a sequel to the first book of the series, "Finding Fire", but it centers around two different characters and can easily be read as a stand-alone. It starts with our heroine, Gena, being killed shortly after the story starts. But she almost immediately comes back to life, with a whole new body. It doesn't have any wounds or some scars she used to have, but otherwise it looks almost the same as her previous body. Gena is freaked out, has no idea what just happened to her, and decides to skip town with her dog. Her best friend has a sister who runs a shop selling witchcraft type stuff - spells and potions, in New York City, and it's the closest she can think of anyone she knows who might be able to explain to her why and how she came back to life in this new body. After a series of several events in NY, Gena meets Marcus (who was a small character in "Finding Fire".) He is a vampire but she doesn't know that at first. The two of them are extremely attracted to each other immediately. But Gena is more interested in finding out who and what she is now rather than having a romance.
So that's the basic premise. The story has a whole lot of twists and turns. We finally find out about Gena's unknown secret. Also, there is revolution happening within the worldwide vampire community, and because of Gena's ties to Marcus, she finds herself getting pulled into the middle of it. This was a really interesting story taking a number of unexpected twists and turns. I was really drawn into all the action, but probably would have enjoyed a few more intimate moments between Gena and Marcus.
Marcus was rather egocentric and arrogant at first, but I found he really grew on me. Plus his physical description was just my type which had me humming. Gena is very likable - she's bright and inquisitive and even though a nice person, finds out she can be a real bad-ass when she needs to be. But characters were very well developed. It had a few spots where it got a little bit slow, but the other parts made up for it. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to seeing more of this series!

Gena is a nurse. When she is attacked and killed by a stalker she does not understand why she is standing and looking at her dead body. She is dead, but not dead. She looks the same, but different. How is she supposed to explain this dead body, her dead body, in her kitchen. The only thing she can think of to do is head to New York and see the new age sister of her best friend. Wouldn't someone who knows about love spells know about these supernatural things?
Hope suggests a psychic might be able to help Gina understand the dreams she has always had that terrify her, but she can't remember them when she wakes up. Hope takes Gena to a club called Fang to get the owner Vlad to help them. When Gena walks into the room with Vlad and some other men, she suddenly gets pains where she was stabbed and is unable to talk, so she runs.
Now Gena realizes that the man who "killed" her is still stalking her. Another man, Marcus, was in the room when Gena came and went. He follows her and watches her get shot. He also watches her push the bullets out of her body and come back to life. Even a vampire like him doesn't understand that one.
Marcus is in the city looking for a group of vampires that want to start a war. The king has sent Marcus to infiltrate the group and stop them. When he saves Gena from a group of these vampires he decides he can use her to help him get into the other camp. He agrees to come up with another identity and money for her is she helps him. Little does he know that when the story of Gena's dreams is revealed, he will play a starring role.
I will give you no more. Read and enjoy.

I read the first book in this series and although there were parts that really dragged, and she repeated herself a lot; I still enjoyed the story. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same thing for this book. Holy cow I stopped and started this book over and over, and finally skipped the last 10 chapters to find out what happened in the end. The heroine was so whiny, Marcus didn't have much substance to her and the dialogue was awful. Every character seemed the same to me. I was so bored. I won't be continuing this series.

AUTHOR, MALLORY CROWE IS A GREAT STORYTELLER!

It has been a long time since I paid $3.99 for any book. There is just so much to read from new Authors that is free or .99¢. I just finished buying all 5 books in this series and it is money well spent.

Ms. Crowe has a wonderful writing style and a great imagination. This series of vampire paranormal romance (I normally don't read vampire books, they are too boring or all erotica) is refreshing and new. "Daring Fire" really surprised me. The twist in this story, I never saw coming and you won't either! Her twist makes vampires more believable to me and explains that......oh you have to read the book to answer that question.

Also, angels are an interesting addition with some interesting information that explains why more don't fall in love with their humans. God was very smart when he made them but it was still another surprise.

I recommend this series to anyone that likes paranormal anything. These books, so far, have been amazing and I am sure I will read them again in a year or two. There are so many Authors out there and Mallory is a Great one.

KUDOS MS. CROWE ON TALES VERY WELL TOLD....KEEP WRITING.

Paranormal Romance. After Gena is brutally murdered and mysteriously resurrected, she sets out to discover the truth about her supernatural background. But when she crosses paths with a sexy and vengeful vampire, she realizes that there is more to her past than she ever realized. Suspected vampire traitor, Marcus's goal is to infiltrate the Vampire rebellion, destroying them once and for all. But his plans might take on a new path as he grows closer to a mortal, who can't--or won't--die.

This book continues the story line from the first, but follows Marcus and Gena after Marcus leaves the king's side in hopes of discovering who is behind the rebellion. There is more going on than anyone realizes and Gena may have great insight. Marcus has a wonderful backstory and Gena is endearing, trying to fight as much as she can while hindered by her human side and lack of knowledge of her supernatural side.

Definitely 5 stars !!!

When I first started this book, I had a hard time figuring out exactly what was going on, but when I did, oh boy ...was I hooked !! I am glad that I kept reading, because the story takes some wonderful twists and turns .
It started out slow but once the story began... It is a story with more suspense & plots and is totally different from Finding Fire ( Bad Boys Of The Underworld Book 1 ) Vengeful vampire Marcus surprised me till the end and I loved the character of Gena , the very strong heroine from the beginning .
Mallory manages to make you fall in love with each set of characters in a way that you will never be able to let them go and forget about . I was attached to each one of them and their journey's. I can't wait for the next book .

This is the 2nd book in the Bad Boys of the Underworld series, when you start these books you just do not want to put them down ! Gena a human is brutally murdered by Ryan who worked with her at his father’s company, but somehow she is not dead, and Ryan sees that! Marcus is very arrogant vampire who is working undercover to find out who the rebels are that want Aleksander the vampire king dead. When she tries to get help from another vampire where Marcus is she is told to leave! Marcus follows her , but Ryan has found her again when Ryan shoots her Marcus realizes there is something different with Gena when she does not died. What is happening to Gena? Can Marcus find out who is trying to kill the king? Will Gena and Marcus get a happy ending? I was gifted a copy for an honest review barwatts@telus.net

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is Mallory Crowe's 2nd book in her paranormal series and it is sexy and thrilling beyond belief. Bad boy Marcus is thrown together with Gena and as it turns out they are linked from the past which is what drew them together in the present. As they try to discover their link they learn of the treachery that is occurring within the vampire kingdom and work together to try and stop it. They are so drawn to each other they cannot deny the attraction and it just makes Marcus a total protector. Mallory always knows how to keep the reader interested with her creative story writing. Her imagination is unwavering in the details of this story. I totally loved it and recommend it to everyone.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book. From the moment I picked it up, I didn't want to put it down. I fell for Marcus in FInding Fire and was quite curious what his story was and I was not disappointed.
Marcus is complex - he hates everyone and does only what will benefit him. That is until Gena comes along. He's drawn to her and he doesn't understand it. The tragedy of the past mixes with the reality of the present and he has to accept and change with the times. Protecting Gena who is trying not to get killed again becomes his mission. In a world of violence and vampires, how do you protect your saving angel?
Loved this book and would highly recommend it. A good and fast read!

It's a long story...how she died but came back. It started even longer ago than anyone could imagine. Vampire war, traitors, and a girl who won't die- how do they all connect?
With Gena, dying was just the beginning. Now she is trying to figure out what this all means. With the "help" of a gorgeous vampire, she has learned there is more to the world than her "normal" life.

Marcus surprised me in book one, but it looks like the "heartless" vampire rumor was all talk.

I enjoyed the ARC of this book. It is a fun addition to the series and look forward to reading more about these bad boys...

I basically inhaled this book! There was no way I could put it down!
Gena works with Ryan ... who used to view life through a drugged haze..
but what happens when he stops...
and he is not even a major player!
See what happens after

Marcus feels connected to Gena ... just wait till you find out why!
Everyone is in danger and guess who holds the key to identifying vampires from another dimension....
So many reasons to love this book!

This book was very good. I loved the chemistry between Marcus and Gena. They worked together to solve their problem. What I loved most about this book? There wasn't a crazy over the top female with a lot of attitude that gets into trouble and expect the male to rescue her. Thank you Mallory Crowe.

Daring Fire is the second book of Mallory Crowe's Bad Boys of the Underworld series. I didn't think it was possible for me to like this series more than I did after reading book 1 Finding Fire but I was wrong. Daring Fire it's amazing from start to finish. The characters and story will grab hold of you and keep you captive till the very last sentence. Gena is a nurse that is forcibly thrown into the paranormal world that she didn't even know existed. Her journey to discover how the paranormal world around her works brings her to Marcus a vampire caught up trying to prevent a war. Their story is absolutely captivating.
It can be read as a standalone book but you will be better servered if you have read book 1. It does have a complete ending but will leave you wanting the next book immediately. I can't wait to see what happens next in Mallory's Bad Boys of the Underworld series. I received an ARC from the author. This is my voluntary honest review.
