This is the SECOND BOOK of a two-part series (The Silver Nitrate series): 1. GRIND 2. GRIT
The book had to be divided due to a high page count. However, the SECOND BOOK, ‘Grit’, is being simultaneously released with ‘Grind’. Therefore, there is no wait time for the reader and no lingering cliffhanger. Thank you.
WARNING: This book has adult themes. Though the author does not consider this erotica, there are detailed scenes of a sexual nature as well as mature content. Please be advised.
BLURB:
Skilled welder by day and drummer by night, Zenith Taylor has inherited a healthy self-confidence and an enviable work ethic from his Iroquois grandparents. Yet, past suffering stops him from forming emotional ties and seeking meaningful connections.
Such as love for a woman…
Enter Silver Faye, a top notch professional with a zesty personality. Recent grief has left her feeling emotional and guilty to the point where she’s built a wall around her heart. One evening though, Fate brings her face to face with Zenith…
Silver and Zenith share a love for repairing the seemingly unfixable. The attraction is undeniable, and as they begin to forge a friendship, deeper feelings set in. The past is hard to overcome… but eventually, long-held beliefs, pain and trauma are exposed, explored, and released, creating a healing that only they can provide for one another.
GRIT is a tale of true love, of two souls lost finding their path, of getting out of one’s way and becoming bigger and better than one could ever imagine. GRIT is a gritty urban love story where bad boy meets bad girl — and they become something good, TOGETHER.
Tiana Laveen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She moved away, and now lives inside of her mind, but her heart is occupied with her husband, two children, and twisted imagination. She enjoys a fulfilling and enriching life that includes writing books, public speaking, drawing, painting, listening to music, cooking, and spending time with loved ones.
Tiana Laveen is a uniquely creative and innovative author whose romance fiction is geared towards those who not only want to temporarily escape from the daily routines of life, but also became pleasantly caught up in the twisted, well developed journeys of her unique characters. Tiana creates a painting with words as she guides her reader into the lives of each and every main character. Her dedication to detail and staying true to her characters is evident in each novel that she writes.
You never know what you're going to get when you crack open the pages of a Tiana Laveen novel; but one thing I do know is that it will be intense, great characters and a story line that leaves you breathless. Such is Zenith and Silver's story.
The topics that are addressed can be described as heartwarming, hilarious and even heartbreaking at times; but it's all relatable. I love the man that Zenith is, strong, loving, loyal and he became that person through the hurt, pain and love he experienced in his life.
Silver's upbringing was different but she too suffered heartbreak and pain which made her leery and unable to accept love at first, but once she accepted it, she was totally invested.
A wonderful read throughout all the heartbreak, pain, hilarity and absolute and beautiful love between two broken souls who found and healed each other.
Tiana writes long ass long stories. She is thorough, I might say: overly so. She invests time in the characters that are like studies of human nature, in writing well-scripted dialogues and she uses a lot of metaphors. But still, I wouldn't mind if she'd occasionally killed her darlings. Her books wouldn't suffer. And she'll get my five stars more often. Because I like long reads, but I want those books to be on point and the way Tiana dishes up details after details makes me wanna skip pages of her books.
Having said that, over to this particular story: I liked the pairing of a Native American hero with an African-American heroine, I liked that he is a welder and a drummer in a band and that she is a game developer. I liked the secondary characters, I like how Tiana incorporated the complexities of dealing with a loved one who is suffering from dementia. I liked less: overused trope. do all books featuring a Native American have to delve into the mystique?
Only Tiana can make me bawl my eyes and die laughing with in a few pages. This book is part 2 of the Silver Nitrate series. Silver and Zenith have been dating for a while. Lots of sex, really GREAT sex. Funny moments and then straight heart break and healing. Like I said in my first review, Tiana writes therapy. You go through all of the stages of grief with Zenith as he deal's with Paw's disease and the issue's that haunt him.
The one thing I thought I would get in this book, is more of a "supernatural" element. I felt like the story could have taken that route. It almost did but not exactly. I really did enjoy this series.
I truly enjoyed this book, I wanted the characters to win, so to speak. I listened to this book on my kindle and I knew it was good when I was listening as I walked in to my building for work and started the book before leaving work. Read!!!!
I really enjoyed this series! This makes the fifth book I've read by Tiana Laveen and I have not been disappointed. Zenith and Silver felt so real to me! If your looking for a real love story with real life issues, please check this out.
Zenith and Silver are two peas in a pod, they are so much alike it’s a miracle they can get along, but they do!!! She is his female version and he is her male version. The characters are frikkin hilarious and Silver and Zenith, these two my goodness will leave in stitches. I love Paw… wise, kind and funny! I admired the relationship between Silver and her mom, I wish there were more interaction between the siblings. Javier hopefully will get his happily ever after. Here is a scene that made me laugh so hard: (Zenith was so pissed… 🤣🤣🤣🤣)
“Oh! That’s my shit!” He snapped his fingers to an instrumental karaoke beat of ‘Sweet Love’ by Anita Baker that began to play softly in the background when the band took a break. Picking the bottle up once more, he began to sway and serenade himself. “Sweeeeet Looooove! Don’t you evvvvva go away, you uh shady ass little shit, tuh-day! Elf King Bastard! You ain’t shit, you know that, mini-man?!” A few heads turned in his direction, but he didn’t give a damn. “I know you hear me, Javier! Of mice and men… Eddie Murphy in ‘Delirious’ lookin’ mothafucka! You look like a bright red dildo tonight, you two-foot tall asshole! You and hatin’ ass Miguel can go eat uh dick! Pimps up, hos down, toy pimp! Can you dig it?” Too damn funny...😂😂😂😂😂😂
Another 10+! I am rating the books together! I enjoyed every page and every word in these two books! Tiana Laveen you did it again the we two books was outstanding! I do not want to tell the story in my review because as I enjoyed it I want the next readers to get the feelings I got! The joy, humor, the friendships the hurts the truths the love and yes the sex! I love every book I have read by this author and I have read a lot! Never disappointed from the beginning to the end! Zenith and Silver was hot and both had a lot of grind and grit! Whenever I finish this authors books I am ready to start a new one of hers! I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
Normally, I read books and don't comment, but this series here I could not, not comment. I've always been fascinated with stories like this, especially when it comes to different ethnicities. This story was not only filled with real-life moments, but it was funny too! I absolutely fell in love with Hiawatha. When he was passing, I cried like a baby.
I don’t understand why there needed to be a series 2, I thought book 1 was 4-5 chapters too many. I don’t like long narratives without verbal interaction, just what’s going on in someone’s head. I had to skip through pages just to get it finished. Hope there isn’t a book 3.
Once again a great story of everyday yet intriguing people. We get to experience different cultures yet see the same pain and struggle every one experience.
This was a good one, but it wasn't better than the first installment. Once again, overseasoning this literary "Gumbo" with heavy-handed erotica and bits of woo-woo metaphysical theology, took away points from my rating. Other than the small amount of lag, the overcooked porn, and the metaphysical theology turned me off to parts of this story in a major way... If Ms. Laveen could just deliver another book with the quality of , then I will be one happy Chica.
Oh, I'm in my feelings on this one! The love, the growth, the support between Zenith and Silver give me hope! The strength that encompasses both of them is a joy to read. They go hard for each other and the ones they love.
The four seasons play a huge part in this series and you actually can tell the shift of each while reading. This author's symbolism is on point, as usual.
Zenith is my new book boo.....Saint is still number one but Zenith made a string play for second!
This book ended a v good series. I'm very impressed with the authors spin on all the subjects she infused in this book. Please keep the great"thinking" stories coming
The plot was great but because it was so descriptive you find yourself skipping paragraphs to get to the point. Both books could have been combined into 1.
