This book is written experientially--story of a woman's entrance into the world of shamanic reality. According to this shamanic path, death and rape are considered the most traumatic experiences one can have. This book shows how one might change their reaction to these things and gives examples of some negative effects that can happen when traumas are not addressed. Very liberating.
THIS IS WHERE OLGA AND I MET...AT HAMPTON HOUSE, IN SAN FRANCISCO. WE SHARED AN INTEREST IN SUPER-LUCID DREAMING AND IN ENLIGHTENMENT...NOT ONLY AS A PATH TO LIBERATION...BUT ALSO AS A LIFETIME VEHICLE FOR OVERCOMING THE TRAUMA OF POISONING...SUICIDE AND OTHER LIFE THREATENING CONDITIONS. I SHARED MERILYN TUNNESHENDE'S BOOKS WITH HER. OLGA KHARITIDI MD...UNLIKE HAMPTON HOUSE...RECEIVED THE BOOKS AND ME WITH THE UTMOST RESPECT...REVERENCE...UNCONVENTIONAL UNCONDITIONAL PROFESSIONALISM AND A VERY PLEASANT MANNER. THIS IS TRUE EVEN CONSIDERING THE NATURE OF HER DAY TO DAY WORK AND RESEARCH AS A PRACTICING PSYCHIATRIST...NOW IN SANTA BARBARA, USA. HER FIELD OFFICE ATTENDS TO THOSE IN PRECISELY THIS PARTICULAR SITUATION. GRANTED, SHE IS NOT THE ONLY COUNSELLOR IN HER AREA...BUT SHE DID WORK VERY HARD TO GET AN MD...NOT ONLY IN RUSSIA...BUT ALSO AGAIN IN THE USA. HER INSIGHTS ARE VALID.
The title of this book can be somewhat misleading, especially if you want to learn more about lucid dreaming. I read Olga's first book, Entering the Circle, about 14 years ago and totally loved it. I enjoyed the story of her first encounter with Siberian Shamanism, and how she got pulled into it and started implementing this ancient knowledge to her everyday psychiatric practice. However, this book is more complex, and it's really not about lucid dreaming per se. If you want to learn how to achieve lucid dreams, this is not the book you want to pick.
It took me a couple of months to read it. I was able to read only a couple of pages at a time. I felt it was kind of dense, so to speak. It is primarily about the spirits of trauma, and how they can be healed through shamanic practices and knowledge. The people she meets in her trip to Samarkand delve into the importance of dreams, their meaning, symbols and power. Yet, they do not tell you how to achieve lucid dreams in order to heal the traumas of your past. The concept is quite interesting, and her approach to the subject and how she lived this experience is ok, but I wish she had gone deeper into this matter. So, if you have read Olga Kharitidi before, you might enjoy this book. However, don't expect much, since the Master of Lucid Dreams is somebody else, not her. Read it thinking of the book more as a personal journal of hers than anything else. I was a little disappointed, but I liked anyway.
BOOK IS REALLY REALLY GOOD,I ENJOYED IT VERY MUCH,HOPE TO READ ANOTHER ONE LIKE IT.I HAVE SHARED WITH A COUPLE FRIENDS AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS AWESOME ALSO.I REALLY WOULD GIVE THIS ONE 10 STARS IF I COULD,THANKS FOR THE BOOK I WON THROUGH GOODREADS FIRST READ GIVE=A=WAY PROGRAM.
This book This book rounded out my spiritual search and what I have learned so far. Not just what I learned while reading but what became part of my reality. The book describes the similarities of shamanism with modern psychology.
I liked the spiritual insights of this book. The writing left something to be desired. The characters were flat. The text was sometimes difficult to get through, because the main character kept analysing every single thing that happened to her, and because the text was often too abstract, and it became tiresome to try to make sense of it. The story itself wasn't very interesting. To me, it felt more as a personal insight of the writer, taken from her diary, than as a published book, meant for other people to read.
I have read her previous book several times over - I refer to Entering the Circle. Her books are fascinating as they deal with what western society terms psychiatric treatment as practiced in its traditional shamanic forms . Master of lucid dreams is a very complex, extremely complex approach to trauma. It merges the shamanic teachings with the science of epigenetics. I will have to re-read this work several times to even get to the point of understanding how these processes are activated. Very intriguing.
A pretty entertaining and interesting read, but unsure of how serious to take it. I'm guessing not much more than Celestine Prophecy and Mutant Message Down Under.
Very pleasant read and well written. I am not sure if I got the point of the book, but there does appear to be an important one. I will reread this and see if I can get it.
I read this book several years ago and just happened to think of it today. As I sit & ponder the reason I might have thought of this book after more than 9 years have passed since reading it, I have to think that it is only to remind me of where I once was in my life. I was lost, completely lost. I was on a search for myself but only found many dead end roads. This book led me to one of them & holds nothing of truth within it's pages. I remember how it's content drew me in and tried to hold me there. Satan is the master of manipulation, who wants nothing more than to distract those who may be searching for truth and to be set free. We all have within us a longing in our hearts. Some know what that is and others may not know but are searching. Along the way, satan throws in things like this book to distract us on our journey of finding the fulfillment and true reason for our existence. This reminds me of the verse from John 8:32 - "You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free." So if you are on that spiritual journey, don't stop here. This book will do nothing more than sidetrack you. Matthew 7:7 says - "Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you." If I could rate this book on a scale of the likeliness to recommend it would receive 1 star for "would definitely not recommend this book". Read the Bible. It is the Living Word of God and within it's pages holds the keys to life's questions, guides us towards a deeper understanding of who we are, whose we are, why we were created and can bring about a change within us no other book has the power to do. May God bless you in your search for truth.
