Atticus Rush doesn’t really like people. Years in Special Ops and law enforcement showed him the worst of humanity, making his mountain hideaway the ideal place to live. But when his colleagues at MacKenzie Security need him to save the kidnapped young daughter of a U.S. Senator, he’ll do it, even if it means working with the woman who broke his heart …his ex-wife.

Lady Olivia Rutledge-Cairn likes to steal things. Raised with a silver spoon and the glass slipper she spent years cultivating a cadre of acquaintances in the highest places. She parlayed her natural gift for theft into a career of locating and illegally retrieving hard-to-find items of value for the ridiculously wealthy. This is what they did best. Sex had always been easy. Their compatible kinks, sex drive, desire to push boundaries, and trust had created a place where there was no shame and their needs would always be met.

For them, the physical had been easy to ask for and give. The emotional stuff outside of the bed had been their downfall.

This was a great, quick second chance romance. Although it's smack dab in the middle of a long running series, it can easily be read as a standalone since the story takes place in the MacKenzie family "world" but not directly related to anything. I've only read a handful of books in this series and wasn't lost at all...and someone new to this world/series can dive in easily too!

Atticus and Olivia had some serious chemistry! I do love me a broody hero, but throw in a badass heroine who wears kickass clothes, awesome heels and is a renowned thief?!?! I was so on board with all of this.

The story was paced well for being around 100 pages. My only complaint is I wish I had more of a connection to Atticus and Olivia's past. Since this is a second chance romance, I really needed to feel more OOOMF in the first time romance part.

Also, this book walked a real fine line with my frustration. Olivia and Atticus were both waiting for the other to make a move or a declaration or ask for more. Neither wanted to put themselves out there, and while I understood where they were coming from, by the end I was skating on the edge of wanting to throw my book out the window at their stubborness when it was so clear how they were feeling.

But in the end, we get a grand gesture and a great epilogue, so I can't be too mad.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book and it made me want to dive into the MacKenzie Family world!

Whew! Robin Covington turns up the heat with her latest book Rush, part of Liliana Hart's MacKenzie Family saga. I'm not a huge fan of romantic suspense so I was a wee bit leery of reading this novella, but alas my worries were unfounded. Yes, it was suspenseful and yes there was some romance in it but this book was much more. Rush is about two people trying to make sense of the relationship they let go as they are reunited to save the life of a young girl who melted both their hearts.

I don't even know where to begin with Atticus Rush although I will say I love his name and his very complex nature. Atticus spent years in Special Ops and now works for people who need someone when things go bad and as they say things have gone really, really bad. A dirty senator's young daughter has been kidnapped, a girl whose crush on Atticus was legendary and a girl who he knows he will save at any cost including involving his ex-wife into the case. I wanted to not like Lady Olivia (Livvy) Rutledge-Cairn, I kind of wanted to scratch her eyes out and I don't know why but even I could see how much she loved Atticus and how much he loved her despite everything that went down between them. Their relationship and marriage was far from normal, but it worked for them and it made them whole.

I loved the interplay between these two, the complexities of their relationship and the fact that despite years apart neither one can forget how the other one makes them feel. While their love was different, it was real and it was absolutely what made them both realize how much they needed each other in their lives (well that and a good stern talking to by a teenage girl).

Steamy, sexy with a dash of danger Robin Covington's Rush was a pleasure to read from start to finish.

As a former Special Ops operative, Atticus Rush now lives in seclusion away from the rest of the world. His world now revolves around his life ‘on the mountain’ and the jobs he accepts as a mercenary. Very few people are allowed the privilege of entering his domain. It’s a life Atticus has chosen, and one he doesn’t plan on changing.

When Rush is asked by Mackenzie Security for help on a ‘job’, hesitation is there. Then Atticus discovers that the daughter of a US Senator – Katrina – has been kidnapped by someone looking for a way to get back at the Senator. Rush’s skills in extraction are a necessity to carry out this mission. Atticus knows that he can’t pull this job off alone. They will need to seek the help of his ex-wife, Lady Olivia Rutledge-Cairn. With a past that didn’t end on the best of terms, these former lovers are less than thrilled to be in each others company again.

With Katrina’s life on the line, Rush and Livvy know that the only way they can pull off this job is by combining their expertise. It doesn’t take them long to fall into familiar ways, and the fireworks begin to fly. Of course, their attraction to one another was never a problem. Now that they are thrown together, Rush and Livvy will rekindle feelings that both thought were best left in the past.

Rush is a novella packed with corruption, politics, and romance. The plight of Atticus and Livvy will pull you into its grip. Taking you through the lives of these engaging characters. Now – I have not read the Mackenzie Family series, but if Robin’s writing is anything like the rest of the series…then I am hooked!!

Seriously – can you imagine writing a novella related to a series from another author?? Robin Covington wrote a flawless contribution to this series, but added her own spin of sexual chemistry with the addition of Rush and Livvy. This is a book you will devour in one sitting, but don’t take my word for it. Dive between the covers of this book….enjoy the Rush!!

Short, sweet and sexy!! Loved this one and Robin Covington bringing her special brand of storytelling to Liliana Hart's MacKenzie Family - brilliant!!

When a young girl goes missing the folks at MacKenzie Security vow to get her back and they have just the person to see that happens. Atticus Rush! For this special little girl he will not only agree to come down off his mountain but he'll also agree to work with his ex-wife! They will both do whatever it takes to get the job done. That's the easy part, dealing with the passion that still flares between them, not so easy.

Great read and definitely one you don't want to miss. I recommend it.

RUSH is a terrific second chance romance with a couple whose differences were too big to overcome during their marriage, but who have another shot at reigniting their relationship when they team up to find a kidnapped teenager.

Former SEAL and current mercenary for hire Atticus Rush is horrified to learn that the young daughter of a senator has been kidnapped, and that said senator is specifically asking MacKenzie Security for help finding her. Well, extracting her. It's his ex-wife and the world's most infamous thief, Lady Olivia Rutledge-Cairn, who's the only one with a chance in hell of locating her. Terrified of his Livvy being hurt, his threat to turn her in led to the end of their marriage, but it's clear once they meet again that time hasn't changed their love for one another.

But the issues that broke them apart then are still present. Nothing has changed, even though the heat between them is as potent as ever. Will they be able to overlook their former marital frustrations and embrace the love that's never waned?

RUSH is a novella in The MacKenzie Family series, loosely based on that same series by Liliana Hart but which features a series of novellas written by a variety of authors. I liked Atticus right away, he was gruff and Alpha and a protector of women and children, even if some of his methods and contacts as a mercenary were not necessarily legal. And Olivia, well her methods were DEFINITELY not legal, but the two of them just worked together. The darkness in them both was soothed when they were together, making their relationship as vital as air. Their chemistry just exploded when they were together, and the sex scenes were spectacular. I'd have loved to read more about their swinging club experiences, in fact those sexcapades could probably be its own book!

Bottom Line: This is one time the editing errors didn't detract from my enjoyment of this read. I can't wait for the next installment in The MacKenzie Family spinoff series. - See more at: http://www.theromancereviews.com/view...

I had the pleasure of getting an early ARC of Rush by Robin Covington. This 100-page novella packs a punch and kicks off a new project within the world of Lilianna Hart’s Mackenzie Series for those familiar with the popular romantic suspense collection. Several other authors such as Avery Flynn, Kimberly Kincaid, Cristin Harber and Christopher Rice are all involved in contributing to the extension of this world and for Covington this book kicks off her foray into erotic romance. The reclusive Atticus is not only forced out of his mountain hideaway for an important case but he is also required to collaborate with his ex-wife, Olivia. A woman born with a silver spoon and sticky fingers, one can easy conclude that the dynamic between these two is convoluted, as you’ll get. It’s action-packed and Robin has planted the seed for more great things to come for Atticus and Olivia. Rush releases February 16 by the publisher of 1001 Dark Nights collection, Evil Eye Concepts and is bound to appeal to lovers of suspense with a dose of eroticism. - See more here

Livvy (Lady Olivia Rutledge-Cairn) formerly Mrs. Atticus Rush, also known to a select few as “Irene Adler”—a moniker assigned by a charmed Interpol agent who failed to capture her. An infamous modern-day thief, uniquely qualified to find the location of anything of great value, including a young kidnapped girl.

Raised with a silver spoon, she enjoys acquiring things and expended years cultivating a cadre of assets and contacts . She amassed her talent into a career of locating and illegally retrieving hard-to-find items of value for the ridiculously wealthy.

Self-righteous, he discovered her identity, threatened her with the authorities.
She left. He filed for divorce. She didn’t contest. Their divorce was finalised on their one-year anniversary. Three years later, they’ve had no contact, but he knows her whereabouts.

“Olivia is in Mexico.”
“You know where your ex-wife is at this very moment?”
“Marriage to Livvy taught me that knowing where she is at all times is a very good thing.”

They are in need of her connections, skill set, ability to locate things on legitimate and illegitimate markets.
“This isn’t a ploy to get me back in DC and turn me over to the FBI?”
“What? No.”
“You can’t blame me for asking, the last time we were in the same room together you planned to turn me in.”
“You have my word.”
“Do I?” His eyes narrowed, not liking the fact that she’d questioned him. “Do I?”

Atticus Rush is a soldier. A hired gun. He’s not a ‘people’ person. He is distant, remote and unapproachable. Years in Special Ops and law enforcement showed him the worst of humanity, making him a recluse.

His colleague, Brant, at MacKenzie Security contacts him to lead the extraction team to save the kidnapped young daughter of a U.S. Senator with dangerous connections, in retaliation against her father.

Katrina Hickman, a twelve-year-old girl, was kidnapped in front of her school. Her father’s been associating with dangerous men, the kind who have no qualms killing a young girl or defiling her. A young girl that hero-worshipped him.

If you are like me and a sucker for second chance at love storylines then look no further for your next read than this fantastic novella from Robin Covington. Be prepared to lose your heart to Atticus Rush. I know I did and I’m totally happy for him to have it. Sigh……Atticus.

“You’ve got to stop treating me like fine china.” “But you’re so f**king breakable,” he said, leaning in to press a hard kiss to her mouth.”

I loved this book from the opening paragraph to the last words. The author has done an amazing job of packing so much into a novella without making it feel rushed or forced. There is plenty of time for feels, action, sexy times and more, all while having the story move along and never get boring.

I fully admit to falling for these characters. Atticus and Olivia shouldn’t work but they just do. For me, the former SEAL and the Lady thief are a match made in romance heaven. Add in the fact they have off the charts chemistry and history in the form of a failed marriage between them and you are in for one hell of a story.

“She wove her fingers into his hair and pulled his head back, forcing him to look at her, the need building in her with each word. She’d missed this between them, missed being with a man who understood her deepest, darkest desires.”

When the fate of a little girl brings them back together, it doesn’t take long for the old feelings to resurface. Chemistry like theirs won’t be denied but neither will Atticus’s protective instincts.
When he pulls a dirty move to protect Oliva and he ends up hurt, it reminds them of why they split in the first place. But when a wise beyond her years twelve year old points out what Atticus can’t see in regards to Olivia, will it be enough for him to fight to get his Olivia back or will it be too late?

“What had started as a simple act of sex was becoming a storm he couldn’t hope to escape. It was ripping every defence he had from his mind and his soul.”

Have the tissues ready for the grovel scene, I may have been a bit misty eyed. Sigh….Atticus. I adored this couple, so very much. This was another stellar example why Robin Covington is an auto buy author for me and will always be so.

Onto the next novella in the Mackenzie’s world. I’m loving these way more than I should.

When the young daughter of Senator Hickman is kidnapped, MacKenzie Security asks for Atticus Rush’s help; he knows the Hickmans, and has worked for them in the past. Atticus is a mercenary, a lone wolf, but when assessing the situation, Atticus concedes he also needs the help of his ex-wife: Lady Olivia Rutledge-Cairn. He retrieves things and people, and she finds them; Olivia is a professional thief. Olivia and Atticus were married for a year, have been divorced three, but oh when they meet again, is the chemistry ever combustible!

Who knew that Robin Covington had everything to become a great suspense author! With RUSH, it’s not a secret anymore! The characters are so well thought-out, so well-fleshed out, that I don’t like thieves as heroes, and I totally adored Olivia; she is utterly delicious: a Mrs. Emma Peel for the new millenium! Ms. Covington has woven a tight plot, the pace is nice and steady, and the feeling is one of sophistication and elegance, in spite of Atticus’ gruff attitude. The cover represents precisely the feeling I got from the book: dark blue with the flashes of light. RUSH is not dark, but subdued with sparks of light, that are mostly Olivia’s. Atticus and Olivia have a textured, complex, and passionate relationship, and I loved reading about their pasts.

The writing is seamless, the author’s style is polished and nuanced, the dialogues are superb, and the sex scenes are erotic, passionate, and tasteful. More and more I’m convinced that Ms. Covington can do no wrong, the more she expands her horizons, the better she becomes. I hope we get to see more of those fabulous characters, and more of Robin Covington, suspense author! A most excellent read!

Atticus Rush is a bad boy who grew up on the streets then joined the military. He's been a SEAL, a mercenary, and now a private security contractor. When MacKenzie security comes to him looking for help in rescuing a kidnapped 12 year old, the daughter of a shady U.S. senator he swore he'd never work for again, he knows he has to take the job because the little girl who used to crush on him doesn't deserve what her father's gotten her into.
He has no doubt he can get Katrina back, but first they have to find her, and in order to do that, MacKenzie Security will need help finding her, and when it comes to finding things, there really is only one choice, Lady Olivia Rutledge-Cairn, master thief, reuniter of objects with their rightful owners, Atticus' x-wife and the last woman he wants anything to do with.
Rush isn't really a romance, although the relationship between Rush and Livvy is hot enough to satisfy even the most demanding adult romance fan. This story will hold it's own against the best of the recent plethora of action/suspense offerings from best selling authors like David Baldacci and Lee Child. It's full of dirty politicians, ruthless gangsters, military tech and heart-stopping action, and Robin Covington has the knowledge and the skill to make it all come together in a book you won't want to put down.
Rush is part of a new shared world series written by some very talented authors and centred around the MacKenzie Family. If Rush is any indication of the caliber of the other contributions, I can't wait to read the whole set.

Rush: A MacKenzie Family Novella
By Robin Covington
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Review by: Candace Fox
I was given a copy for an Honest Review
The Lady and the Throwaway Kid!!!
First: Let me start out by saying that this is a MacKenzie Book thru and thru. Robin Cobington has grasped the McKenzie "feel" and ran with it. It didn't take long to know this book was going to rock.
Second: I am not a highlighter in my kindle, but I found myself highlighting 5 different places. Priceless dialog between the characters and down right funny... I love a good laugh in my books. The ease with all the characters in this novella, including Brant (I know, its Brant, squee).
Third: Robin has a ebb and flow to her writing that makes you want to just read until it is finished. I read this novella in 24 hours, and now I want another Robin Covington Book...
My Favorite Lines:
Rush: "I didn't have time or the inclination to have a Oprah-talk with her about it. We were losing time and advantage and I did what I had to do. I'd do it again and if that makes me cold, then bundle up mo**erf**ker"...
Livvy: "Well, lets get going then. If I get bored I might have to break into you wall safe to save my sanity." The look of horror on his face was worth the price of admission.
I give this book 5 Candi Kisses... Thank you for an awesome read.

This is the first one I’ve read of Robin Covington’s. I like her style.
Atticus Rush will shoot anyone who trespasses on his land, even threatening an old friend when he dares to breach the boundary of Rush’s personal bubble. But when he learns that a young girl is in trouble he drops everything to race to her rescue. He even calls on the one person he’d rather avoid, but the only one with the necessary skills and connections to help him; his ex-wife.
Sparks fly when they see each other again, but the spark was never the problem.
Who doesn’t love the ornery hero with the heart of gold. I’m a total sucker for a tough, big-hearted, cranky leading man. Lady Olivia is not what you’d expect an English lady to be. She drives him insane with her wild ways, risk taking and hot bod. Their interactions are entertaining for sure. The race against time, and the search for clues is a great ride as the story progresses.
I thought the story was fabulous.

Covington provides so much fire in this novella that I was desperate for more as soon as it was over! Atticus Rush is the kind of hero I adore: he’s broody, mercurial, completely in his own head, and 100% in love with his ex wife, Livvy. He’s forced into taking a job that he would prefer to stay out of. He needs to rescue the kidnapped daughter of his former boss, a US Senator. A man he despises – and for good reason.

Livvy comes back into picture because she has the skillset that he needs in order to get the job done. What she wasn’t expecting was the heat that still sparked between them the second they came into the same breathing space.

Rush is full of danger, lots of sex, incredible chemistry and a fantastic plotline that kept my eyes open and had my heart bursting. Be prepared to fall down the rabbit hole – this quick and dirty read causes raced hearts and elevated breathing. Loved! 5 stars.

This second chance romance is an exciting novella loosely connected to a new erotic romance series by Robin Covington coming out this year. Atticus Rush is a jaded retired Special Ops turned mercenary. He has been asked to help MacKenzie Security rescue Katrina, the 12 year old daughter of a shady U.S. senator. They also need the special skills of Rush's ex wife, Lady Olivia (Livvy) Rutledge-Cairn. Rush's specialty is extraction but since they don't know where Katrina is, they need Livvy's expertise in finding things. Rush is not happy about working with his ex wife because of how they split. She isn't happy either for the same reasons. But they do work well together professionally and in bed. It didn't take long for them to surrender to the explosive chemistry and sexual harmony they share. They may seem like opposites on the surface but they are really very much alike which causes much of the exciting tension. This is a fast paced, exhilerating, and very sexy story that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish!

Rush by Robin Covington is a novella set in Liliana Hart's MacKenzie Family world. I haven't yet read Liliana Hart's MacKenzie family books, though I'm hoping to remedy that soon. That being said, I was able to dive right into Robin's story without feeling lost.

Atticus and Livvy have history. They used to be married - and now they're working together to try to get a senator's young daughter back from some very unsavory characters. Robin really turned up the heat in this novella. The sexual tension was palpable right from the start. The build-up was almost too much to bear as you just want Atticus and Livvy to get their release. I definitely enjoyed this hot, hot read. If you're looking for a sexy, action-packed read to keep you warm on a cold winter's night, Rush by Robin Covington is the book you need.

Atticus Rush loves playing the part of mountain man until his colleagues at MacKenzie Security need his help finding the missing daughter of a senator. This 12 year old girl isn't just anyone though, she's the little girl who captured his heart years ago when Rush worked for her father. In order to find her, he needs to contact his ex-wife Lady Olivia and put her world class cat burglar skills to good use. Rush and Livvy need to put their broken marriage aside and find the girl. Can they also find their way past the issues that split up their marriage? I really enjoyed their story and the twists and turns that went with the rescue.

Robin packed this novella chuck full of delicious temptation. The heat level between Atticus and Olivia is steamy hot. This book hooked me in with the suspense and the chemistry between the characters. I like a good second chance romance. Olivia's special skill set is not appreciated by Atticus, but he needs her kind of help for this mission. Being brought back together to work together for a mission the spark that's been flares right up again, but what broke them up in the first place still stands. Can Atticus get past his ethical issues on Olivia's skill set in order to have a future with her?

Would it even be proper of me to say that Robin Covington does way much more than that many of the other actual Mackenzie novels have failed to do: capture my attention with a kind of breezy, complex writing that the originals couldn't?

'Rush' is brief but intriguing enough, a straight telling of a mission to rescue a senator's daughter that proves to be the second-chance for a battle-hardened mercenary and a rich thief or sorts and a do-over that both so badly need. Atticus Rush and Olivia Rutledge-Cairn are standouts in their own right, and as I relished seeing Rush finally get on his knees, this odd couple somehow did it for me, despite their apparent incompatibility.

Rush is a former special ops whose expertise is rescuing hostages. His friend and co worker Scott Brandt went to his mountain home to
ask for help in rescuing his former boss, the US Senator's daughter. In order to quickly facilitate this rescue, they had to contact Rush's ex
wife for help. Her area of expertise is "finding thins"/
This book was amazing, full of action, suspense and great sexual chemistry between Rush and Livvy. Robin Covington brought a short story to
life which is part of Liliana Hart's Mackenzie Family.

So this was another hot novella by Robin, that also included lost love. I love lost love. It also included some pretty hot scenes. And a great side character named Carla. Ok. Carla wasn't in the story as much as I'd like, but my imagination runs wild with this.

I like this collaboration idea. Am author writes a well loved/known series and invites others to build on that. And Robin does it well. Short, hot and full of action!

RUSH! Sexy, bad, tortured, and damaged - perfect alpha hero! Livvy is his total match! The book begins with these two not together any longer, so I was anxious to read HOW they make their way back. Great suspense and action to read as they find each other again. Love the chemistry and HOT sex between these two. They burn up the page in this fast paced and exciting novella! This is set in the Liliana Hart's MacKenzie world, but it is a total stand alone read. Great story!

Great book, liked how Rush and Livvy have a past and need to get by that so they can save a girl who was kidnapped. When Rush asks her for her help and they get together with the team the sparks fly again even though they have been divorced for 3 years. They get out some sexual frustration with one another and get mad at each other a lot! Rush even needs to restrain her so he can go on the mission and not be distracted by her. All for the sake of rescuing a kidnapped little girl.

This is the first story I have read by Robin and it will definitely not be my last.

Rush is a novella from The MacKenzie Family series by Lilliana Hart. If I didn't know Robin wrote this story, I would have assumed it was written by Lilliana herself as it flows seamlessly with the MacKenzie series. I loved Livvy and Rush. Their chemistry was sizzling. The sexy scenes were hot. I loved every minute of this novella. I'm only sad it wasn't longer.
