From Liliana Hart’s New York Times bestselling MacKenzie family comes a new story by New York Times bestselling author Cristin Harber...

When Luke Brenner takes an off-the-books job on the MacKenzie-Delta joint task force, he has one shut down sex traffickers on his personal hunt for retribution. This operation brings him closer than he’s ever been to avenge his first love, who was taken, sold, and likely dead.

Maddy is the only person who can take down Papa, when every branch of law enforcement in every country, is on her father’s payroll.

It’s evil. To want to ruin, to murder, her family. But that’s what she is. Ruined for a life outside of destroying her father. She can’t feel arousal. Has never been kissed. Never felt anything other than disgust for the world that she perpetuates. Until she clashes with a possible mercenary who gives her hope.

Another brilliant novella from CH. Even though this was a quick read not once did I feel cheated, although a full book on Luke and Maddy would have been perfect, between them their demons are huge and I would have loved to see them fleshed out a bit more

Loved this story, my only complaint is that it was too short. I wished it was a full length novel instead of a novella. Excellent characters and great storytelling.

Luke Brenner has an agenda...take down sex traffickers. He has his reasons and it drives him. As part of the Delta Team and the MacKenzie-Delta Team Joint Task Force he gets to do just that. He's tough, intimidating, unrelenting, unforgiving, and untrusting.

On one rescue he encounters a mysterious, stubborn, enigma of a woman that intrigues him. But he struggles to figure out what her part is in the whole situation.

Maddy Mercier is trapped in a life, but has her own goals. She strives for control. Her emotions and desire have been essentially turned off due to the things she has seen. She lives to make a difference, but is in a delicate and difficult situation. She has limited support and very few that she can trust with her secrets.

These two both suffer from pain from their past and have hidden agendas. They are more alike than they could imagine. Their outer tough facades hide inner pain, guilt, vulnerability, and a craving for a real human connection. But they appear to be on opposite sides. They are two people whose lives shouldn't mix and definitely shouldn't mesh. But could they?

She has her secrets and her own plans. He has his mission. It's a matter of duty versus desire. It's a thin line between right and wrong and friends and enemies. But they find sparks and chemistry between them that get harder and harder to deny every time they meet. They challenge each other's sense of control.

Can they find commonality and be able to give into their swirling sexual tension? Are they destined to be enemies or meant to be something more?

I have never read the MacKenzie series by Liliana Hart, but have read all of Cristin Harber's Titan and Delta books. I had no trouble picking it up and understanding the story. Many of the Titan and Delta guys make appearances and Cade MacKenzie has a featured role.

This was a fast-paced and had mystery, action, danger, suspense, steam, and a few surprises. It was novella length, but packed in quite a bit and felt like a complete stand-alone story. I actually was not ready for it to end. This is a good lead in to Javier's upcoming story Delta: Revenge.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

WOW…I am amazed at the remarkable storylines that Cristin Harber consistently comes up with. In her latest released novella, Delta Rescue, she reveals an edgy, suspense filled side in this story as she delves into the underbelly of society. When you think edgy, kick it up another notch and you will have only touched the surface of Ms. Harber's amazingly creative mind! Madeline and Luke's story is filled with angst, kink and eventually maybe, true lasting love.

Smoking, sex-a-licious, and lick worthy are just a few words to describe the hard hitting bad boy, Luke Brenner. The only thing this badass cares about is revenge and finding those responsible for the kidnapping and selling into slavery of his first love. Each day he gets closer to those responsible for her disappearance. Live, work, hunt is his existence. On a mission to save a group of women he never expected to meet a woman that would turn his world upside down, Madeleine.

Feared, respected and hated by all as the heir apparent to her father's empire, Madeleine Mercier lives for the day she can bring it all down. She has learned all the things necessary to rule and control his kingdom. There is no one she can trust, no one that she can turn to for help, she is alone. Until the night she was almost arrested by a man she cannot forget, Luke Brenner. He had a DEA badge, but Madeleine does not believe that for a moment. Maybe he can help her, maybe no one can!

If you are looking for a great read, look no more! Ms. Harber has outdone herself with this fantastic book. It has everything you could look for in a read! Great addition to my library!

In the mad, mad world of Cristin Harber's Titan and Delta, very few things make sense in the logical realm, or at least that's the lesson I've come to learn the further and deeper I get into the Titan books. A mercenary meets and falls in lust/love with the virgin daughter of a far-reaching human trafficker, and somehow thinks there is a common ground between his very unnatural addiction to pain and her own special brand of fighting back against her father.

I've come to associate these peculiar oddities and plot weirdness only with Ms. Harber: there're always switchbacks, unpredictable moves and odd behaviour patterns of the characters that I can't ever put my finger on - and perhaps this is a turn-on for some. Yet the brevity of the book sadly, hugely contributes to the unbelievability of the tale; as much as Ms. Harber's trademark, distinctive writing helps pad the surreal feel of the story, I was left sceptically scratching my head about Luke and Maddy's tenuous connection and a plot so fantastically crazy it can only belong in a James Bond spoof.

I love anything and everything written by Cristin Harber! I fell in love with her Titan series and my love just grew from there! Delta is a branch of Titan, which is just another means for bada$$ Alphas and I totally approve!

Luke is driven by his past to hunt down the responsible parties for kidnapping his girlfriend years ago, and Maddy is driven by her hatred of her father's illegal dealings and trafficking of girls. Brought together by circumstance, these two have instant chemistry and it's OFF THE CHARTS!

Cristin Harber knows how to write action packed, scorching hot romance and once again with this novella she NAILS IT! If you've never read her books, stop what you're doing and #oneclick Winter's Heat right now! It's FREE and it's where all the awesomeness that is Titan and Delta begins!

3.5 RATING- Overall, an enjoyable read. Could have rated higher but I think this story was better suited for a full length novel instead of a novella. Both characters had so much ground to cover before being able to believably come together, everything was just too rushed for me to completely buy it. I liked it but in think the characters and story line got short changed by the novella length.

Luke as one thing he wants. To take down as many human traffickers as he can because he needs retribution. His first love was taken by a cartel he has been hunting for years. When Delta team joins with the MacKenzie team he might finally get his answers. Maddy has a goal that she is working towards. It is not to take over for her father but to bring his company down. Luke must earn her trust if he wants her help. Maddy is a bad chick. I really liked her. Luke was an awesome hero as well, even with the fighting. I have read the other Delta books but none of the MacKenzie ones and was able to follow along perfectly. It is a stand alone so you don’t need read the Delta books to enjoy this one.

Skip this one even if you love everything Cristin Harber and worried you missed an important Delta book.
I finally got around to this book because it was available in the audible escape package and not in KU. I kept wondering if I missed something good because of knowing the characters from the other Delta books but I was wrong. This one was not good. If you want to do a plot like this you can't do it in 100 pages. I didn't feel any connection between Luke and Maddie. The ending was too abrupt. Seriously, what kind of takedown was that?

Taking down traffickers - one day at a time😳

Luke and Maddy, an unconventional couple - one works with MacKenzie Security and Titan, while the other works for the family business - through no choice of her own❣️

Luke is on a quest to get rid of traffickers, one day at a time, when he stumbles upon a woman who doesn’t seem to quite fit. But she intrigues him enough to get closer to her😊 A good story, which I might have read when it first came out, but doing rereads is always nice especially when I didn’t leave a review before😍

Not the best

It's a novella so it's short.
It concerns sex trafficking, and although there is no detail it's still offensive.
It winds me up that an author will use plot devices such as sex trafficking as a vehicle for the plotline.
I appreciate it's a novella, but falling in love with the enemy in three meetings over a couple of weeks is stretching belief too far for me.
I don't think it's particularly romantic.
Given that it's a novella don't expect the plot holes to be filled in.

I am a huge Cristin Harber fan, so of course I just to get this book, even if it was linked to a different series. It is a standalone book, but if you have read the Titan, Only and Delta series as I have, you will see some of those characters appearing in the book.
Overall, it was a great read. The characters and story were well developed and I just loved every freaking minute of it! It left me wishing there was more!

Huh?

It was GREAT, until the end. I had my nose pressed against my ereader eagerly turning the pages just waiting for that confrontation between Maddy and her father, then The End. I know this is a novella, so I knew to expect a shorter story, and I would have loved to give it 4 stars, but the ending was rushed and basically nonexistent.

Wow what a hot couple. They have one hell of a connection. Luke is on sexy man. He sees what he wants and goes after it. Maddy is one strong woman. She has never felt any love until Luke. Could not wait to see where the story would go.

The thing I love to hate about novellas is that I always want more - which just means it was well written! This book does a great job of mixing the MC and Military Security genres into one action packed, romance filled, edge of your seat read.

Again past horrors screw up relationships. Luke and Miranda really are good together and saved many. I wish there was closure for Luke's young girlfriend and Javier's sister though.

I have to confess to skipping this book when it first came out. Having never read anything by Liliana Hart (the author of the MacKenzie Family novels), it just didn’t interest me. I changed my mind because one, Cristin Harber had her own set of Titan World novels written by other authors (which opened my eyes to how this whole “write in another author’s world” thing works), two, a new Delta book is about to be released (YAY!), and three, I LOVE Cristin Harber - what was I thinking not reading it right away?!?!

As with all of Ms. Harber’s books, the story starts with the action and moves at a quick pace. Luke Brenner is a tortured black-ops gun-for-hire. As part of the Delta Force, he and his team go wherever normal law enforcement efforts won’t be effective. When he meets Madeleine Mercier in the middle of an op to take down a sex-trafficking ring, he thinks he’s rescuing her, but soon learns she’s not who she appears. Luke is drawn to this beautiful woman despite thinking she may be the enemy.

The major problem with this book is that it’s a novella. It’s hard to fit in adequate character and relationship development in a short 100 pages. But Ms. Harber does a fairly decent job. Usually her books are equal parts suspense novel/romance novel, but this one seemed lighter on action and heavier on the hero and heroine contemplating how much they wanted each other. Could I understand why Luke felt drawn to Maddy? Not really. But were their times together super steamy? Uh, that’s a major YEAH!

From here on out, I vow to read anything by Cristin Harber immediately after it’s released. This may not be favorite story of hers, but it was still a good way to spend a couple hours!

Cristin Harber – Delta and MacKenzie Family Cross Over

Since I read both Delta Series by Cristin Harber and the MacKenzie Family Series by Liliana Hart, this was a wonderful read.

The MacKenzie – Delta joint task force were working together to shut down sex traffickers. Luke Brenner from Delta Team had a personal interest in this mission. When he and his girlfriend were teenagers, she was kidnapped and sold into sex trafficking. He has been on his own mission to hunt down the cartel that was responsible and kill them all.

On this mission he met the daughter of a cartel conglomerate, Madeleine Mercier. He wants to get close to her and use her for Intel for their mission. He knows that the Mercier cartel is into human trafficking and other illegal activities. There was one problem; he wanted to kill her father’s cartel and his family, at the same time he is so attracted to her that he has to work hard at not touching her.

Madeleine (Maddy) knows no other life and doesn’t know how to get out from under her father’s thumb. But, what Luke doesn’t know is that she is not like her father, and her goal is to take down her father. Maddy is just as attracted to Luke as he is to her. The other thing that Luke isn’t aware of is that she has never been kissed and she was still a virgin. With all she has seen her father do, she has no feelings and doesn’t have any interest in sex. That is until Luke comes into her life. He has caused her desire and feelings for the first time. Is it even possible for Luke who is on the Law side and Maddy who is on the illegal side to have a happy ever after?

Since this is a Novella so we miss the author’s ability to go into more depth but we see glimpses of the MacKenzie family and the Delta tem which is always a nice treat.

Delta Team has joined forces with the MacKenzie family to track and arrest sex traffickers in this crossover novella. Luke Brenner is on a hunt for retribution and his focus is absolute. Madeleine “Maddy” Mercier is the daughter of a cartel head, groomed to take over the family business when her father retires. But her goals do not line up with her father’s, though she hasn’t figured out a way to take him down.

The Virgin and the Commando. On paper, they should be complete opposites, from two different worlds. But where the sex trade has focused Luke, it has kept Maddy from feeling. One would not expect a 24 year old living such a life to remain a virgin, but that is where Maddy finds herself, uninterested in sex or any physical contact with men.I found each character interesting and unique and enjoyed watching their push and pull as they learned to trust, took chances, and worked towards a common goal.

The op that sits at the center of this story is fast paced, cut & dry. Events twist and turn making readers wonder who is the threat, where events are leading, and how Luke is going to untwist from his distraction.

My only complaint is the same complaint I often have with novellas. While I enjoy a story that moves quickly, I miss the depth and detail from longer stories. I wished that there was more to the op, more of Luke and Maddy together (especially at the end) and more from Delta, Titan, and the MacKenzie teams.

As a crossover, this was a purely enjoyable blend of MacKenzie and Delta teams. I have not read any other MacKenzie books, but I had no trouble following the storyline here. Everything is completely self-contained and explained. I am intrigued by Cade and his presence in this story. The MacKenzie series is already on my TBR list, but has been bumped up the list after this novella.

This is part of the MacKenzie series by Liliana Hart

Meet Luke Brenner. When Luke offers to take an off-the-books job for the MacKenzie-Delta joint task forces, Luke only has one goal: which is to shut down all sex traffickers. Luke's on a personal hunt for retribution and hopes to get the answers he's searching for. This particular operation brings Luke that much closer than he’s ever been to be able to try and avenge his first love. Luke#s first love who was taken, sold to the highest bidder, and more than likely dead.

Then meet Madeleine Mercier. Madeline or as she prefers Maddy is the only daughter of an infamous cartel conglomerate. Maddy's family bleeds money, they sell what they call pleasure, they also sell people. Maddy knows no other life and sees no escape from it, except for one. Maddy is the only one who can take down her Papa. Even when every branch of known law enforcement in every country, are all on her father’s payroll.

It’s so evil. That Maddy wants to ruin, and to murder, her family. That’s what Maddy is and knows. Ruined for a her life outside of destroying her evil father. Maddy can’t help but feel arousal. Maddy's never been kissed. Maddy has never felt anything other than utter disgust for the world that she exists in. That is until Maddy clashes with a possible mercenary who gives her hope.

Luke the Hunter versus Maddy the virgin. Predator and prey. When both are forced together, can both of them resist the huge urge to run away or destroy one another?

Cristin Harber is a new author to me but reading this book i'm sure to be reading more of her books. Cristin and Liliana make a good team. 5* book

Lucky 13 rating: 5 Clovers = I love it!
As a reader, I love it when different worlds collide, and that’s what the MacKenzie Family World series is all about. Since I am already hooked on anything related to Titan and Delta, reading this novella was a no-brainer, and I finished it off in one sitting.
Cristin brings on the heat in this one from the first moment. Luke and Maddy are hot, hot, hot! Put them together in Miami, mix in some fast cars, sweaty underground fighting, sexy models, and spicy Cuban food, and you’ve got a five-alarm story!!
One of the things that I love most about Cristin’s writing is the way that she brings together seemingly contradictory feelings, emotions, and situations. This story was no exception, as exemplified by Luke’s cravings for pleasure and pain; Maddy’s sexual innocence despite the family business; and the juxtaposition of the rich and famous with the seedy and dirty in Miami.
I have a soft spot for tortured heroes, so was totally drawn in to Luke and his desire for revenge in honor of his long-lost girlfriend, while trying to fight off his attraction to the sexy and mysterious Maddy, who to him represents the face of evil.
And I couldn’t help but have a girl-crush on Maddy with her cool car, awesome wardrobe, and protective nature. She is the “poor little rich girl” personified, and was so deserving her happily ever after.
I’m anxiously awaiting the next installment in Cristin Harber’s Delta series, and will be putting the other Mackenzie Family stories on the TBR pile!

I had such high hopes for this mini series but so far only the first book in the series has surpassed my expectations.
This one...I don't know I like it well enough but the story was choppy, it jumped around a lot. It felt way to rushed for me as well. I may have liked it better had I read Christin Harber's Delta and Titan series of books before reading this and maybe at some point I will go back and read those but for now I have no plans of reading them.

Character wise I did like both characters especially Maddy, she was born into a lifestyle that she hated and was ashamed of...she wanted to do right but was literally backed in between a rock and a hard place. Her father quite literally own most of the police so getting him behind bars was going to be impossible, and trusting anyone to help was also an impossible feeling when you don't know who you can trust.
Luke not a lot of backstory was given on Luke in this, only that his girlfriend was taken by traffickers when he was a teen. (This is probably where I would know more had I read the Titan and Delta books) We were given enough about Luke to know he was running on redemption and anger trying to find those responsible for his girlfriends disappearance.

As I said before this was not a bad book at all...and I loved the way Cade MacKenzie and his team were woven into this story but if you plan on reading this for future readers I would recommend reading Christin Harber's Titan and Delta series as well as Liliana Hart's MacKenzie series as well.
