Timba and Vati are named after lions: and two black kittens against the world is the pact they make when they are abandoned in a ditch.
But when Timba is eventually found by a young boy, Leroy, he is alone and starving. Leroy has a tough life and that is something Timba can relate to - he finds it impossible not to love the sad little boy and be his friend. Through Leroy Timba also meets Angie, Leroy's teacher, and they forge a special bond - Angie will help him find Vati, whatever it takes.
Can these two black kittens find their way back to each other, and use their cat power to heal the lives of the people they love?
I love a good story about animals, and if it involves kittens, then it’s right up my alley.
Timba is a cute kitten, who is separated from his brother Vati. After being abandoned, Timba finds a new home with Leroy and his school teacher Angie. Leroy and Angie have their own worries, but thanks to Timba they’re able to heal. While Timba enjoys his new home, he wants to reunite with his brother and sets out to find Vati.
This was an adorable story, it’s mostly told from the view of Timba, who shares what he sees and his communication with the White Lion.
Throughout the story, we learn of the troubles plaguing Leroy and Angie, and how Timba helps them. There are moments of humor, sadness, and happiness as you follow Timba, Leroy, and Angie’s journey.
Overall, this is a cute story for any animal lover.
This was quite a lot different from other Cat novels I've read. The biggest reason being the spiritualism elements present throughout, and while quite familiar and relatable to me, others might find overwhelming and/or confusing, so be mindful of this before you dive in.
This book had a great story, with Timba trying to find his relatives, happiness and his role in the world, with many ups & downs, and help in various forms along the way. Definitely a feel good book, showing how troubled relationships & situations can be made so much happier with the love & warm of a feline companion such as Timba.
A charming cat tale about two brothers, Timba and Vati who were separated while very young. The brothers share a telepathic link and Timba fears form Vati's safety out in a hostile world. So starts a quest by Timba that leads him on a magical discovery of himself and the healing qualities and enduring love he inspires in the humans who accidentally drop into his life including a teacher called Angie who is going through some marital problems and a very angry, unloved and lonely little boy called Leroy. Timba touches their hearts in an inspirational way. A must read for any cat lover.
A cute, heart-warming story of 2 strong little cats and their healing love and a cats' intuition.
Although the story line was good, I rated this 2 stars due to the high esoteric nature that comes through in this book. I do believe in the higher level that all animals work on but the intensity of this in the book was too much for me. I felt myself skimming parts of this to get to the actual story.
Timba and Vati were lovely little souls that brought healing to the people in their lives, as all cats do.
Miaou 😻😻😺😺
Meeting Timba in this story was a pleasure. It was so fun following his journey from being a kitten, getting rescued, He was very brave to travel and did that massive journey in the snow in search of his brother Vati who I'm glad to say he found eventually. That was so moving and inspiring to read, and then when he finally came back home my heart felt happy especially when Angie took not one but both of the cats in, and the Angie and Graham were together at last in the end. Lovely happy ending.
A very cute story in which the cats are portrayed exactly like I know cats to behave in certain situations. It is very relatable in that sense. The whole philosophy and belief system expressed in the book I take as fantasy writing (since I don't believe in any of it), which actually did not make for a bad background layer. :) I enjoyed this little book a lot, also because it was well written and engaging.
I have really mixed feelings towards this book. I found it sweet at times and I thoroughly enjoy when books are written by a cat’s perspective. The thing that felt off though is that this cat is too domesticated to be believable. I think even cats who enjoy their indoor life preserves a certain set of instincts and I doubt that, if they will find themselves on the streets, they would prefer going through a cat flap to steal some other cat’s dinner instead of just hunting for a meal. Another thing I didn’t like about the book was the spiritual undertones: despite being all for past lives and such, I think it was just a bit much and it just felt odd when Timba was suddenly remembering his past life in medieval times when Angie was a witch and he was his cat (despite loving the idea and being guilt myself of fantasising about the exact same thing when it comes to me and my own cat).
So enjoyed this book story was gripping and exciting a real page turner could not stop reading loved all the characters especially the two black cats so clever and mystical highly recomend
I absolutely loved this book it really got me through a depressing time. Timba has will power and strength throughout this book he proves as he ages that he's more than just a house cat. I think the author captured speaking through an animal very well.
A nice wee tail, didn’t realise it was a series until after I’d started, wish i had read the others first, still, kept me turning the pages till the wee hours of the morning.
I needed a light read to start off the New Year. I picked this up at a book sale because of the cover. I am a sucker for a cat story. A very fast read.
Timba Comes Home Sheila Jeffries 3 Stars A tiny kitten with the heart of a lion!
I will be honest up front and say that this book is not in the genre I usually read, but having said that, the story is engaging and despite my reservations, I found I kept turning the pages!
Timba, his brother Vati and their sister Jessica are only a few weeks old when they are dumped in a ditch and abandoned. All alone Timba takes the role of leader, and when his sister is carried away by a golden Labrador (with the best of intensions) he vows to protect Vati. They are two black kittens against the world!
When Timba is visited by a glowing white lion from the spirit world, he learns about the importance of cats, and how to ‘listen in a way which is more like touching’ to feel the world around him.
So begins Timba’s life of adventure, starting when he and Vati become separated. As time passes he comes into contact with many humans, some kind and others not; some not meaning to be cruel but just ignorant of the needs of a kitten.
Through all his adventures Timba’s motivation is to reunite with Vati for whom he is convinced he is responsible.
This is an easy read, ideal for the holidays when you don’t want anything too challenging. If you like cats, you will be captivated!
Oh yes; and the kittens names are from the Timbavati reserve in South Africa where these very special lions are protected. Pashtpaws

Bullet review: +Neat, well-written main characters with good character development. +Timba is a likable character. I also liked his brother, Vati. Angie also wasn't bad. +I was thoroughly invested in the story and where things were going next. -The relationship drama between Angie and her partner was a bit uninteresting to me and I didn't like the conclusion of this arc. -Leroy's mother just kind of vanishes from the story after a while and this was unsatisfying to read and honestly felt like a bit of a copout. She was a major villain in the first part of this book, so for her to suddenly vanish while getting no further attention or comeuppance for her actions felt a bit like a loose end the story didn't tie up.
Little funny, heart warming book. The story is written from the point of stray little black kitten, which over the time grows up and becomes young adult cat. It was a very interesting writing. Being dogs and cats lover, I could only imagine how the small one suffered at times. I would recommend for anyone who has compassion for animals. And for anyone who wants to understand how their healing influence is important in our lives.
