Feisty twenty-four year old Holly, or Miss Greedy as her friends call her, receives a wooden cube as a gift from an enigmatic elderly lady who happens to be her mother’s new neighbour in Lossiemouth, a small Scottish fishing town.
What she doesn’t expect, is for the cube to contain Blayne, a Spirit of Saoradh only she can see and touch. Blayne is a playful, headstrong ghost with no recollection of his human past and an ability to grant Holly’s wishes whenever she calls for him — as long as said wishes don’t raise any questions from the public that is. So a shiny new car might be out of the question, but the possibility of a flat stomach, a consistently spotless house or a perfect daily hairstyle more than make up for it.
Through their incessant banter, Holly and Blayne grow closer while fighting against their mutual attraction since they have no possible future together.
But when the painful reality of Blayne’s existence is revealed, Holly will realize that it’s not always the girl who needs to be saved.
Born in France, I studied hotel management before spending a couple of years in England, Ireland and Belgium. In 2001, hubby and I settled close to the Loch Ness monster in the Highlands of Scotland, and soon, two children and one dog joined us.
Dramatic scenes are my favourite to work on, which is perhaps a reminiscence of those teenage years when every single ones of my stories had to end in epic tragedy (Shakespeare had nothing on me). Thankfully, these days, I veer towards the happy-ever-after finale set in a glorious orange and red sunset.

This book was such a pleasant surprise. I liked the sound of the original premise, I haven't read many books about spirits/ genie's, so the blurb made me curious and I eventually decides to give this book a try. And I am glad I did as it was an enjoyable read. It gives a original twist to the genie genre and while it could be a tad predictable at times, there were some twists I didn't see coming as well. The author has a nice writing style and once I picked up the book I got easily lost in the pages of this book and read it in a few days. The pace was nice and I enjoyed the general plot. I also liked the setting in Scotland and I could visualize the place pretty well.
While the series title and blurb mentions Spirits, they are similar to genie's in that they can fulfill wishes. There are enough different things as well, but basically the spirits are ghosts or souls that only their bound human can see and they fulfill wishes for their bound human. While it might sound like a lot of the focus would be on that, it's first a romance story and that's what get's most attention.
While overall I really enjoyed this book there were a few things about the story and plot that bothered me. First the frequent mentions of torture. Luckily there weren't much details and the one scene that went a bit into depth I could easily skip. But it still made me feel uncomfortable, I sort of got the reasoning behind it, but I still didn't like it. Torture scenes are just one of those things I can't stomach. Then there were a few plot twists towards the end that I didn't really care for. And the way it resolved things at the end I wasn't 100% happy with. There was also a thing concerning Blayne's past that got resolved a bit too easily and I would've liked to have that get resolved a bit slower over the course of the book.
I liked Holly the main character, she was an interesting character. Some bad events in her past, two slightly pushy friends who cared about her a lot, her mom who was always cooking and her love for pancakes. This book made me hungry with all the mentions of pancakes, yum! Holly was a very sweet and caring person and that really showed in her interactions with Blayne. While Blayne is basically her slave, she tries to make this life better and gives him some freedom.
As this is a romance the focus is mostly on Holly and Blayne, the other side characters stay a bit more towards the background. I kept confusing Holly her two friends, I couldn't remember who was who at times. And thought they were a bit pushy at times, which rubbed me wrong especially during one scene, but I could also see how much they cared about each other and there are some scenes that really show that too. I liked Holly her mom, while we don't get to learn a lot about her, I did like her and the part she played in the book.
The romance was done well. They get to know each other and slowly fall in love. There was a lot of build-up and banter and I liked these two together. They have some nice chemistry as well and there are a few very sweet scenes as well. Their relationship is pretty unconventional with how he's a spirit and she's a human, but I liked how they tried and make it work.
I already emphasized earlier that this is a romance story first and the world building is one of those things that illustrate that fact as well. While I liked the original concept of genie and twists this book added I also wanted more. I wanted to know what the limits were of the wishes and I wanted to see Holly use those wishes to make her life better. Even with small wishes there is so much she could do and wish for. I just thought this could've been explored a bit more. Then there a re a few things that remain unclear like who turns into a spirit, who the Judge is and The Punisher. And it bothered a me a bit that no one ever explained the rules and such to Holly and she didn't seem to ask. I mean if you suddenly hear you got a magical genie who can fulfill your wishes you would be curious how that works and why, right? I just wanted to know a bit more about how the whole paranormal aspect worked.
To summarize: I really enjoyed this book and easily got lost into the pages while reading. It was a well written and original story. Holly is a great main character, compassionate, friendly and she loves pancakes. The side characters stay a bit to the background, but I didn't mind too much as the focus was mostly on the story and the romance. The romance was well done, Blayne and Holly made for a great couple and it was obvious how much they cared for each other. I did have some small issues with the mentions of torture, the plot twists towards the end, how Blayne's past got resolved and the world building. I would've liked to learn a bit more about how the whole genie and wishes thing worked. All in all I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to see what this author writes next!
Forever Hers is a delightful paranormal romance about a woman whose life was forever changed when she was gifted with a wooden cube by an old lady who was her mother's new neighbor. It was no ordinary wooden cube as it contained a Spirit of Saoradh who goes by the name of Blayne and he has the ability to grant any of Holly's wishes, that was, within reason.
While Holly and Blayne didn't get along at first, their fights turned into banters and their attraction for each other grew stronger and they couldn't fight it even if they knew any future together was impossible.
First of all, I thought the blurb was definitely eye-catching. It was an interesting concept. I haven't come across genie-type Heroes in PNR, or I haven't read my good share of PNR yet. Either way, I was intrigued.
The story overall was great. I thought it was very well-written and I really enjoyed banters between Holly and Blayne. Definitely, I was entertained. It was an easy read and I highly recommend this to readers of PNR who prefer the "softer" side of it. To me it definitely gave off the NA vibe. Could be just me too.
I couldn't really decide if I like Holly or not. She comes off as a bit immature to me, a bit selfish at first, and not so put together. But by the time I reached the end of the book, I decided that she wasn't so bad after all. Blayne on the other hand... Come to think of it, I feel exactly the same about Blayne.
I felt that the ending was perfect too. :)
My only reservation about this book is merely the layout of it. The POVs of the H/h gets mixed up in paragraphs and confuses me for a second.
But overall, it was good and I liked it.
This copy was provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
The first thing I have to say is WOW! I was gripped from the very moment Blayne appeared in Holly's bedroom. Their chemistry was undeniable from the get go and led to some very funny, sweet and sexy moments. Their playfulness added a cute and lighthearted twist and allowed me to fall into their story effortlessly.
The France trip was a lovely touch and allowed a good time for Holly & Blayne to explore each other, it was certainly one of my favourite parts of the story and showed how they were totally in sync.
It had me big time on Holly's accident that I had to put my ipad down for a brief moment to compose myself, between holding back escaping tears and screaming in my head for someone to help I knew that in that moment Blayne would sacrifice their bond to save her. It didn't help my emotions at the time but it certainly had me on the edge of my seat to find out if she would eventually remember him.
Blayne's back story was a great touch and really showed the reason why he was in the Void and how he struggled with the guilt of what he had done. It also provided clarity on his quick and strong temper.
The ending was perfect and even to the very last word I was right there with them clinging to the hope that they would meet and just like serendipity and fate they did.
I definitely think I would love to read more from the other spirits and their human bonds, it certainly has the potential for a whole series of books based on these characters.

I have been a bit behind in getting some of these reviews out, sometimes I get excited and read the new books on the list instead of reading the ones that I have had for a while. So this last week, I have been working on reading and catching up on my review list. Trying to clear it out before accepting any more books. So this is a bit late, you will have to forgive me.
I do have to say I have no idea where to start on this book. What I do know is that I loved it and I had only one issue with the book. After finding out what her ex did to her you would think she would at least have some issues but she doesn’t. I mean I didn’t see that coming. Now it does have multiple povs (but at this point I am getting pretty use to that). I think the writer does a great job on emotions with other things in this book, I kept getting goosebumps in certain part along with giggling and blushing like a school girl.
My favorite thing about Holly, is how she uses her wishes. She is a girl after my own heart, I couldn’t help but laugh when she started wishing for food. I mean who does that? I know I would, but mainly because I love food with a passion. My fiance likes to say I live to eat instead of eating to live (Its suppose to be some saying), If I could have wishes granted I would totally wish for yummy stuff to eat. Now I may not pick pancakes since I love waffles, but having waffles at any time would be nice. I think that Holly was very adorable, I would be great friends with her in real life.
I liked Blayne, he seemed so sweet. It seemed like the humans before Holly treated him like crap. So I was glad that she treated him so well and thought about him more than anyone else had. I found him very charming and funny, if I could I would just wrap my arms around him and keep him all to myself. He has been through some shit, and he has been running from it for too long.
In the end, this book is not your typical ghost romance book; Instead, this spirit grant wishes and the female is saving the male character. Personally, I love when they do that in books, it’s so much fun for me to read about a strong female character saving her man or saving the day. Short story~ I love strong female characters.

Description taken from Amazon.
The Best Parts: The essence for what this novel was was very refreshing. It was something that I hadn’t read or thought of before so reading it was twists and turns every where that had me second guessing everything. I loved that. The relationship between Holly and Blayne was a fun one to read. It started out as enemies, then friends and then blossomed into something so much more. The act of sacrifices helps shows not just the characters, but the readers just how love should work. That you shouldn’t just make the sacrifices for the one you love, but they must do the same in return.
The paranormal aspects to this book were very new to me. The spirits and their part in this world was new and the hierarchy makes me wonder what else is in store for this series.
P.s. - hate to say this, but LOVE Kade ;]
The Worst Parts: Now there were a few things about this book that hindered the reading process for me. It wasn’t content, well some of it was unintentionally content, but most of it was style. There were lots of descriptions and story telling here, but no breaks. It made it difficult to keep in line with what was happening when it just switched gear the next paragraph. We are told in great detail what is happening, which can sometimes be seen as showing, but with the jumping it brings you out of the scene for too long to get back in. I found myself skimming in a few sections that jumped too much just so I could get a grip on what was happening.
When I said content was unintentionally affected I mean during the sex scenes. There is so much jumping that you aren’t able to see the movements. I don’t know how they got into the position they were in until they are there. It was like magic, but it wasn’t actual magic, just missing a step.
Final Thoughts: I really did like this book. It has a low review because of the style of writing and with that it took me quite a while to finish it. If there was more of the insightful detail to the actions I think it would have flowed better and it would have kept my interest longer.

Forever Hers by Caroline Cairn is the first in the Spirits of Saoradh series. This story focuses on Holly and Blayne. We open with a funeral for Maxim, a man who practically raised Holly when her own father abandoned his family. There’s more to Max than even Holly knew, and when an elderly lady named Adelaide shows up to give Holly a special box Max left for her, strange things begin happening.
Max was a Keeper for special boxes that hold spirits of Saoradh. Keepers deliver boxes to chosen humans, and bind the human and spirit together. Once bound, the spirit must obey the human, and must grant wishes so long as they fall within certain parameters. Wishes cannot draw undue attention for one.
Spirits have a host of rules they must obey, and if they transgress, the Judge and the Punisher pay them a visit. It is the hope of Keeper and Judge that the spirit can find redemption in the hands of their human, but neither can really help the bonded pair, and a spirit may have many humans before that happens.
Fun stuff: this was a quick read. It flowed well, and the characters had appropriate depth. Romance of any flavour is rare for me to read, but I quite enjoyed this book. I loved the interactions between Holly and Blayne when they were first getting used to one another. I also really liked Adelaide and Kade, even after I learned Kade’s secret. Adelaide comes across as an absent-minded old lady, but she’s far shrewder than she appears.
I love the phrasing to be found scattered through this novel, like gems to be collected and savoured. It’s word-painting at its finest. Ex- ‘Further away, the waves were shattering in millions of white, thunderous tears, the current cruel and implacable.’
Water seems to be a big theme. From rain to ocean, there are numerous mentions, and very special connections with Blayne. This seemed very appropriate. Water in motion is cleansing; water is a visceral, vivid physical representation of our inner emotions. It seems to be in relation to Holly’s feelings, uncertainties, hopes.
Not so fun stuff- Blayne seems so sad, to have once been human and now bound in a box as a spirit, and handed over to a human ‘caretaker’ for whom he must grant wishes. It smacks too much of slavery to me and I was desperate to know why. That ‘why’ turns out to be an integral part of the story, so I got the gratification of an answer. Still, my heart hurt for Blayne, to be in such a situation.
On a different note, the manuscript could benefit from another proofing. Not many errors though, and not too noticeable. Certainly not enough to have detracted from my enjoyment. Big thing- calling the cottages by name, not always capitalising the word cottage, or by making the first name possessive. Whale Cottage- Whale cottage- Whale’s cottage. Also, at wedding, when Blayne is exploring, there is a sentence starting with ‘His curiosity picked…’ Homophone error, should be piqued.
I highly recommend Cairn’s Forever Hers if you enjoy paranormal romance.
(PureTextuality.com)A Genie in a bottle? That is pretty much what I thought I was getting with this read. I sort of got that, but I also got a good romance, as well. And no he’s not a Genie, and there’s no bottle rubbing going on either! Lots of wishes are happening though.
Holly has just lost the next door neighbor, Max, that she grew up adoring. When she is given a box at the funeral by a lady that has already moved into Max’s house, she is pretty surprised. It’s just a small wooden box. Once she gets it back to her mother’s home, she is shocked when a gorgeous man pops up in her bedroom. He’s a spirit, not a Genie, but now he is bound for life to Holly. Holly can’t believe that now she can wish for things and Blayne can make them happen-within reason of course. Nothing that will cause outsiders to question, but having a flat stomach is definitely doable. And never having to clean the house again is a bonus.
I enjoyed Blayne as a character. He has no memory of his life before he died, but does know that he is over a hundred years old and has been bound at least two other times. He’s got a fun personality and enjoys floating around in the air and hanging upside down. Holly, I wasn’t as sure about, in the beginning especially. She’s a bit greedy-but then most people would be when faced with so many possibilities for wishes. She’s been hurt and quite recently, by a man that she didn’t know was a womanizer and a liar. Blayne does have fun with some revenge against him! In the end, I did like her better the farther I got into the read.
The premise surrounding Max as a Keeper of Spirits was pretty unique. And the world building of the dark place where Blayne has to stay when he is in the box was even more unique. There’s a couple of pretty horrible villains that live in that world as well. They make Blayne follow strict rules and when he doesn’t, he is punished and the punishment is torture. That part took away from the feel good vibe of the book for me. It’s not easy being a spirit that needs to find atonement for something bad he did back in his former life-especially when he can’t remember what he did.
Of course, this ends up being a romance, and it actually was a pretty sweet one. There are major problems of course, seeing as how Blayne is dead. I did enjoy the way the author was able to keep the reader guessing about if we were going to get a happily ever after and if so, how she was going to take the reader to that point.
Good romance, unique premise and world building(limited to the dark place), and fairly good characters, made this a mostly good read for me. I would recommend this to adult paranormal romance readers or young adults ages 16 plus.

Forever Hers isn’t your typical paranormal romance…it’s more.
Holly gets binded to Blayne (a kind of ghost/genie) without her knowledge, but it doesn’t take long for her to get used to having him around, at least not after she accepts the fact that she’s not hallucinating. She is a little creeped out by him doing ghost things like floating and hanging around upside down, but when he acts more human she’s drawn to him as if he were one.
“Was she so sexually frustrated her mind had created a handsome guy just for her? Because if it was the case, thank you mind, you did a good job.”
Blayne has been bound for a long time. He’s had a few masters…all of who slowly forgot about him or no longer needed him, leaving him to the oblivion he was sent to. Holly is different. She doesn’t treat him like the slave his shackles say he is. She treats him like a friend and even though there can never be more that friendship blossoms into something even they don’t fully understand.
“The memory of her kiss was both bliss and torture. It had been so fast, he’d had not time to enjoy her lips, and notice if they tasted sweet. God, he wanted her.”
If you’re looking for a passionate romance with a happily ever after ending this isn’t exactly the book for you, but if you want a sweet torment then this is definitely a good read. The things Blayne has to suffer because of his desire to make Holly happy are horrible. And the ends Holly will go to ensure Blayne’s health and happiness are limitless. But there’s a twist at the end that will both clench your heart and make you smile.
“How he wanted to hug her and keep her there safe in his embrace. But a puppet could never break its strings and offer anything else than entertainment and compliance to their master. So he just sat at her feet like a faithful dog.”
My Favorite Gut-Wrenching Heartfelt Moment: When Holly pleads with him to save himself I could almost feel her pain. It was definitely a powerful moment in the story and one of my favorites.
What a good way to start the new year!! This was such a good book!! I expected I'd like it, but not as much as I did. I literally got this done after two sessions (the first time I had to go back to work - boo!).
Holly is given an amazing gift after her kindly neighbor passes away: a "genie". However, this is no a-typical "genie". He is technically a spirit who is being punished for his past life, they are bonded for life (unlimited wishes!), he is hot, he is not the only one, and he needs to be saved.
Poor Blayne...poor Holly. They both had some major rough patches and they certainly needed each other to move past their past. Especially Blayne.
I really did love this concept and the characters. At first I wasn't a huge fan of Blayne, but he certainly did make me warm up to him. I think Holly felt the same way. It wasn't insta-love, which I'm glad for. Yes, there was some lust there, but the love took some time to grow. Good...because both parties had some major issues to deal with, so love wasn't on the top of their to-do lists.
My only issue with the book was the format of the switching POVs. Sometimes I didn't expect it and it would confuse me. Other then that, I adored this book.
In the end, I highly recommend this book to those that like PNRs or need something different on their list. I liked the characters, the story was unique, I could hardly put it down, and the ending was good. There were a couple parts that confused me, because the POV change just randomly happened mid paragraph. When is the next book coming out in the series?? So excited! Out of five stars, I stamp this with....mmmmmm.....ummmm....5 stars.

In a genre filled with super Alpha males and damsels in distress we meet Holly and Blayne. Holly is a human mourning the death of her long time neighbor and father figure, Max, when a mysterious old woman gives her a “Magic” box saying that Max wanted her to have it. Blayne is the spirit that lives in the box and only Holly can see and hear him. Hilarity ensues upon their first meeting and quite a few times later when Blayne pops up uninvited. As the book continues there are enough twists and turns to keep any reader on their toes.
This is not your typical paranormal romance novel. The book completely blew me away. I have not read anything like this before and I absolutely loved it. The whole idea behind the story is new and refreshing and I couldn’t put it down. The book is well written with characters that jump off the page. I wish I could explain more about what I love about this book but then this review would be nothing but spoilers, and I just don’t do spoilers.
Overall this book is fantastic. As a first time author I really think Ms. Cairn has done an excellent job and I can’t wait to read more of this series. I would definitely recommend this book to all lovers of PNR.

Forever Hers is the first book in the Spirits of Saoradh series of books. This book is about Holly. It starts out with Holly attending the funeral of her close friend Max, a neighbor of her mothers who acted as a dad while she was growing up. This is the day that Holly’s life is changed forever. Holly meets Adelaide who gives Holly an Eintridh, a magical wooden box as a last gift from Max. Adelaide also makes a motion over Holly’s eye and tells her that is the key to the box. There is a letter with the box as well, telling Holly that the box is magical and only Holly will be able to open it and that her eye is the key. When Holly and her mother trying to figure out the box it just looks like a wooden cube. While her mother is around nothing happens but as soon as Holly is alone, something happens! That is when Holly meets Blayne. Blayne is bound to the box and can grant Holly small wishes but no one else can see or hear him. Now life is going to get very interesting for Holly.
This book is awesome!! I started reading this book and the characters seem to develop really fast and I found myself having problems putting the book down. The story moved along fast and I really enjoyed it. I think anyone who likes romances, or paranormal stories of any kind would really enjoy this book. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
I’m giving this book 5 fangs.

REVIEW New to me author.
Holly was handed a box at the burial of her dear Maxim. With the box came a letter for her. She read and was shocked to find it said the box was magical. Adelaide the older woman who delivered the box is hesitant about giving Holly information but feeds her just enough. Adelaide also lets her know she has been gifted the cottage of Maxims so she will be Hollys new neighbor.
Holly has no idea what the box is for but is in for a shock or two. A man who just suddenly appears along with markings on the box and the shock? Only she can see and hear him. Her mother doesn't see anything. What in the world is going on? Well Adelaide knows but is she going to tell Holly? Blayne? is his name and he is a spirit? Oh boy !
This book kept me reading it because the story builds and builds and you just need to know more. If you like spirits, ghosts, mystery and suspense well grab your copy and get reading. The plot and characters were all well written. The book could use a bit more editing or proofing however.
I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.
Forever Hers. This is one of those books which evoke literal feelings in me as the characters went through a rollercoster of emotions themselves. The concept was really nice with a twist which I personally liked a lot. Holly seemed like an egoistic girl in the beginning, but that was before she revealed her true being in the little things she did for Blayne. And Blayne on the other hand, no matter how much I say about him, it will never be enough. The way his emotions and feelings were said made me swoon over him in every page and his pain and agony throughout the book, specially in the ending chapters made a lump in my throat that I could do nothing about, except try not to cry. I will end this by saying that Blayne made it to my very high in my list of book boyfriends! ❤️ Other characters in the book like Adelaide and Kade were written really well, and the twist with Kade left me surprised, which I loved. All in all this is an amazing book which I can't thank the author enough for giving me a chance to read and review. Note to the author: Please continue writing more stories like this and I promise to be the eternal reader of your books! Wink wink
Forever Hers was an enchanting and frustrating read. I loved the characters, the story, and the twists. There are some things you just never see coming.
Holly has loved and been beaten down by it. The father like figure in her life has recently passed and her romantic life is a bust what is love any way? All of that will soon change when a stranger gives her a gift she never thought possible. Blayne and Holly's love story was intense and frustrating to say the least. I could not put the book down always hoping the next chapter would be tbe chapter they finally figured it out. Then when you finally think they have tragedy strikes all over again and left me feeling so empty and lonely for these two characters. Lastly I don't want to give any spoilers, but the discovery character at the end will leave you feeling such surprise and confusion. Is he good in his own demented way? What is this? You simply must read this book and find out for yourself.
I chose this book based on it's paranormal genre, I am a big fan of all things weird! I enjoyed the story behind each character and the way they all connected throughout, although I did find Holly a little bit annoying to begin with. I also felt really quite sorry for Blayne, as rude and abrupt as he sometimes seemed his back story was emotional and sad and I was glad to see he was able to move on from this eventually. My reason for giving this book 4 stars rather than 5 is really based on the ending, I felt they shouldn't have forgotten each other before meeting again. This made me wonder whether the life changes they had made would still be present. That said I loved the story and the progress the characters made with each other and I can't wait to read the next in this promising series!
This is the first paranormal book I've read in so long I wasn't sure if I would like it but I really did. I loved both of the characters and the chemistry that they had. I did think the way holly took to being able to see Blayne so quickly was a bit abrupt i would have been in shock for weeks not being able to process it on such little information from Adelaide. The ending of the book was a shocker I shouted in frustration when learning that Holly and Blayne would not remember each other but was pleasantly surprised with the ending. This is a brilliant first book by this author and I would read more of her work
Paranormal/Spiritual reads are not my usual choice - In fact, I think this is the first I've ever chosen to read. Suffice to say I'm glad I did. The story was gripping, the characters believable and the chemistry fantastic! Given my lack of knowledge in paranormal activity, I feel it would have taken me rather longer to accept delivery of a spirit into my life but I guess Holly was only given her gift because she already had a basis of belief and acceptance so I chose to overlook the mere hours it took her to deal with it. That said, I loved her spirit, her initial little power trip and the first wish...I actually laughed out loud!
ARR - thanks Caroline for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Took my time reading this book, once I really started to read it I literally don't want to part with it. I really love the story line and the way the author writes is incredible, describing the story that gets you hooked. Can't wait for the 2nd book.hopefully soon!
