Rate this book
A memoir of 22-year-old medical student who ventured alone into the heart of Kenya in 2011 for a voluntary work. It was a 5 weeks journey living with a Kenyan family of Kamba tribe, teaching English and Mathematics in one of the school in Makueni Region. Stationed in an all-Christian community village, being the only muslim and the first volunteer in the village, she learned how to adapt to their culture while at the same time maintaining her own belief and practice.

A journey that she hopes to spread to people out there with the message that we can all do goods despite the imperfection that we have and learn how to accept each other with all the differences among us.

one sentence to describe this book is "sometimes you have to leave your comfort zone"

after reading this book, I have so much respect to the writer as she taught the reader (especially me) to just go make your dream comes true. go experience this life to fullest. what I meant by "to the fullest" not the all nasty things that this world offers you, but something that makes you feel good about yourself, something that will make a world a better way.

as a for me, I always have this idea to volunteer to the community, but sometimes the urge is not big enough to turn my intention into action. anyway, maybe that can be one of my 2016 resolutions. wish me all the best people

Wachaa The Adventure is a travelogue book, about a 22-year-old girl's adventure to Kenya, as a volunteer there. She (the writer) shared her experience there for a whole one month. I don't know if I am a soft-hearted person because the book really is touching the deepest of my heart.

She told about how she felt attached to that place. And yes, so do I -- and worse by just reading the book. So I bet that she really wrote the book out from the bottom of her heart. To be able to deliver such emotions.

The things that I just wanna say is that I am glad that the writer was still stuck to her plan despite the no from her parents (they were just worried, I understand), that she decided to stay in the village alone (the only volunteer) for the rest of her volunteering days, that she decided to eat the mwatu from the boy, that she decided to not go to the Safari, that she decided to follow her heart.

I learned one thing though - that following your heart is like gambling on your own stake - if it ended up with failure it's you alone to be blamed and you have to embrace yourself with the 'if just-s'. But one thing is worth more actually, if following you heart brings success, the satisfaction is only ones who did follow their heart knows. And the writer knows.

And, I am just glad that she decided to share her experiences in Wachaa The Adventure for all of the readers outside there to read. Reading this book, definitely brings you along to go through the whole experiences the writer experienced. It makes you feel like you yourself are there with the writer, as well, experiencing the same experience.

Wachaa tu adalah satu perkataan salam/greetings dari homo sapiens yg lebih tua kpd homo yg lebih muda..yg muda, jgn balas “yo,what’s up older”..balaslah dgn mengucapkan ‘Aaa’ dan sila ckp dgn lemah lembut ye.
Negara kita ni saya rasa memanglah makin mendebarkan situasi politiknya sekarang, tapi cuba hangpa p mkn pasemboq dulu sambil baca buku ni.nescaya, perasaan bersyukur tu akan lebih menguasai hati berbanding rasa nak jd jaguh kat mukabuku tu.kat sana,budak2 kampung tu x pernah pn tgk gambar dlm bentuk yg telah dicetak.Doktor ni tulih toilet pn nak kene share dgn cockroaches a.k.a cik manis lipas pandai terbang.ayaq minum dari kolam.kaler cokelat, bukan yg bersuling dr jenama Coway.accident pukul 2,ambulans smpi pukul 7 kat tempat kejadian, pdhal x sampai 1 km kalau x silap jarak dia..hahaha..lg haru kan..jd,nasihat kpd diri saya jgk..banyakkan bersyukur..tq Doktor @qissesky .buku ni byk ilmu

"Hakuna matata. Take it easy. Its either sooner or later."

Harap-harapnya, semua baik belaka.

Tahniah Mas Qistina.

what a great journey! although you are a girl, taking this journey alone when it is not
common in our culture, you take this challenge. reading this memoir makes me feel grateful for what we have. it is also good to learn some of the word from Kenyan. however it will be great if there is a brief description on every pictures. btw i'm so amazed with the way they take care of their teeth looking by the book cover. and i also like their culture when the boys will be separated when they grow ups. it is so matured!

A book that made me believe that there's always light at the end of the tunnel. The vivid anecdotes of the author's each turns of her journey is truly touching and there are always lessons to be learnt. Her bold and honest thoughts and views, which sometimes I agree to disagree allow me to grasp the author's personality. I find myself truly inspired & grateful via her experiences and hope that others who read her memoir felt the same way too.

Enjoy reading it, very rare activity for a female Malaysia student studying in UK to experience as such. Very noble personality. TQ for sharing the true life experience.
