OH MY GOODNESS THAT CLIFFHANGER OF AN ENDING!!! AHHHHH!!
I really feel like the blurb saying "same but different pages" is 1000% accurate because our leads really ARE on the same page and want the same things where the other falls in love with them, but neither of them are realizes that the other IS in love with them! LOL!
This of course made some hilarious moments with Yanagi and him not being able to sleep because he is going so crazy about things with Kujou! LOL! And poor Kujou is struggling because she wants to respect Yanagi's feelings for his mysterious crush, but is also heartbroken and treats him not as nice because of it. LOL!
I feel Yanagi's mom is a HUGE mood and love how she is totally getting involved because YES! WE ALL FEEL THE SAME! LOL! Really really hoping we are going to see the ship FINALLY sailing!
I like the "ending" with Souma and I say "ending" loosely because I'm sure will see more of him in the upcoming volumes, but I think he had a conclusion of sorts with everything that happened with Kujou. It made me happy that he had a really great birthday! <3
Comfort food, if a bit bland. The spicy version of this is probably I Want to End This Love Game, which has both leads in on the act and pushing one another’s buttons as heatedly as possible.
It makes for an interesting contrast, arguably more interesting than the actual manga, as Last Game is very, very old school. I don’t mind that aspect of it, but it doesn’t stand out at all.
There’s little point in recapping the plot. Nine volumes in, Kujou realizes she loves Yanagi, but neither thinks the other loves them. Cue… a shojo manga, basically. This is one of those stories where every time a confession or plot development is on the horizon it gets interrupted.
Yanagi continues to be tsundere, Kujou is slightly less dense but now dealing with the reality before her. I did love her getting into cheesy romance television now that she has come to understand love.
Mostly it’s what you expect from the series. Glacial progress, good vibes rather than real laughs, and an okay cast. Souma still causes trouble, even knowing he’s doomed, which is a little… what’s the point?
You either like it or you don’t. If you love this, give it an extra star, it’s the same as always. I like it, but it’s a palette cleanser for me more than something I lunge for automatically.
3 stars - stays the course and probably will until it decides to wrap up. Which is to its benefit and detriment all at once.
I’ve been waiting to read this manga for so long…. And was overjoyed to FINALLY get my hands on it! This series always leaves me happy, smiling and laughing, so the moments spent reading it are always precious.
The book picks up from the last one, where Kujou goes to Yanagi’s house to spend the night. Although the two are awkward and nearly dying inside, as you could expect, I found all this fun and well written, and of course, as always, the art was just STUNNING.
The story moves on to cover Kujou visiting Yanagi’s parents house, Souma’s birthday (I love Souma DEARLY and I think we all needed this. Just seeing him makes me happy. Also Yanagi’s reactions to all this were a little unhinged, but I loved it.). I liked the way you could see the dynamic shift of Souma and Momoka. I ship the two a little for some reason… but we’ll see if anything actually comes of it, lol. Anyways, we also get to see the club go on a trip to Yanagi’s family Ryokan, where we meet his grandparents. Come to think of it, this volume was kind of ‘girlfriend meets boyfriend’s family!’ lol, despite the two STILL being not an item. But that’s the charm of the series for me… the slow pace makes every development feel like a huge deal, and I love that about it. Everything pays off so well. At the end of the current time story, Kujou seems have something to say to Yanagi… ohhh~~
We then get two chapters focusing on moments from his high school life, Kujou coming over to his house, and a moment of mild heartbreak for him in the second extra. It was fun seeing their high school dynamic again, because we didn’t get to see much of that in the story.
This volume made me laugh a lot, smile, and made my heart feel warm. I love Kujou and Yanagi… And can’t wait to see where the next volume will take them!
(This book contains some language and lots of romance. (Nothing crazy though). Reference of a mixer and a few other scenes that are mildly suggestive. I would give it an age rating of 13+)
Okay, so we’re finally getting more backstory, and it’s lovely. And seriously—oh my god—the parents are just obsessed with them, it’s hilarious in the best way. The whole family dynamic is so wholesome and chaotic, I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing. Honestly, I wish I had that kind of family energy—it’s warm and wild at the same time. And the way they bring in the cliché moments like the photo album? Iconic. It’s silly, it’s sweet, and I’m absolutely here for it. The dynamic from the previous book carries on so naturally too. Just a super fun, feel-good volume.
It is a very heart warming manga. The story is about Yanagi who is always first in everything plus he is a Rick and handsome brat. But suddenly a girl named Kujou is transferred to his primary school and turns out she is first in everything. So to defeat her and come first he start persuing her and they have a last game.
Ainssssssss... como me encanta Yanagi!! <3 creo que es uno de los protagonistas más tiernos y románticos que he visto toda mi vida (además de perseverante, jajaja)
I would recommend this to you if you like Special A, Maid Sama, or Kaguya love is War (although very loosely for the last)
I loved the dynamics of the male and female lead. Although I got very frustrated at times. For how dense these characters are. I loved them nonetheless.
“ akward, uncool, lack of self confidence. Those things that were always on my mind, in front of her they all just vanish” Soumaaaaaa you poor angle I hate love triangles
Ahh, I love this manga so much! Souma is just the cutest, he’s definitely my favorite character and I just want him to have a happy ending too! >v< I can’t wait to read the next oneeee
