yatori is so annoying omg🤬 but the smooch between nanami and tomeo though🫣🥹

Five stars for this volume in the series simply because I am a sucker for a plot going off the beaten path, and I am a sucker for things that happened in the past coming back around, transformed into something profound, especially if those things seemed insignificant at first.
Suzuki once again does an amazing job getting the raw emotion of her characters out and visible. One of Kamisama Kiss's greatest strengths is its heart, and that comes through in so many ways in this volume. Most pleasing was seeing Tomoe and Akura-oh's relationship expand into something wholly new, and exciting as a reader. Other favourite moments were the quick aside of Mizuki and Otohiko visiting Unari, and Nanami meeting with Kikuichi again. Overall, this volume was a wonderful read, and I am excited to see what the final few volumes of this series brings.

Negli ultimi volumi avevo la sensazione che stesse cercando di allungare il brodo, ma qui è stato diverso.

Dear lord, when will Yatori burn in hell? 🥲💀 I hate him so much, he's probably the worst villain. I regret ever feeling sorry for furball and thinking he's cute because ew??? He ends up becoming this greasy Yatori 🤬 Technically, he did burn in this volume, just not in the way I want him to ugh
But I have to say that Kirihito's character growth is quite marvellous! The fact that Akura-Oh resides in the human body for quite some times must have made him softer, and Ako's presence just proves that he has actually changed. Ako's true identity and her connection with Kirihito makes me tear up, and I guess I don't hate him that much after all. It actually makes me sad to see his end, but Tomoe promises that they'll meet each other again someday, so I will hold on to that 💗
And Tomoe finally allows himself to love humans so he's back to his ayakashi form 🥺💖 AAHHHH YESSSS NOW GO DESTROY YATORI, MY BOI
I’m also happy that Unari makes another appearance in this one, albeit very briefly. The fact that both Unari and Mizuki understand how it feels to be lonely allows Unari to comfort Mizuki, and when he finally cries in her arms 😭💗💗 I love these two so much; even if they don’t stay together, I know they’re meant to be there for each other’s comfort ❤️

I'm glad Tomoe finally had a revelation, but I had to give this three stars just because there are so many kami involved in this particular volume that I just can't keep up with who is doing what for whom.

I think Mizuki, Tomoe and Kurama represent three different ideals. Personally I would make a different choice... but anyway, the ending was awfully cute (and sad). One of my fav manga/anime endings so far (on par with Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist).

Now this was way better. It’s emotional, it’s sad, it’s dramatic. I fucking cried and that says something because I really need to be attached to a character to cry over them.
Akura dies and I’m so sad. I didn’t expect the manga to actually kill him off by the end because he was changing as a person so much. I love that he really did change by the end and listened to his heart when it really mattered. I loved that he protected the mom and genuinely realized that he was attached to her, Tomoe and Kikuichi. I’m so sad that he had to die now that he had a change in his heart but I’m also glad that because of it he managed to help others as well.
I love the change in Tomoe and specifically that it happened because of Akura. It actually was the only way for Tomoe to change his view because Akura was the only comparable being to him and if he could change, Tomoe could as well… especially because Akura hated humans even more than Tomoe.
Also I love the showdown between Tomoe and Yatori. It really shows how different they are. Tomoe is back to his old self and he even has the beautiful long hair that he should have even in his shinshi form if you ask me. I also love that he promises Akura to find him when he is reborn. And I really hope that they can defeat Yatori even though he now he started merging with Akura’s body because he is horrible and deserves to die. There is no light to be found in this stupid furball.
Also I don’t quite understand what is happening with Kuromaro. I hope that this plotline gets resolved because it’s really confusing.
Oh and Nanami isn’t dying anymore… what a surprise (though I did love the scene of Tomoe clutching onto the life-force for her).
This is the greatness that I’ve been missing. I’ll be giving this 5 stars because it really hits and it made me cry and Tomoe has long hair which is great. It really made me excited for the last two volumes and I hope they don’t disappoint now.

Lots of things finally happened in this volume that I’ve been waiting for! The ark of Akura-oh continues as Kirihito makes his way to his body in the land of the dead. Meanwhile, still in fox form, Tomoe found a girl wandering around and brings her to Nanami (in the previous volume). That girl turns out to be Kirihito’s mom, who I forgot was killed by Yatori some volumes earlier, without Kirihito’s knowledge. Seeing his mom again makes him second guess going after his body, instead sacrificing himself for a human woman when Yatori goes in to strike. Turns out that this works out in Nanami’s favor, since she was given the rest of Kirihito’s life force (fitting, since he took it from her anyway) to be able to live. Tomoe is also there helping to protect Kirihito’s mom, which makes the bulb bloom, showing he’s let humans into his heart, and which he eats later to return to his regular form. Another kiss between Tomoe and Nanami... and then Tomoe is racing after Yatori, who is now the Big Bad as he tries to resurrect Akura-oh’s body on his own.

OH MY GOD! I Love this arc so much! Everything is building up so quickly!
Akura's arc wasn't so much tied up in a neat package, there are still some loop holes like Akura and Kayako. All other characters that we met in the previous volumes returned in this last arc and made an impact to the story, except for Kayako. I felt like she was treated more like a foot note because she really didn't make an impact to the story and to Akura. Her name was mentioned but that was it. And what about her love for Akura? It felt like he dumped her and she didn't know it, too bad for her! It took me awhile to remind myself who Kayako was after they mentioned her several volumes later! All the other recurring characters especially Kuramoro certainly made an impact in this last arc. The climax really escalated quickly in this one and I was all for it!

Amo come, nell’arco di questi 137 capitoli letti fino ad ora, si siano mostrati davanti ai miei occhi tanti di quei temi e peculiarità da farmi perdere il conto. Non pensavo che questa storia potesse avere così tante sfaccettature, credo sia una delle opere che più mi abbia sorpreso in questo 2021.
La cosa meravigliosa è che a me non sembra mai che questi ultimi volumi siano stati pubblicati per “allungare inutilmente la trama”. Al contrario, sono grata che Julietta Suzuki non si sia fermata molti capitoli prima perchè questa è una storia dalle così tante peculiarità che anche solo una decina di capitoli in meno avrebbe rappresentato una mancanza insostenibile alla trama completa.

case in point AKURA-OH/KIRIHITO’S ENDING simply beautiful
akura from being in a human body finally understanding the worth of humans after centuries as seeing them as worthless
and it being revealed kirihito’s mom came down to the underworld to save him but really yatori killed her so tragic
also totally forgot yatori was the little puff ball from the past but it makes SO much sense
and tomoe finally accepting humans to his heart beautiful beautiful great nanami and tomoe moment
and the moment between tomoe and akura 😪

Not at all what I expected! I thought Tomoe would defeat Akura-Oh and find a way to save Nanami. Instead, Akura-Oh learns to care for humans and gives Nanami back the life he stole from her, thus defeating himself. Fantastic! This resolution not only showed tremendous growth on Akura-Oh's part, but Tomoe's having witnessed it all changed him profoundly, too. I couldn't be happier with this one!

Me dije que iba solamente a comentar el primer y último tomo para no abusar de las cantidades... pero no pude contenerme con la situación.
A pesar de ser un guacho malo malísimo, Akura-oh logró ganarse mi corazoncito, su desarrollo me dejó un buen sabor, además que esas palabras que dijo en los últimos capítulos fueron la clave para que Tomoe encuentre de nuevo el rumbo.
Me gustó este arco, aunque se hiciera un poco denso por culpa del pesado de Yatori, pero bue

El capítulo 135 es el mejor de todo el manga, y la despedida de Tomoe con Akurao se convirtió de lejos en mi momento favorito, amo cuando un personaje evoluciona y crece para mejorar, en este caso no solo a él sino también a su hermano Tomoe, me quedare por siempre la sonrisa final del desgraciado de Akurao en mi cabeza, gracias por tanto demonio. Así que solo queda... la escoria de Yatori para cerrar la historia, y por supuesto el final feliz de nuestra parejita protagonista.

I'm going to leave the same review for all the volumes. I LOVED this manga so much and am trying to collect all the physical copies. I was originally reading it online when it was still coming out
There are a lot of characters. Only some are the main characters, but we see and get to know the side characters also. World building was nicely done in typical youkai fashion, and the romance was very cute

.....23 volumes in and series is almost complete....and Nanami is still acting extremely stupid. There has been no growth in her selfish ways but that most likely has to do with no one holding her accountable to her actions.
But, leaving such a sore spot alone, I really liked this volume for Tomoe & Kirihito/Akura-oh's story line.

Yatori kills Kikuichi in front of Kirihito. The war kami is after Akura-Oh for stealing Okuninushi's soul. Kirihito protects his mom from Yatori's attack and dies. Akura-Oh gives Tomoe Nanami's life force back. Tomoe finds Akura-Oh's body and Yatori tries to kill him. Tomoe defeats Yatori, but he becomes part of Akura-Oh's body.

I came back to finish this series after 7 years because I had just re-watched the anime and I was pretty sure the manga was completed by now. And I'm writing this review about half a year after I actually read the volumes so this is kind of a group review for 22 and on.
I love these. They're so dramatic yet sweet and cute.
