Damon Atwood was Hollywood’s golden boy. Having won an Oscar at the tender age of thirteen, he had the life many could only dream about. But his success came at a price, and after a short but fruitful film career, he chose to live a life of obscurity on a remote Scottish island. Almost a decade later he’s finally ready to make his return, starting with a lead role in a musical on London’s West End.

As a choreographer’s assistant, Rose Taylor has always faded into the background. She watches shows come to life from the side lines, but has never craved the attention of stardom. When rumours begin circulating of Damon’s involvement in her latest gig, she doesn’t predict how she will be thrust into the limelight, nor how the mysterious and strangely introverted man will need her to teach him how to be a star again.

Rose knows that show crushes don’t last. Actors fall for each other during the intensity of a production, often losing themselves in their roles. These kinds of affairs burn bright and then they fade. The question is, should Rose let herself shine with Damon, or guard her heart from being broken after the final curtain call?

In a heartbeat, every look we’d shared flashed through my mind, from that initial fleeting glance across the dance studio the first time I’d heard him sing, to this one. This one told me I owned his heart, his soul, his everything.

This was my very first LH Cosway book and all I can say is that after having finished this one I am DYING to read every single story she has ever written!! I have become her newest FANGIRL!!! From beginning to end, I loved the ever loving crap out of this story. It was like having my most favorite meal – I never wanted it to end!! This book had a beautiful, dirty talking, and utterly to die for Hero and a beyond loveable Heroine. Throw in a bunch of angst, well developed secondary characters, and off the charts STEAM, and you have the makings of THE PERFECT BOOK!!

 photo 2a772a0bdd2ffb37098ab43caa4da6c1_zpshplmabny.jpg

Rose Taylor is an assistant to a choreographer of the Broadway rendition of Moulin Rouge. She is getting over a recent breakup with an actor she worked with on a previous job. She has had a weakness in the past for actors but now has decided to write the lot off. Her new rule against dating actors is about to be put to the test when she meets the leading man of the show, Damon Atwood.

Damon was a child star who went through all the usual family drama and ended up getting emancipated from his father at an early age. Some of the things he went through while living with his father have left some lasting damage even through to his adulthood. He’s been out of the limelight for nearly a decade, living on a small island in Scotland with his Gran. On her deathbed, she urged Damon to try his hand at acting again. She truly believed in his talent and felt he could find happiness in it again. He’s a man of a few words and shy, but he lets all of his inhibitions go when he gets into character.

When Damon and Rose first meet, you can feel that simmering attraction from the start. There is an undeniable pull between them. Damon feels a little unnerved having to live in the city of London and on his first night there, he asks Rose for help with directions to his new home. He finds himself feeling at peace whenever she is around and for some reason he feels that he can trust her. Damon has trust issues that stem from the time he spent with his father and with people who seemed to only be interested in him for his celebrity.

The two seem oblivious to that fact that they are both attracted to each other and that made for some good angst. Plus, throw in a couple of characters that were out to get in between the two and it became downright painful at times. But when Damon lets down his guard a little and the dirty talking alter ego comes out, well let’s just say Rose wasn’t the only one left panting and weak in the knees. I was nearly dying from the anticipation for the two of them to finally give in to their passion for each other, but the slow build made it that much more fantastic when it finally happened!!! Once Damon gets a taste of Rose, he becomes insatiable and I couldn’t get enough of the steam!!

SHOWMANCE is due out tomorrow!! Be sure and one-click because this is a definite MUST READ!!!! I already know this is one I will re-read in the future. It was just that PERFECT!!!

4.5 “Only Us” STARS

Is it weird that only when I start a L.H. Cosway book am I reminded of how much I adore her writing style? I’ve read almost all of her work and still am shocked how much I enjoy the ease in which she gifts a story. Her writing flows seamlessly while she gifts quirky heroines and to drool over heroes and this book delivers on all points.

Rose Taylor is an amazing dancer but is comfortable behind the curtain working as a choreographer’s assistant. This time she is working on putting together Moulin Rouge for the stage. After a brutal break up with her actor boyfriend, she has sworn off all actors indefinitely. That is until Damon Atwood the former American child star who has been out of the public eye for years comes to audition and wows everyone with his looks and singing ability.

”I was sure that if I’d met Damon a month ago, I’d already be head over heels, especially considering the whole brooding antisocial thing he had going on. However, my Blake wounds had scabbed over, they were still fresh, so I wasn’t really feeling anything more than friendship.”

Damon promises his grandmother on her death bed that he will revive his art. He leaves his secluded island life and takes the lead role for the musical. Damon is uncomfortable and brooding however he is at ease with Rose and she smitten with him but keeps their attraction strictly friend zoned.

”He was closed off, never showing much but still just enough to leave you dying for another glimpse.”

description

Rose and Damon have a fantastic connection and chemistry however they are “just friends” while they are both being pursued by others. Damon’s co-star Alicia wants him in the worst way while Rose’s ex Blake has been casted on the show as well… let the drama ensue!

description

No matter how hard Alicia tries to sink her claws into Damon and Blake tries to win Rose back they can’t break this couple’s connection.

”I’ll always pick you first, petal.”

description

I enjoyed the author’s angsty slow build but at times their retreats back into the friend zone drove me insane, especially because I could feel how much Damon wanted her and was putting himself out of his zone to get close to Rose. I truly adored Damon and found him unlike any hero I have met.

”Fuck all the people watching us. For once in my life I was going to be unselfconscious about something. I was going to take fucking charge.”

description

”Well, that was fucking hot…”

Overall this was a slow build love story between two characters that were instantly attracted but had to work on things within themselves and two annoying outsiders who wanted them. I loved the stage feels and thought the author did a fantastic job of giving the descriptions and feels that go into putting on a show this quality on. I’m left wondering if Alicia will be Julian’s love interest…God I hope not.

”I won’t let anyone interfere in what’s between us, Rose. I promise.”

Unpopular opinion, but this guy is my Damon

This book. What can I say? Rose and Damon are everything. LH Cosway never disappoints. She continues to deliver butterflies in the stomach and delicious heart-twisty aches in the chest. I love her books.

Damon is one of my top three Cosway heroes, right up there with Viv and Shane. Though Oliver is one of my favorites, too. . . hmm. . .

And Rose is, as ever, a delight.

I HOPE WE GET A BOOK ABOUT JULIAN!!!!!! I LOVE HIM!

I think this might be my favorite by LH Cosway.
I'm pretty sure this is my favorite.
. . . yep. Favorite.

This is me.

Once again L.H. Cosway delivered an enthralling read that capture my heart from the beginning until the end. There’s no secret I adore her stories and her characters and I find her writing to be impeccable each and every time. 'Showmance' was not my first read that features the magnificent world of theatre, but it was without a doubt the best. Everything was stellar. From the emotions this magnificent world evoked to all the wonderful settings, everything was vividly portrayed. Needless to say I was engrossed in this story from the very beginning.

“The man was such a contradiction, with the rugged looks of a heartthrob and the personality of a hermit just coming out of hibernation.”

Former child star Damon Atwood had been out of the limelight for almost a decade. After he cut all ties with everyone from the film industry he decided to live on the island of Skye with his grandmother. On his grandmother’s death bed he promises to revive his art and the next day he’s ready to keep his promise when he accepts to take the leading role in a theatrical musical.

“She was a sea of calm to my troubled thoughts, and I wanted to feel more of that.”

Rose Taylor is a dancer, a talented dancer who never craved the attention of stardom, preferring to work just as a choreographer’s assistant. She’s trying to get over a breakup truly believing she chooses the worst men to fall for. Knowing very well she has a weakness for actors, she makes herself a promise – not to fall for another actor anytime soon.

From the moment Damon lays eyes on Rose he simply knows she’s different from any other woman he met before. She’s friendly and warm and every time he is around her he feels that he can be himself, feeling alive.

description

“I want all of you, Rose, not a quarter or a third or a fifth. I want everything.”

I really enjoyed this one! Not my favorite book by this author, but I enjoyed almost every aspect of this story. As always Mrs. Cosway’s writing was flawless, engaging and her storytelling was simply fantastic. My favorite aspect of the story was our hero, Damon. Damon was such an endearing character. He was so swoon-worthy and I fell for him from the beginning. I loved his portrayal. He was so different from any other main male characters I’ve read about in a long time. A complex man, Damon is handsome, rough around the edges, awkward and closed off. At least at the beginning. I loved how he was with Rose, our heroine from the beginning. He was so sweet, caring and also patient with her as the story unfolded. He really charmed me. Rose was a lovely heroine, but to be honest I didn’t enjoy her character as much as Damon’s. She’s sweet and caring and genuinely a good woman, but at times she was frustrating as hell.

“I see you perfectly, and I like what I see. I always will.”

I liked how she helped Damon in some way or another. She was thoughtful and considerate and I totally believed she was the perfect match for him.

The slow build relationship between Damon and Rose was done pretty well, but I have to admit at times I would have liked the pace to be a little different. I loved the connection between them and of course the sexual tension that was fantastically done. Overall I think they were good for each other and perfect together. All the sweet and sexy moments between them proved that repeatedly.

What it didn’t work for me was all the drama that occurred as the story unfolded. To be honest I found it to be unnecessary and it got on my nerves. I would have preferred the story to be angst and drama free. For me it would have been much better!

That being said, I enjoyed this lovely romance and even if it wasn’t a total winner for me I highly recommend it! I'm sure many readers will love it!

“We fit together perfectly. There was no one else for me. If I couldn’t have Rose, I was condemning myself to a life of halves, and I wanted to live a whole one.”

Just three quick facts (or should I say opinions) about this book:

Fact #1: I love Ms. Cosway’s writing.

Her style is fresh and romantic, filled with warmth, love and wit. Her characters are likable and real. She always delivers unconventional love stories with unique settings.

Fact #2: There’s just something magical and mystical about theaters.

The air filled with creative energy, audience waiting in anticipation, voices murmuring, hushing as the lights dim... until the curtain rises and the real magic begins before your very eyes.

Fact#3: Sadly, I’ve read this book before. Well, not really, but you know what I mean.

I had a problem with the plot which was too predictable. It followed the formulaic approach, especially with that drama around 80% mark which was totally unnecessary...

But I liked the main characters: Damon, with the rugged looks of a heartthrob and the personality of a hermit and Rose, an insecure but talented heroine with a girl-next-door personality. I just couldn’t relate to them and to their love story fully. Their love felt too ordinary, their chemistry lukewarm and there wasn't enough passion.

Damon.

Damon, Damon, Damon.

Yup, he's my new book boyfriend. All mine. I'll fight ya for him! Why? Because Damon Atwood is a wonderful mix of tortured, brooding artist and gruff, caring, earthiness. I absolutely loved him! He was a perfect counterpoint to heroine, Rose, a talented, romantic, warm, trusting, open young woman. She was exactly the kind of person Damon needed in his life, and as far as character development goes, perfection. I also loved how both hero and heroine had their fair share of trauma, and yet such different reactions to it. There was that perfect balance of being what the opposite needed with enough similarities between them for compassion and empathy to draw them together. This was done with L.H. Cosway's natural instincts for great characterisation; a skill proven in her supporting characters because with every one of her books I find myself equally intrigued by them as I am with the main heroes. And as always, Showmance is recognisable as an L.H. Cosway novel because of its earthy authenticity and addictively smooth-paced narrative.

Showmance may be set in the flamboyant world of the theatre and a Moulin Rouge production, but this is a story about the characters and their romance takes centre stage. It is one filled with heart pounding emotion, delicious angst and damn hot sex scenes! *fans self*
If I haven't mentioned it before I'm a huge fan! Like Cosway's books before it, Showmance has heart, intensity, loveable, real, raw characters and more than a dash of heat!

Title: Showmance
Series: Standalone
Author: L.H. Cosway
Release date: May 16, 2016
Cliffhanger: No
HEA

I'm such a fanatic about L.H. Cosway's writing. Her stories are rich with detail and authenticity. She takes unexpected and flawed characters and makes them leap right off the pages and capture your whole imagination. Showmance was no exception, I was completely absorbed and luxuriating in the setting, the characters, and the wonderful world of theater. This is the captivating story of two talented people finding love on the set of Moulin Rouge in the British theater district.

I think my favorite thing about this book was Damon, hands down. I always expect the unexpected with one of her books, but he was a very welcome surprise for me. Here's why I loved him so much: he was a reclusive ex-Hollywood star who is socially awkward and uneasy about being around people. His awkwardness was so endearing and original to me.

The man was such a contradiction, with the rugged good looks of a heartthrob and the personality of a hermit just coming out of hibernation.

He's an extremely sweet and sensitive type of guy, he's just unable to express himself capably and I could really identify with that. His character was just so fascinating to read about, the many complexities he had, and his imperfections. He was vulnerable, but not weak. Quiet, but steady and unimpressed by the artificial side of being in the public eye. I melted all over his tender yearnings toward Rose right from the start. He exuded nothing but intensity and sincerity, there was nothing phony about him.

His inner thoughts had me laughing on so many occasions. I couldn't help but chuckle at his flustered emotions, he was always struggling to control his attraction without much success.

I thought I saw a tiny tremble go through her, and my cock reacted. I silently urged it to fuck off. I didn't need Rose noticing my stiffy and thinking I was some kind of sexual deviant.

All right, I think I'm done gushing about Damon. I'm attempting to reign it in here.

Rose was another wonderful heroine. She's a talented choreographer whose stage fright directs her to stay behind the scenes. She's completely without artifice or ego, and she exudes a kind of innocence and honesty that immediately pulls in the distrustful Damon. She was immediately attracted to him, but determined to stay on platonic footing. She has a past proclivity for being drawn to the actors she works with. After her recent disaster on that front, she vows to avoid letting herself get taken advantage of again. Not that Damon isn't making her test her restraint from the very start.

It felt strange, this thing between us, because ninety-five percent of it was completely unspoken. It was just a feeling, one that drew me to him like a moth to a flame.

L.H. Cosway built the anticipation and tension to a fine point. I was desperate for them to work out their fears and break through the barriers that held them back. The push and pull between these two, the longing and hunger that they tried to tamp down gave me the giddy flutters. There were outside factors influencing their distance as well, with a jealous ex and another meddling interloper. But once they made their choice to grasp onto one another, they were inseparable. Their love and desire for one another was written so beautifully, I wanted to creep inside the book and stay there. *swoony sigh*

A long relieved sigh escaped him as we started to kiss in earnest, our mouths melding together, our tongues searching, like were were trying to absorb one another whole.

I can't recommend this book enough. Damon and Rose had the kind of love that romance readers love to escape in. Heart pounding from beginning to end. As long as L.H. Cosway decides to pen these exquisite stories, I'll happily devour her words and love every minute of it.

L.H. Cosway pens an irresistibly sexy and gorgeously swoony story, with impeccable execution and dazzling delivery.

Former child star Damon Atwood got a rude awakening after he reached success, won an Oscar and lost his mother. Deciding he wasn’t cut out to live with the strings that come the limelight, he severs all ties and goes to live on the island of Skye with this grandmother. After her passing almost ten years later and by her wishes he takes the leading role in a theatrical musical at London’s West End.
“To act was a shy man’s revenge on the world.”

Rose Taylor has a terrible case of stage fright. Never desiring the spotlight, her job as a choreographer’s assistant allows her to take part and enjoy in the creation and cohesion of fine arts, including dance, from back stage. However her life is about to change when she meets the quiet leading man in the production of play she’s working on.

He’s naturally shy, she’s kindhearted and open. He shines on stage, while she likes being back stage and has been hurt one to many times by an actor. From the moment their eyes meet they’re both affected, but can they lower their guard to see that they’re the perfect counterbalance for one another?

Those are a lot of adjectives in my beginning statement, and yet I don’t think they’re enough. There are so many reasons to read this sexy and heartwarming book, so let’s start:

1. L.H. wrote it, which means it’s different, with vibrant descriptions, sultry sexiness and a swoon worthy love tale. She’s a brilliant writer that composes a beautiful love stories. Showmance flows effortlessly and had me flipping pages, loving every single moment. I could gorge on her books.

2. The great character development is another L.H. trait I love. I was not only invested in the main characters, I was equally interested in the secondary ones as well. As unlikely as it seems I think Alicia and Blake would make interesting character, but I was especially charmed by Julian who I hope we get to know his own book.

3. Rose is totally quirky and adorable. She’s not just talented, she’s kind and trusting and perfect for Damon.

4. Damon. Damon. Damon. He’s the best kind of book boyfriend. He’s broody, awkward and brusque, yet tender and caring with a dirty mind and an even dirtier mouth.

5. The story’s background is set in the colourful world of the theatrical production of one of my favorite movies! Moulin Rouge which causes characters to spontaneously break out in to song and dance.

6. Damon can sing anyone into doing anything.
“His singing was like aural caramel, smooth, thick and undeniably sultry.”

7. Even though the attraction is palpably instant, we get a friends to lovers romance where both characters have difficult pasts from which they find common ground and empathize with one another, and helps along the solid and deliciously slow build that is blush worthy and constant throughout the story and gave me all kinds of tingles.
“But who’d want all that lovey-dovey stuff when you could be having passionate fights and mind-blowing make-up sex?…those who are perfectly confident in their bedroom expertise that they don’t need to rely on emotional trauma to create desire.”

8. Damon calls Rose, petal. Totally sweet and swoony for the taciturn, stoic and shy man.
“I’ll always pick you first, petal.”

9. Every time a read an L.H. Cosway book I decide that that one is my favorite. Every time she writes a new one she catches me by surprise and makes a happy liar out of myself. I cannot fathom falling harder but I’m sure Cosway will gift us with lots of amazing stories.

10. Damon. Damon. Damon. I know, I’ve mentioned him one before, but he’s worth mentioning more than once.
“He was closed off, never showing much but still just enough to leave you dying for another glimpse.”

Showmance is a standalone contemporary romance by L.H. Cosway. It has a dash of angst, sultry sexiness and all the feels. It’s told from both points of view. With an incredibly delicious happy ending that had me melting in a pile of gooey sweetness.

Rose is a dance choreographer in show business. She is the assistant to her mentor; a very respected and famous choreographer in London. Dancing is everything to her.

Rose has sworn off actors. Being in the business she's in, she's gotten burned too many times by some of the beautiful players of the industry. She's a hopeless romantic, always looking for love, but after her latest heartache, she's decided she's taking a break from love.

Then comes Damon Atwood.

 photo 4AE620D7-3AEC-4267-A752-3A9888833392_zpsyyiwbutn.jpg

Rose's latest work project is the theater remake of Moulin Rouge, and the mysterious Damon Atwood has been cast as the male lead. Nobody knows much about him since he's been absent from show business for more than a decade. Damon was a child actor, very successful, even winning an Oscar at the age of thirteen. After his mother died of cancer, he went to live with his dad. His father burned through all of Damon's earning in drugs and parties, forcing Damon to get emancipated from him. After that he disappeared, secluding himself in the island of Skye, with his grandmother.

Damon's grandmother's dying wish was that he would go back to what he loves to do, singing and acting. It was destiny that brought Damon to London to meet Rose.

Damon is very shy and closed off. He doesn't trust anybody but from the moment he saw the kindness shining so bright in Rose's eyes, he couldn't stay away.

Rose and Damon are very attracted to each other but they are skittish about love, so they decide to take things slow and become good friends. Both helping the other overcome their fears. As their friendship progresses, a beautiful love is born. Unfortunately, the world they live in is full of jealous and competitive people, making it very hard for them to move forward with a romance and also feeding into their insecurities.

The beautiful theater setting in this book is truly captivating. L.H Cosway makes us live and breathe the playhouse magic with her latest novel. The blinding lights, the music, the dance, the applause, you'll be able to feel it all.

Another thing that I loved about this book was how original and unexpected Damon's character was. He was the broody and shy type, but when you least expected it he would turn into a sexy alpha male, ready to strip you naked just with his eyes and sexy words. Very dreamy!!!

I wish I could add lights and music to this review. This novel was a musical for the heart, each chapter packed with love and lyrics, ready to make you sing and dance. This is the kind of story that was created to make the reader happy. I will be gifting copies of this novel to a few of my friends, and share the love a little bit. Fabulous book!

Make sure to check out L.H Cosway Spotify account. She always puts together beautiful music playlists to go with her novels. Listening to the music, always enhances my experience with the book.

I don’t think that there is another author that quite paints a picture with words as vividly with so much detail as L. H. Cosway always manages to do. Showmance is no exception, I devoured this book as I would a large bar of my favorite chocolate, you know the kind that when you look down and see just crumbs you can’t believe it’s all gone, and just how quickly you managed to get through it.

Another thing the author seems to manage to do with great skill is take likeable characters; flaws an all and put them in unique and diverse settings, and give them a story that exceeds all expectations, again there is a firm check mark in the column for Showmance on this front as well.

I fell in love with Rose, Damon and the varied and many secondary characters in the book. Set mainly around the bringing together of a cast for a new theater production of Moulin Rouge, and the re-emergence of Damon Atwood into the public eye after nearly a decade out of the spotlight, and all the hoop-la that goes with it. Fame as a child star didn’t go too well for this guy, and he has pretty much spent most of his twenties holed up on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, working on a fishing boat and living with his grandmother.

"You have no idea the kind of betrayal I’ve suffered in my life… This friendship I have with you is a big deal. I haven’t let someone into my life like I have you in years."

Rose, tries to see the best in people, through rose coloured glasses if you will, but when she once again gets dumped upon and then dumped by her latest actor lover, she swears off men for the foreseeable… Well that is until she sets eyes on a certain Mr Atwood and his magnetic, grumpy charm.

As you would expect with a theater full of thespians, all with their own agendas, egos and points to make, the path from friendship to true love does not run at all smoothly, and the author really bought the story alive with the secondary characters heavy involvement in Rose and Damon’s coming together.

Notable mention goes to Rose’s best friend and flat-mate Julian, and I can’t lie having the authors confirmation at the back of the book that he will be getting his story told in 2017 made me really, really happy. This is a guy that reminded me somewhat of the inimitable Nicolas aka Vivica Blue (Painted Faces) in that his face-value character and the complexity that you know is going on behind that, is going to show a whole other person in the telling of his story.

Sometimes they good ones could break your heart even worse than the bad.

I love this author’s work, as I am sure you can gather, you can always guarantee that whatever story she tells, and whoever the characters involved are, will always be something a little different to the norm and a whole lot worthwhile in its reading.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but I also have some issues with it.

I won't go into the summary of this book anymore since there are plenty of reviews out there who's done a magnificent job of doing that. So let's just start with the stuff that I did like and enjoyed.

One, the characters. Damon is your perfect broken, broody hero that's so talented and yet still endearingly awkward at the same time. I enjoyed that tortured, brooding aspect of his character and liked how he slowly opened up to Rose. I love me some cocky, swaggerring heroes but it's refreshing to read about a hero who is confident but also has a vulnerable and sensitive side to him. Damon was like that to me. He's gorgeous and talented but he wasn't a cocky alphahole.

Rose, I liked as well. I always appreciate and love stories where the heroine has a career and dreams of her own and she just doesn't exist to please the hero or change him or whatever. Her backstory along with Julian was heartbreaking but she still maintains a can do attitude.

Speaking of Julian...oh my lawd, I want his book so bad. He stole the show along with my heart. He's the exact opposite of Julian but just as broken, if not more.

The dialogue and the banter was great. The setting...the whole play in and of itself was fascinating to read.

Now onto the stuff that I didn't like as much. Some even made me roll my eyes so hard they almost fell out of my head.

One, the conflict that supposedly kept the hero and heroine apart was weak. It was basically just this one particular character who is hell bent on interfering with the hero and heroine. I won't go into details but that was annoying because it dragged on and on.

Second, a few plot devices like was frankly eyeroll worthy. If this had been YA and set in high school with high school characters, it wouldn't feel out of place. But considering their ages, that felt contrived and out of place.

Still, the positives outweighed the negatives for me. I still enjoyed reading it and I felt invested enough with the romance to keep on reading despite those issues. Plus, L.H. Cosway can really write. She has a very distinct narrative voice and you can't help but be sucked into the story she's telling. So this definitely won't be my last Cosway book because now that I've got a taste for her writing style and the way she builds her characters, I'm hooked.

I've only read the books she co-wrote with Penny Reid, so I'm excited to read this!

L.H. Cosway is one of my top favorite authors, but I'm sad to say this one didn't really work for me. I just honestly think she's written much better books than this, and those are the ones I would recommend to anyone new to her work. Still Life with Strings, Six of Hearts, Painted Faces, Killer Queen are my personal favorites. This wasn't all bad, I was invested enough to finish it, and I did like some of the characters and the theatre backdrop. I just had too many frustrations with it to enjoy it fully.

First of all, I'm all for a slow burn romance, but imo this one was just slow. I actually skimmed in certain places, and I've never done that while reading her books before. I felt that the humor and engaging dialogue she is known for was lacking in this one, and I just never really felt the connection between the characters.

Also, Rose and Damon spent half the book awkwardly staring at each other. It actually became comical, and once I notice a repetitve, annoying thing like that I can't get over it. Between the staring, blushing, spin the bottle game, and contrived drama....the whole thing ended up seeming very juvenile. If there's anything I can't stand in a romance, it's a plot based on misunderstandings, and it wasn't even believable.

Here's a great quote from Damon,

"More and more these days I felt like my life was becoming some soap opera-style love triangle. Or perhaps a love square was the more accurate term."

*sigh*

I will read the next book in the series though, loved Julian.

After reading Painted Faces, I knew I had to read more from this author because I just loved that book! So when I heard about Showmance, I had to read it.

Rose Taylor is a choreographer's assistant in the remake of Moulin Rouge. She is passionate about dancing but definitely prefers to be in the shadows rather than the limelight. After her famous actor boyfriend breaks up with her rather abruptly, leaving her heart wounded, she decides to never date actors again.

Damon Atwood was the brilliant academy award winning child actor that was never heard from again. Damon makes a promise to his grandmother on her deathbed that he will return to acting, which is why when an opportunity arises where he gets to do the role of Christian, he jumps at the chance.

Damon is this quiet, stoic, and brooding man. After being holed up in the island where he got the oasis he needed from the cameras and his upbrining, being around people is now difficult for him. Damon has become antisocial as a result, yet the only person he seems to feel comfortable talking to is Rose. When Damon walks on set, Rose can't deny how attractive he is, but there is no way she going there again with another actor. Damon is a bit awkward yet Rose manages to get to come out of his shell.

I really loved the easy going friendship these two unlikely characters seem to make up. I tell ya, L.H. Cosway knows how to make quirky yet lovable characters that you can't help but fall in love with. That is exactly what happened to me and Damon, I fell hard for him. He was so sexy and so sweet. I couldn't stop swooning over him. Rose was a fun and sweet character as well. I loved that everything was slow build between them--although I will admit there were a few times I wanted things to go faster because of well...Damon. Their friendship was the absolute best. When they became so much more, it only got better.

In going with the theatrical theme of the story, things only got more interesting--and by interesting I mean dramatic--when Rose's ex-boyfriend Blake joins the cast. Blake may have called it off with Rose but he has all the intentions in the world of rekindling that romance. Not only that, but Damon's co-star Alicia has Damon in her cross hairs and will do anything to get him.

This whole book was a very enjoyable with a quirky cast of supporting characters that added so much humour to the story. I loved the main characters and the connection that they shared. I enjoyed all of the banter that kept the story fun. I absolutely loved Damon that I can't stop raving about him. He was just so perfect to me, especially after that epilogue. Just loved! If you're looking for a funny book, with some drama, steam and sweet romance, then this is the perfect one for you. You definitely have to give this one a read. Meanwhile, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed Julian gets his own book, too.

Showmance is my first L.H. Cosway book, I loved her books with Penny Reid so I was excited to read this one. Let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed. I actually loved every word of this one. Damon and Rose are such special, fantastic characters and watching them fall in love put a huge smile on my face.

Rose is an assistant choreographer/dancer and fresh out of a bad relationship with an actor. Turning over a new leaf she has sworn off actors, no more showmances for her. Damon isn’t your typical actor. He was a famous child star and even won an Oscar, but during his teens he just disappeared. When she meets Damon he is nothing like she expected. He is stunningly beautiful, but she can tell he is uncomfortable with the fame and attention.

Rose befriends Damon and while she is attracted to him she only intends to be his friend. This story is told in dual POV, which I loved because Damon was instantly attracted to Rose and his thoughts were freaking hot and completely unexpected.

This story is full of heart and love, but I also theater drama. I loved the dynamics between the cast and how it really felt like you were living the scenes with the characters. The fellow actors were written perfectly and while at times they upset me, were so true to character.

I love a story that pulls you into another world and makes you believe it’s real. Rose and Damon’s love and relationship was sexy as sin and an addicting to read. They are not your typical couple and while there is drama it never made my feelings for Rose or Damon change. I love how they were both honest and open, and stood their ground.

Like I said, Showmance is my first Cosway book, but it won’t be my last. I can’t wait to read them all now. She completely hooked me with this swoon-worthy love story and beautiful writing.

Short review. While I enjoyed this newest book from LH Cosway, I was not blown away by it. I loved the concept and idea of the book, a choreographer and an actor falling in love. But the indecisiveness of the characters and the high school behavior just didn't work for me. I loved Julian and really hope he gets his own book somewhere down the line.

Anyways like I said I enjoyed this, I just didn't love it. Please don't tell me you're sorry. Thanks!

Amazing, interesting characters and even more interesting storyline! I was totally absorbed in Damon and Rose’s story. The main focus here is to never give up on your dream, no matter what gets thrown in your way.

After being away from the spotlight almost for a decade, Damon Atwood makes his acting career comeback in a musical show on London’s West End with a lead role. Rose is the choreographer’s assistant. Although she is very beautiful and an excellent dancer, she suffers from stage fright and feels extremely nervous performing before an audience.

When Damon and Rose meet, sparks fly and desires ignite. Rose knows very well that show crushes don’t end well and that love affairs with actors are short-lived. But, there’s something about Damon that she can’t resist. They feel an instant, deep bond and the author does a nice job of setting up the story. As they work together, the two become entwined in a passionate relationship. Past traumas had pushed Damon into isolation, but Rose helps him gradually lower his defenses. The intensity of their connection comes across well, and doesn't seem forced.

Rose got her heart broken one too many times, trusted too many times, chose the wrong person too many times. She has taken risks previously and decided not to act in the same manner she deemed as foolish before. Should she trust and love Damon? Should she let him in to that heart of hers?

It was the wonderful characters and their development that sucked me in the most. Damon and Rose were great main characters, but there were some fantastic secondary characters in this story as well. Damon stole my heart away. He was charming, thoughtful and sweet. I loved his character throughout the book and how much he grew. Rose was simply adorable. She was pushing him out of his comfort zone and challenging him to be a better dancer. She was a great protagonist. She was supportive and she was real.

The story played out well and seemed completely plausible. I had fun casting this in my head with real actors. Showmance is a very inspirational and emotional read about trusting again and finding yourself in the chaos of life.

I kinda wished there was more dancing in this book. I wanted the dance theme to have been better elaborated, I wanted to have felt the tension on the dance floor and the chemistry of Damon and Rose dancing together. I still love it though, and I'm definitely interested in seeing what else the author has to offer.

In a heartbeat, every look we’d shared flashed through my mind, from that initial fleeting glance across the dance studio the first time I’d heard him sing, to this one. This one that told me I owned his heart, his soul, his everything.

I'm still fanning myself a lil' bit after experiencing the hottness that is Damon and Rose.

I need to start by saying one thing: L.H. Cosway can write! Glad I got that off my chest.

From the moment these two awkwardly connect, I felt the strong magnetic pull between them, and it's obvious both characters feel it too. The dual POV means we get that fabulous confirmation first hand from Damon. On the surface he's emotionally closed off and a little stoic, but that just makes the in his head freakouts that much more endearing.

I was an actor. Even if we did know who we were at the beginning, after a while sometimes we played so many roles that we forgot.

Rose and Damon have both experienced past betrayals that make relationships difficult, but the slow to build romance gave their inevitable coming together a sense of authenticity. To me, this is a tale of instalove that just took a little longer than normal to FINALLY reach the surface. I'm a happy camper just thinking about it!

While not my favorite L.H. Cosway book (that honor still goes to Painted Faces) Showmance definitely makes my favorite list of books I've read this year. I'm thrilled to see Julian's getting his book next and I'm already anticipating the yummy angst fest that's bound to be his story.

5 STARS! ★★★★★

You know that feeling where you just put down a read and all you want to do is scream out from the rooftops how amazing it was? I've been sitting at work all day with a goofy smile on my face every time I think about this read! If Showmance was a real life musical play, I'd be in the front row audience giving it a standing ovation and demanding for an encore. Rose & Damon's story was a tantalizing performance that will hypnotise and captivate you from page one. I would happily devour it once more just to fall in love with the story all over again.

One of the greatest joy in picking up an LH Cosway book is knowing that I can always expect something different from her, may it be the vivid settings of her stories to her beautifully flawed characters. It's like walking into my favorite ice-cream parlour, demanding for the flavour of the day and I'd walk out like the happiest customer and ready to come back for more. Showmance is no exception with LH Cosway transporting us to the musical theatrical world where the alluring Moulin Rouge play comes to life.

Rose and Damon were amazing characters on their own, each with their own little quirks that made me fall in love with them even more. Rose is a choreographer who has mad dance skills but has never been interested to be in the limelight. She stays with her best friend, Julian (whom is so freakin awesome!) and we see him nursed Rose through her bad breakup with an ex, Blake who was a doucheface actor. Ever since then, Rose vowed to not let her heart be tempted by another actor until Damon Atwood landed a role in the upcoming Moulin Rouge that she's been working on.

It would be an understatement to say how much I ADORE Damon. Honestly I made a mental list of 10 things why Damon Atwood is possibly one of LH Cosway's best hero yet (Jay Fields is still sitting on the top spot with Oliver King close behind but I'm pretty sure I just bumped Damon to second place!!). Damon was not your typical Hollywood golden boy, he was anything but. Which only made his character so endearing because he reminded me like a lost sick little puppy when he first showed up in the book. He was like a quiet storm that you can't quite understand at first but yet you're drawn to the intensity brewing behind his reserved character. Being able to tap into his thoughts and understanding the pieces of him he's hid from everyone, it was hard not to fall in love with this man.

Now getting on to the main reason I really loved this book, which was the slow burning romance between Rose and Damon. All I can say is that the sexual tension will be burning through the pages! It was a slow, sexy tease of a dance that Rose and Damon were playing at that had me tethering to the edge of self combustion. It was executed perfectly because when it hit the boiling point, the emotions that rolled off the pages went off like the fourth of July. Imagine the taste of sweet victory when the romance was worth the wait. Oh it was so good, trust me, I could only dream of having the kind of love that Rose and Damon had. I was hardly fazed by the drama that surrounded them who tried to break these two apart because I had so much faith in them.

With the perfect balance of angst, humor and romance, Showmance is a true testament of how talented LH Cosway is by showcasing her versatility when it comes to her writing. This author never cease to amaze me with her stories but mostly, it's the raw passion that I felt through her words that always latched onto me every single time I read her books. Another stunning performance delivered by LH Cosway, this book has undoubtedly made its way to my top reads of 2016. Also I am absolutely dying, DYING for Julian's book now!

I have said this before that one of the things that I love about L. H. Cosways writing is the genuineness and warmth that I am left feeling while reading her stories. Her characters continue to be endearing, vibrant and unique.

While I did get all of this and I did enjoy the story, Showmance didn’t end up being that perfect 5 star book for me. For a good stretch of the book my rating was a steady 3.5 stars but the last chapter and Epilogue pushed it up a bit.

Damon Atwood and Rose Taylor found themselves sharing the stage while preparing for a rendition of Moulin Rouge. You see, Rose is involved in choreography and Damon is a child star trying to find his way back to performing. Both have reasons for being closed off. One has always made poor choices when it came to relationships and the other was happy with the peacefulness of their life. As it would be, there was an immediate connection between Damon and Rose. This connection would struggle to bloom into something worthy of a future.

Damon ~ though a man of a few words, there was a certain aura about him. You wanted to know who this man was. He was sexy in an unsuspecting way and had a voice that was seducing. It wouldn’t be an easy task for Rose to keep her feelings for Damon purely platonic.

 photo 79f5882d-fbc9-4f9a-b7ca-84734a4a4652_zpseihru86q.jpg

Rose ~ was witty. She enjoyed working with the actors, sharing her for love dance. She has experienced a number of failed relationships which causes her to be weary. She was sweet, kind and beautiful. Rose was a triple threat that Damon wasn’t sure how to handle. It was getting harder and harder to keep their friendship in check. He wanted something more but would Rose have the same feelings?

 photo 747e7a37-9b20-4211-a8d6-78648cf7641e_zpsvimhhuqv.jpg

As Damon and Rose teeter between friendship and something more they are faced with deception, misunderstandings and desire. When they finally give into their need for one another Damon has found his home with Rose. It was with her he belonged.

 photo 7f700cee-7876-4f9c-93b2-a2d91ff1f9cf_zpsmnhswr8u.jpg

Showmance turned out to be another enjoyable read by L.H.Cosway. It wasn’t top notch like I found Still Life with Strings, Painted Faces or Six of Hearts but it was good. What threw if off was the meddling of others. It became a bit annoying….at least for me.

The last chapter was great and I thought the Epilogue was sweet. It took Damon and Rose to a perfect place.

❝If I couldn't have Rose, I was condemning myself to a life of halves, and I wanted to live a whole one.❞

If you want to read a thoroughly entertaining, feel-good book, then you need to pick up Showmance, by L. H. Cosway. With this book, Cosway brings us her trademark flawed characters, along with a sassy, strong heroine. Showmance is a surefire winner!

Damon has been a recluse for years, running from the very things that brought him his fortune; people, fans, attention. Going from a relatively sheltered life, he was thrust into the fast road and limelight and into the hands of his father when his mother died. Finally finding emancipation at the age of 16 and soon to follow, his grandmother and Scotland, Damon escapes acting and finds solace in hard work and quiet living. It isn't until the death of his grandmother that he returns to acting (because of her urging) and leaves his solitude to embark on the noisy city life of London’s West End. Where he meets Rose.

Rose, our sassy, talented assistant choreographer for this new production Moulin Rouge, is coming off a broken heart and has sworn to no more romantic trysts with actors. But then there's Damon. And he's so alluring in his guardedness. "I've never known someone to be so enlightened yet completely uncertain of who they are at the same time." And his charms prove more than Rose can resist.
You captivate me. My heart stuttered. The clear, undeniable honesty in his words had me trembling.❞

Do I captivate you? he asked, a vulnerability in his eyes like he honestly had no clue how I felt for him.❞

I love a strong male character who isn't afraid to show is vulnerable side and Cosway perfectly showcased Damon's. I ATE IT UP! I melted. I was under his spell. While his issues ran deep, I appreciated that Cosway allowed him to be vulnerable, yet strong and never weak. She allowed him to trust Rose and fall in love. This was a slow burn romance, the perfect kind, where two people get to know each other, sexual chemistry builds, and finally explodes.

And let me say, Damon has a dirty mouth and he likes to make Rose blush. But while his dirty words heat her girly parts, his sweet words melt her heart.

I always look forward to new books from LH Cosway, her writing is uniquely engaging, and her stories are so rich in detail and character depth. She takes you on a journey, and it's easy to believe you are actually part of everything that is taking place within the pages.

Our heroine, Rose Taylor, is a talented West End choreographer who has an unfortunate knack of falling for the actors who are under her tuition. Having recently been burnt by a cocaine sniffing tosspot who thought he was something special, she has sworn off actors and vows to concentrate on her new role, assisting with Moulin Rouge.

Child Hollywood actor and broody Yorkshireman, Damon Attwood, is coming out of hiding from a remote Scottish island to play the lead role on the London stage. It's been a good few long years since he has been required to socialise and be around people for any length of time, but he sees something in Rose that instantly calms him and he is drawn to her kindness and genuine personality.

"It felt strange, this thing between us, because ninety-five percent of it was completely unspoken. It was just a feeling, one that drew me to him like a moth to a flame."

There was a slow build up, and although I love a slow burn, I was a little bit frustrated at the pace of their romance. Damon was pretty sure of his feelings quite early on in the story, and behind his quiet and brooding, and somewhat aloof exterior, he treated Rose with so much patience and understanding, it was completely swoonworthy.

His point of view was definitely the highlight for me -I loved being in his mind, but also loved how he made Rose feel, and how she would completely melt when he spoke of his feelings to her.

Overall, although it was a little on the slow side for my preference, but it was a great book to escape into and have no doubt that it will be a success for many readers.

Showmance is a standalone contemporary romance, told in dual POV

I loved this! It was over too soon! Damon is a wonderful hero- definitely not the usual hero. He is sweet, shy and not even close to being a manwhore! So refreshing! I liked Rose too! She is a sweetheart! I loved the way their relationship progressed. I wish there was an epilogue set out farther than 6 months later. I would love more about this couple!

Showromance was my first book by L.H Cosway alone. I read the two books she wrote with Penny Reid. As I loved these two, I wanted to experience what she could write alone. I still haven't read anything by Penny Reid (I know... I will soon) and I wanted to wait for Showromance to be released to read L.H Cosway. The blurb got my attention right away. I'm very much interested in everything related to music, art, movie, actors,...

I want to say that even if I didn't adore this one as much as I thought I would, I still want to catch up with other books by L.H. I enjoyed her style and I wanted to keep reading the first chance I had because I had hope the story would turn the way I wanted. She has a something of "je ne sais quoi" that makes her story easy to read.

Now is the hardest part because I can already see I have an unpopular opinion. I already saw some ratings and all were stellar for Damon & Rose's story.

Rose is a choreographer assistant in London. She's a little sentimental and falls quickly in love when someone shows interest. This happened the last time she was with an actor and ended badly.
She swore off any man and especially the ones she need to work with.

Damon is an actor who stayed hidden for the last decade. He only comes back because he promised his gran. He's an introvert who doesn't trust easily but with Rose it all seems too easy.
They are both attracted to each other but with Rose who wants to stop being too naive with men, them being together as a couple is not on the agenda. The first step to be sure that both are making the correct decision is to be friends.

That left enough space for others to put themselves between Damon&Rose. This left enough space for doubt, jealousy to settle in.

While I did like the dynamic our MC has, I was a little frustrated with the outsiders trying to put them apart. At some point, it seemed also too childish to my taste. I also wanted Damon and even Rose to stand up more to the others.

Their story was a slow build so their moment together was precious. To me it wasn't enough. I needed more of their connection as lovers than friends.
Finally, when your attention is more captured by a side character than the main ones, you know it's not a complete winner. I sure want Julian's story asap. L.H depicts him in such a way, you can't not fall for this guy!

“You,” he paused, frowned, then tried again. “You captivate me.”

This is quite possibly the HARDEST review we’ve ever had to write because this was one of our most anticipated new releases for 2016 by one of our favourite, automatic 1click authors. We couldn’t wait to dive into Showmance – after all, we’ve loved everything this author has written: be it solo or as a collaboration, so our excitement was at stratospheric levels for this read!
So it is with the heaviest of hearts that we have to admit….. Showmance didn’t quite work for us. In fact, we struggled to finish it.

On the surface this book has everything we love in a story. It’s written by one of our most favourite authors, it’s set in the theatre, it has a sexy Ex-Hollywood star, funny banter, a slow burn romance and a witty heroine……yup, and we couldn’t open this baby fast enough! In fact, we checked our Kindles and emails daily wishing for the moment Showmance arrived so we could pause life and devour every word!

We love a slow burn romance, the teasing build-up, the eventuating connection – we thrive on it, but in this case the romance seemed to drag rather than build. It was as though Damon and Rose spent a little too much time in their own heads, procrastinating, staring, thinking and not doing much else. We didn’t feel the spark that always accompanies an L.H. Cosway story and this didn’t flow as well as previous books. Maybe it was the dual POV, which we ordinarily love, but it felt stilted in this particular case. We’re not sure, the romance and the story felt forced rather than natural, something we’ve never previously experienced with this author.

Don’t get us wrong, there were moments we enjoyed…..the LH Cosway signature wit showed its face, though nowhere near the levels of her previous stories and of course there were some beautiful quotable lines along the way, but overall…..sadly, this book just didn’t excite us.
This lady will ALWAYS remain a favourite of ours despite our feelings about Showmance. Not every book is for every reader and we know a lot of readers will love this one, it just didn’t work for us on this occasion. But you know what? You can bet we’ll eagerly awaiting her next fabulous release!

Low-angst romance set among a London West-end stage production between the male lead H and the assistant choreographer h. Both of them are very sweet though the H is a gruff introvert, while h is a sunny extrovert. If it was only the h/H and their romance I'd rate it 5 stars, bcos they were just so right together; but the media romance aspects of it - drugged up actors, people and tabloids wanting a piece of them etc. was irritating. Luckily the h/H navigated it all with good communication so no unnecessary drama.
The popular cultural aspects the book touched on were awesome:Like they were doing Moulin Rouge and the tragic part of it struck a chord, plus I'm a die hard fan of Gene Kelly so it was fascinating that the h knew so much about him!! I also adored Julian and can't wait for him to find his HEA in bk2!!

4 stars!

This was ok for me.
I'm convinced that maybe just maybe my free copy of this book wasn't the same as the one my GR friends read?

When I started this book I was so happy, finally here we have a hero who's not a manwhore, one who's sweet, a loner, an antisocial but the more I read about him the more I started to get annoyed by him.
His relationship with Rose was cute and it was ok I guess, I think she was perfect for him but I just needed him to find his b**ls. I wanted him to tell Alicia to f**k off. He never encouraged her but he did take his sweet time setting her straight even after that she still continue causing drama and chasing after him. Even after they went to do an interview on a tv show she insinuated that there was a romance between them, he should have set her straight again and unless I missed it he never did.

I also didn't like the info he gave the heroine about lily, or at least I think that was her name. His ex, he said after he had sex with her he became obsessed with it. I really didn't need to know how obsessed he became about having sex with someone other than the heroine.

Anyway, Blake dude didn't bother me as much as Alicia did. Maybe because the heroine always set her ex straight but hero never did anything or said anything to this woman. He even started a friendship with her even knowing she was after him or even after being aware that this woman was somewhat a bit catty to the heroine and that her chasing caused the heroine jealousy and some hurt.

4 stars!!!!

Damon!!! Hot hot hot!!!!!
I love me a sweet fisherman that knows how to sing!!!!
Damon is my favorite character in this book. Rose was good, she didn't annoyed me too much! ;)

This story is about a child star that is starting over after many years of not acting, his grandmother's death wish was for him to act again. And a choreographer who didn't want anything to do with actors, after getting burned too many times.
What will happen when destiny has them work together. ;).

I tried, I really did... and I wanted to love this book so much, because L.H. Cosway's writing is phenomenal, but it just wasn't in the cards for me.
I ended up skimming through out majority of this book, but I have to admit, I do have a teeny tiny problem with slow burn romance, and boy this one was slow.
It just wasn't my thing.

Maybe it was the dual POV, which we ordinarily love, but it felt stilted in this particular case?!
